Need some serious help, from skins fans
I went to Phoenix for the skins vs. cardinals game and I didn't get to set my TIVO. (I know major screw up) Please if any one has that game on TIVO, I will do anything to get a copy of that game on DVD. There were more skins fans at that game than cardinals. I know this is a big season and I have every game except this one and the first Dallas game. Please , fellow skins fans help a brotha out. If their is anyone out there that can help me please respond.

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
I hate to be a party pooper but I must warn that every NFL broadcast has the disclaimer/warrning that......
"No portions, description and bla bla bla of this game may be copied, used and bla bla bla without the express written permission of the NFL and the "Home Team"" I would be very careful how we all deal with this subject and CYA "Cover Your Tail" peace mike |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
The NFL doesnt have the time nor resources to stake out everyone that Tivo's their games. It's not till you start trying to somehow make money off it that they'll get involved.

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Sorry - I don't have this one.

It's illegal but chances are you won't get caught is not great advice bro. I guess the typical American attitude of "I know it's a law but it doesn't apply to me" fits here then. "I know it's a Fire Lane but I just was running in for a soda". Well, I can always link to this thread with an "I told you so" if needed. I warned ya. peace and hail Skins mike |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
I just bought my tickets on eBay. So the Family Romano will be there to root The Skins on to victory. That is if they can actually hear us from Row S of the upper deck. :towel: :towel: :towel: :towel:

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
yell loud so we can hear ya on tv.man am i REALLY jealous

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
This is not an NFL policy, but a copyrite notice. Like the circled C on your cd's or books, the NFL can not claim copyrite without providing notice.

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Sammy Baugh -- Im sure you're the perfect citizen. Please post when you get a speeding ticket so I can give you an "I told you so."
Lose the attitude. |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
I'm not perfect but don't fault me for looking out for the site's interest.
At age 22 you still have much to learn. So, my point is correct but you choose to change the subject and attack me? Lose the attitude and grow up bro. peace |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
How did I change the subject, yes I'm twenty-two, however I can safely say the NFL rarely if ever goes after anyone for recording games. Let me ask you, how many unlicensed games do you have on VHS somewhere?
The site can't be faulted by the NFL unless the game is hosted on the site itself. Then they could pitch a fit. As of now the NFL could look at this thread and not do anything. |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
If the site wants to go on your advice that is their choice.
I stand by my original statement that trading, distubuting and promoting of taping and posting video from NFL games is illegal as stated in every single one of their broadcast trasmitions. Maybe we should ask JoeRedskin an actual Lawyer. Again...all I came to do was to warn. |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Guys, I don't know the rules on this, but if sharing a copy of a game or "plays" from a game is illegal, then we have guys in trouble every week for "sharing" thier highlights from the last week's game. I am sure they are not getting permission from the NFL. Not to stir up a can of worms here because I am the first one to say I enjoy BJ's highlights and Skin-fanatic's highlights very much. So I hope the NFL lets it slide a little for things like that. No one is making money on these highlights as far as I know

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
As long as your not making any money your fine. Like the NFL cares if you send a fellow fan a DVD of the game. Just don't try to sell them and it will never be a problem. :duel:

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Whats the point in fighting over something like this? I do not hink it is illegal to put games on DVD. If you check eBay there are games forsale all the time on DVD. Im not saying that this makes it right, but I would think if its really a big deal then they would crack down on it there. Either way you both have your opinions and im definitely not trying to change either one. My own opinion is that if your making a dvd of the game for your own personal collection then there isnt much of a problem I don't think.
Opinions are like assholes, we all have one and they all stink. |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
lol
Your opinions are not the law. What part of ...."NO PORTION OF THIS BROADCAST" is hard to understand? lol Good gosh. It's not a felony and I'll admit that but it is stealling what someone claims they don't want stolen. peace |

Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Come on guys, no need to argue about legality, thats not why we are here. And Sammy is right dude, he just doesnt want this site to be shutdown, if anyone has a copy of that game, then send a private message to the original dude who wanted one.

Maybe we should ask JoeRedskin an actual Lawyer. Again...all I came to do was to warn.[/QUOTE] Copyright law is not my specialty, and Ive never handled a case like this, but my understanding of the law is that this issue was already litigated back when VHS was the hot item. Television broadcast companies cried foul when people recorded their shows to watch them later. I believe the ruling was that if the game/show is recorded for your own personal use, then its not a copyright infringement. Again, the key issue is money. Which, if you look at some of the Ebay auctions, they will sell you something trivial like a football trading card, but they will ask something outrageous like $15 bucks and throw in a copy of some game as their "special free gift". Just my 2 cents. |
Re: Need some serious help, from skins fans
Just to clarify something.
I live outside the USA. I get the Skins games on DVD by a licensed outlet in Europe. They are not allowed to sell back tothe USA under licensing T's & C's, but can sell them anyhere else. They are basically just the telecast recorded and popped on DVD. The biggest problem I see with the NFL is they don't look at selling the games on DVD within the USA, at least not in uneditted form (AFAIK). This is probably something to do with the advertising revenue. As to the issue with the original poster, I doubt anyone in the NFL will care if someone who paid to watch the game sends him a recording for his own use without making a profit, for the simple reason that both sender and reeciver have paid to view the game and neither is making a financial profit. Media companies tend to only sue for loss of revenue, and there is as far as I can see no loss of revenue for them. |
