The Commanders are expected to sign Falcons free agent DT Abdullah Anderson, source confirms (@PLeonardNYDN 1st).
A little bit odd considering our cap position and other needs...... preparing to trade a DL? Not saying this is related but I did wonder at the time whether Rons comments about Youngs 5th year option was a signal to other teams that he might be available without seeming too eager to trade him, it made no sense to make that public. |

He started 8 games for ATl and will basically be our third man up so nobody can say we have no depth at d line. Same as taking one late in the draft who was bpa i guess. |
Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
barton is going to be are startling MLB. weather we like it or not
No problem with that. Certainly Cant be worse than Bostic. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
I am going to say not really. The only QB to win that was not playing top level in the last decade is Nick Foles and even then. The team was 11-2 with Carson Wentz having a near MVP season. After that you have to go all the way back to 2006 when Rex Grossman was the losing QB with the Bears and that is a moot point. The game has changed so much since 2006.
I think you can make the playoffs. Win the division. Maybe win a playoff game but that is about the ceiling.
Jimmy G and Jared Goff both losers. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
very odd thats the one position we have that is loaded and good with depth
|
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
It was reported repeatedly last year that they loved the IPP guy Bada at DT....... interesting to know how much they paid for the new guy, he is not even that young from a football standpoint. This move puzzles me

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
I wonder whether Mathis has had a set back, he looked OK couple of weeks back when training with Payne
|
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Just depth move, he’s a journey man.

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
TH to Atlanta is a cool story and he got a solid payday but the fact that Some fans are mad at Ron is insane. brissett is the better QB

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We are so jaded by 27 quarterbacks failing that when a borderline top-5 leaves (even though he's clearly backup material at best) we lash out apparently. Heinicke reached his ceiling, and his ceiling is fairly low in the grand scheme of things. But compared to the other 12+? qb's we've watched in the last 5 years he was probably top 2. |

Forgot about Goff. Jimmy G was co AP offensive player of the year that season though so he was playing at an elite level for that season |
That was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I apologize if that post came off a bit dickish.
We'll just have to agree to disagree on Brissett. I think he's better than Heinicke. I think we all agree, HOWELL WIN THE JOB BABY!!!
Haha no worries it was a funny remark and yea only time will tell how all this shakes out for sure |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Danny Johnson got a 1.75 million dollar signing bonus. Good for him!! He's a great role model for all the UDFA type guys.

Lots of respect for him.

Browns free-agent linebacker Anthony Walker is visiting the Commanders today. John Keim on Twitter Washington was interested in Drue Tranquill but couldn’t strike a deal. Still want more quality here. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
hope they can sign him, been a starter most of his career

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Looks like Dan's not paying out any of the new FA signings:
https://theathletic.com/4323356/2023/03/19/dan-snyder-commanders-sale-contracts/ Dare say this is going to impact our ability to bring in some players we'd like, if they're not prepared to wait for their money. |

It is only a couple of months so I don't think this has a big effect on FA signings. Our curiously low cap space is a bigger problem |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
For the record, Abdullah Anderson received a $1.7m, 1 year deal with $0.5m guaranteed
[Edit] not a vet min deal which opens the question if he is not competition for the 4th DT position, why the need to sign him now rather than a couple of months from now at a lower price? Must be lots of this kind of guy circulating after the draft that just want to get into camp. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
any word on if we are signing LB anthony walker ?we need to he was visiting today
|
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
New Commanders T/G Trent Scott:
* 2018 UDFA * Stops with Chargers, Panthers, Steelers * 61 games, 20 starts ( 8 and 1 with Pitt in 2022) Would be the 4th OT right now, but no roster lock, presumably. #PositionFlex Per Ben Standig. More Olineman |
