Re: Goodell upholds suspensions of Payton, Loomis, Vitt
Very often when a group of people are involved in some sort of underhanded behavior that involves joint actions by the members of the group - - in legalese, that is a conspiracy - - the group tends to come apart once an investigation begins. Members of the group begin to look out for self-interest and not group-interest. In this case, hanging all of this around Gregg Williams' neck was the "cut-and-run" strategy in the group.
It did not work - obviously - but it did succeed in one aspect. It showed Gregg Williams just how much cover others in his profession would afford him when the chips were down. Now, if Williams ever wants to have his suspension lifted, he needs to cooperate with the NFL in other investigations.
Translation: Williams needs to spill what he knows about what goes on/went on eslewhere.
Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt gave Williams reason to look out for his self-interest only when Commish Goodell comes to talk to talk to him the next time. |

Soooo.
What's the Saint's record gonna look like this year? |

What's the Saint's record gonna look like this year?
Oh where the Saints go 6 and 10... LOL. It's tough to tell to be honest. I feel that their offense will be pretty much run by Brees. Spags is new to the defense, and I am sure they are going to lose players, so that unit may take a hit. I'll be curious to see how the rest of the NFC South fares. I think the Panthers needed to make some improvements, but they haven't done much. The Falcons have the potential to improve and who knows how the Bucs are going to do with all of their new FA acquisitions. |

Good to see Goodell gets to handle the initial judgement AND the appeals. No conflict of interest there.

Re: Goodell upholds suspensions of Payton, Loomis, Vitt
Does this mean they can focus on the Skins cap penalties NOW.

Probably need to punish the Saints players first. Plus, I don't expect anything to get done regarding our cap penalty until the summer time. I'd assume the professor arbitrating our case won't do anything until classes are out. |
Would he do anything else? There had to be new and overwhelming evidence for him to change the suspensions. And even if there was that would've meant they previously lied to goodell, the reason why they were punished in the first place.
Was never going to change his mind. They knew this and appealed as a PR move. |

The process itself bought Payton 15 days (April 1 was the original suspension date now it's April 16). |
Re: Goodell upholds suspensions of Payton, Loomis, Vitt
Payton will sneak in to the Saints training camp as a construction worker. There is construction going on at the camp now. so he could possibly slip in... i was there today and just basically had my run of the place
BTW I was wearing my Script R Redskins hat along with a Redskins shirt.. so not to stand out that much.. LOL |
Re: Goodell upholds suspensions of Payton, Loomis, Vitt
Sean Payton knew Goddell wasn't going to overturn his initial decision. His infraction was much to serious.
