ROY and its not even close anymore
To be honest he's a top 5 MVP candidate to
Yeah, I'm sold. I think I even prefer JD over CW - this opinion isn't based on the game yesterday alone but just what I have seen from CW so far, while he is good, I don't like his attitude. He acts like a tough guy while JD always stay humbled, which is pretty amazing considering how much hype he has been getting ever since the training camp. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
CW makes me think he's more me first than team first. JD definitely gives me team first vibes. Or at least realises he can't be great without a team behind him.
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
CW keeps showing flashes but he's way too inconsistent. That said we're definitely getting spoiled watching JD, rookies just don't play this well right out of the gate.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Daniels' 72.7 QBR ranks fifth in the NFL -- Washington's cumulative QBR was 40.3 from 2018 to 2023.
- John Keim |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
And that QBR does not take into account how good he is at avoiding a free pass rusher and making a play. This guy is exactly what we needed to turn our franchise completly around. I have seen enough, barring injury he will be a star not just a franchise QB.

"Just a fan vote"? I'll take it. It means fans from across the league recognize how great this young man is. We're lucky to have him. |

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Biggest surprise…he doesn’t turn the ball over. It’s usually the thing rookies struggle with the most…the speed of the game leads to turnovers.

Not here
Totally agree. It is huge attribute for sure as turnovers are the determinant of victor in so many games. He makes great decisions and protects the ball. All of his film study clearly pays off. He's been great. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Yesterday, at a watering hole near my home whilst watching our game versus the G-men, some arrogant prick (I know that may sound redundant, lol) claimed (paraphrased), "Daniels can't read defenses and Washington's college OC (WTF does that even means?!), Kliff Kingsbury, is running a college offense because Daniels is only a one-read QB." He was adamant about his poor stance. He went on and on about other stuff--mostly irrelevant--for a decent portion of the game.
I told him "Just because you talk a lot doesn't mean you know a lot." |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
This is insane
@john_keim According to Elias Sports: Washington's three turnovers are the fewest by a team in the first 9 games of a season since 1933 (first year turnovers were tracked).
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Keim covered JD's mindset about not causing turnovers in his podcast last night - he said that on one play in red zone, Dyami Brown was open in the corner of end zone but JD didn't throw and instead he threw it out of bounds and then we kicked a FG to make it 2 score ahead. Keim also mentioned that JD tends to make smart decisions, whether to take the risk or not. Seems like JD is hyper aware of potential risks and acts accordingly, which is pretty amazing for a rookie.

As exciting as RG3's rookie year was, JD is somehow surpassing it.

As with anything during that time, having the Snyder cloud over everyone's head always meant that somehow, something was going to go wrong. Thankfully that is not the case anymore. |

well by week 9 in 2012 we were 3-6 ; then we won 7 in a row to finish out so i say jd5 has definitely started stronger lets se how he finishes but i see jd5 being a much better long term prospect then RG3 |

I'd say the difference is he doesn't take chances where he doesn't need to; situational awareness. He doesn't feel the need to keep scoring TD's because he shows faith in his teammates. Even if a mistaken belief, he thinks that he doesn't have to force it in there as the D will help him out if he just avoids the turnover. The real test (and I think he'll pass) is when he has to force it in there, when he must go for a risky throw when the game is on the line and he has no choice. The Hail Mary aside he really hasn't had to worry about those much. |

The Washington Commanders are making it to the red zone on 48.8% of all of their drives 🪖
That is the highest percent for any team in any season since 2000 🤯 1st out of 798 |

I’d be surprised if KK leaves after 1 season. He’s still young and they are building something special here. It’s not like Ben Johnson’s stock has gone down. I hope he wants to find the ceiling with our team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Perhaps KK is perfectly content with being an OC only and also working with a budding superstar QB

That would be best case scenarios for sure!!! . . . but he most likely has that competitive fire that wants to prove he is not a failure as a head coach. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Question is who has a better chance at getting him a ring. Right now I say we edge it over the Bears and any other likely landing spot.
