Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
No one on the planet would trade up to 4 to take Clausen, but if either one of Suh and McCoy were left on the board, our phone would be ringing off the hook. Unless I got an amazing offer, I'd take Suh or McCoy and feel like the luckiest team in the draft.
Dude, if we ad one of these dt's to our dline, it is going to be sick. Of course with out any change to our oline, its is still sickly.. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
No one actually wants to hear my thoughts on Brady Quinn, but if the choices end up being to trade a 4th or 5th round pick for Quinn's rights or to take Jimmy Clausen with the 4th overall pick, this seems like such a no brain-er that I would probably have to blacklist those who didn't agree with me.
He took it as a Jr and scored 14, then again as a Sr and scored a respectable 28, same as Peyton Manning. So if anything, he's studious, as we've seen.
Heath Shuler had a 16...and is now helping run the country. Yikes. Check out that list I posted...a good score means nothing for football. :D
those type of scores are pitiful, I mean they're middle school level tests some of these guys probably couldn't even get enough on the asvab to go army infantry (not a knock on .mil) |

I imagine your thoughts on Quinn are the same as they were three years ago. Maybe we could get Tim Rattay to back him up? |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Not sure what you mean
yeah didn't word that too well the rumors are basically over, but it took awhile for it to get to the media? |
I imagine your thoughts on Quinn are the same as they were three years ago. Maybe we could get Tim Rattay to back him up?
Or maybe we could trade up for Sam Bradford, and back him up with Jevan Snead and John Skelton :tongue
The shorthand version: for one-reason or another, all other options are sub-optimal to keeping Campbell, and playing him behind a rebuilt OL. But in terms of developmental prospects, Quinn would be one of many options that could be picked up at the cost of a mid-to-late rounder. And not all of those options are equal, according to me. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I'm intrigued about the possibility of signing Larry Johnson...wonder what he has in the tank?
yeah didn't word that too well
the rumors are basically over, but it took awhile for it to get to the media?
Well rumors tend to pick up again after a dead period sometimes. But I also wouldn't say they take awhile to get to the media. I mean how do you think I hear most of this stuff. It can take a while to get from the media to the public because more often than not it's not worth bringing up |

I don't know, just figured some stuff didn't get reported, like you said. Either that or there are rumblings but they're waiting to report until there's something more solid instead of pulling a Florio. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Bears just signed Eddie Williams, that's four former Redskins that have found work this past week now
Bears just signed Eddie Williams, that's four former Redskins that have found work this past week now
Color me surprised. I figured that Randle El would get picked up, but that Mason/Williams/Collins/Yoder/Smoot would not get any play after release. So this, I think, does have meaning.
