The Spitting Ejection
I dispute the ejection for spitting with all my heart. There is a tacit exchange of blood, sweat, and tears the entire game between these guys. Is saliva all of the sudden out of bounds?
I couldn't tell when Taylor spit on Pittman, but I can tell you when Pittman clearly hit Taylor in the face. The fact that Pittman continued unpunished after clocking a player is stunning. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Well, they always get the guy who hits first or in this case, spits first.
No excuses for ST, spitting in guy's face is dispicable. |

Re: The Spitting Ejection
like i said in the other thread
---- i honestly didn't see anything. I do however think it is was possible that while yelling a little bit of spit flew out his mouth. I just didin't see anything. You got to be a stone cold mother ****er to spit on someone and not even move. His head didn't jerk forward. Spit on something go ahead in anger. your head has to move. it has to. But Sean is one stonned cold mother ****er |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
But is it a rule?
It is an automatic ejection, but from all replays, it appears only the ref, Taylor or Pittman truly know what happened. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
the ref was rigth there ...in a big game he does something so stupid it was putrid kick a man in the balls .....but dont spit in his face... he acted like a punk
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Well if no replay clearly shows it, I doubt the league will suspend him as it will be word against word against ref's word.
He was stupid to be in Pittmans face like that anyway, so I have little sympathy for the penalty etc. today. But a suspension would be OTT. And I entirely agree Pittman shuld have been penalised for retaliation. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
I think Gibbs will suspend him if the allegations are true.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
As you guys have stated i didnt see any spit come out of his mouth unless it came from doing all that shit talking back and forth like you guys said. And if someone spits in someone elses face you will normally flitch close your eyes or some kind of reaction first before you swing. i dont think he spit and im sticking to that.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
If ST is out next week, I think we lose the game. Taylor helps out so much in this style of "D" and we can't have him watching from the sidelines. I hope to God we have the whole "D" on the field (minus Wynn of course). Go Skins!
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
I do not believe ST spit on the Guy..... I think heat of the moment both guys Smack talking and the the other guys reaction and the Ref's overreaction caused this Total BS!! Why would the the other guy also be thrown out for swinging!!
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
I saw no spit.
The Ref was right there. We'll see. Oh yeah......WE WON! |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
If you look clearly, you can see Pittman's head moving back and to the right. BACK AND TO THE RIGHT! Just kidding, but I'm perfectly willing to accept the fact that the ref saw ST spit on Pittman. The zebra crew today was unbelievably good....count the number of calls that went in our favor today..Marcus Washington's fumble recovery, Edell Sheperd's TD negated.
Taylor made a bone head play, and deserved to be ejected. This wasn't a late hit or a face mask, this was bad. No matter what he did earlier in the game or in the past few weeks, ST HURT THIS TEAM TODAY. ****er! We were lucky to win. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
i was going crazy. i think its all crap. when (and IF) a guy spits on someone, he cocks back and launches one. ST didnt show any signs of intentionally spitting anything. I think he was yelling and spit out some food or something. Total crap...they wouldve given Tampa anything they could....
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
The ESPN crew was talking like he could possibly be suspended for next week, which could potentially cost them the game. As I said in the other thread, it pisses me off that he was well behaved all year, that acts like a dumb f--k in the playoffs.
And I'm curious what this will do to his image around the league. I mean he's had his problems, but they've all been off the field issues. He's been pretty straight laced on the field. I hope people don't start looking at him as another Bill Romanowski. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
niether one of them moved their heads... and pittman never wiped it off... I know if anyone spit in my face.... id probalby wipe it off... I don't think he did it... **** that ref. piece of shit/
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
how come i got cencored??? did we get bought out???

Exactly. If I was spit on, the first thing I'd do is wipe my face; as would anybody, I assume. But Pittman didn't. You also don't see ST wind up and spit. Also, was ST's mouth guard still in? It's hard to spit w/ your mouth guard in. Not impossible but hard. I'm sure Mike Pereira will discuss this play on the NFL Network sometime this week. He always backs the refs very hard, but they usually have camera angles that we don't see on the networks. |

haha, that sucks |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Like i said southpaw if someone is to spit at or on you are you gonna have a reaction to that before you throw a punch...i know i would...a flinch or something....he didnt spit on him and greg even asked him and he said he didnt and greg believes him.. also this happen against cincy last year and they investigated that and overturned that.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
You don't spit at a man's face. Doing that could get you killed in some areas. Taylor f**ed up big time and deserved to be tossed if he spat. What a moron!

Re: The Spitting Ejection
I just dont think it happened... Im a little drunk but it never looked like any spit came from his mouth... neither head jerked... and pittman never wiped it off.... maybe pittman was just asking him to spitnin his face because he's into defamaiton...
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
greg represented to the fullest for Taylor... williams made sure to drop the extra compliments, showing most people who don't know taylor what kind of a person he his. taylor has done enough on the field (game day and practice) to earn GW's trust- and that counts for something.

I think it was ridiculous that they ejected him in the first place, whether he actually spat or not. I don't want to hear this crap about this kind of thing being "classless". That's p*ssy talk if you ask me. NFL football is dirty. At the bottom of piles, guys jam their thumbs up the anuses of the ball carrier. There is eye gouging, scratching, and guys purposely twist the feet of those who are known to have sprained ankles. The NFL is an image concious league, and that is no doubt why they came down so hard on Bill Romanowski when he spit; because his spit was so blatantly visible on national TV. But I ask you, did anyone actually see Sean Taylor spit on the replay? I sure can't. And that's why he won't be suspended. The NFL would consider suspending him if it was a visibly dispicable Romanowski-style incident, but the truth is nobody can tell. I am personally with Brud, if guys spit, SO F*CKING WHAT. It's the NFL, it's not high school. So it's gross, who cares?! I can take it. The fact that Taylor was ejected doesn't bother me so much, because I can see a ref ejecting a player for spitting for the game. But I can't see suspending someone for that. It's not like he pulled a Marcus Vick and stepped on his leg, it's SPIT for god's sakes, it doesn't hurt. Pittman will get over it! But in the end, I don't care if Taylor got ejected, because we didnt' lose. There's no way the NFL will suspend him, so don't worry about it. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
PS If anyone wants to try to come down on Sean Taylor for his "behavior" problems on or off the field, you're going to have to create a seperate thread just for me, because I'm going to write so many posts in his defense you'll want to ban me from this site.
Sean Taylor is part of the very heart and soul of our team. Not only has his tremendous play been a reason we're even in the playoffs, but he's also a motivator for his teammates; without Sean Taylor we'd be sitting at home like the Dallas Cowboys. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Look guys the ref was right there and Carey is a good ref, one of the best. Sean has a history of spitting and I for one think he totally did it and not by accident. Some guys loose their head in the heat of the moment. Looks looks like Sean is right up there with Roberto Alomar. I doubt he will be suspended by the league and by early news footage Gregg says he believes him. I doubt the video footage will show anything but with a good ref right there, I believe he made the call because saw what Sean had done. Chris Mortensen says he doubts the league would suspend him but might fine him.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
GW says he loves him and would adopt him if he could.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Chris Mortenson on espn said he would seriously doubt if taylor gets suspended.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Whether we saw it or not isn't the point, the ref was RIGHT there so he obviously saw something.
I could see Taylor's head bob just a bit and then Pittman swings at him, so it's apparent that something happened. ST is a meathead, he's the kind of guy you've gotta take the good with the bad. |
Re: The Spitting Ejection
I really don't see him being suspended, but maybe someone could look up to see what's happened in the past with spiting incidents.
The NFL will definitely slap him with a nice fine. |

A little sweat and some spit coming out of a guys mouth on a hit is one thing but hocking on someone is totally different. I can't believe you really think there is nothing wrong with that and it is part of football.Although I hope he does not get suspended, if he really did it; and I believe he did, he should get fined. Sure stuff goes on at the bottom of a pile up and dirty play happens. But it does not make it right. Just ask the guy with the digit up his anus. Defend a lougey hocker all you want. Looks like you must have been an XFL fan where classlessness was king and you probably got 3 points for getting a snotwad through a guys face mask....but this is the NFL. No place for that in this league. |

Spitting on someone is pretty gross but it shouldn't give the "victim" free reign to take a swing at you. Of course, whether or not he actually spit on Pittman I don't know. Maybe there was a "second spitter." Perhaps Jerry Seinfeld and Keith Hernandez could sort things out for us |

Re: The Spitting Ejection
I can't believe anyone is even defending the action of someone spitting in another person's face. Wow, I'm kinda shocked actually.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
Guys I have a high def 62 inch tv and saw nothing to indicate spitting in any way. Nothing. If he spit it was the weakest nothing spit in history. I think it is quite possible he simply spittled while talking to the guy. It was a crap situation. I think there should have been two off-setting flags and no ejection.

Re: The Spitting Ejection
Is it possible that the spitting is a cover up excuse for a call the ESPN guys were grilling the refs for? I mean seriously who can spit invisibly? It is impossible. The angle is good enough to know if he actually spit. It doesn't look at all like he spit. He'd have to confess to it to conivnce me he spit. There is no evidence. Just because a ref said he did means nothing to me when we all basically grill these guys week in and week out. They make mistakes all the time. I don't trust their word anymore than I'd trust a 75 cent hooker.
|
Re: The Spitting Ejection
It was probably a loose, watery spit and not a lougey wad. Regardless the ref was right there and threw the flag. It had to have been flagrant enough to him and not an inadvertant phlemation in order to have thrown the flag. I thionk an off setting penalty would have been appropriate but now it is moot.....because WE WON!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Spitting Ejection
I didn't get to watch the entire game at work and I get home to find out my vcr crapped out of recording the game about 20 freakin seconds into it :screama: :banghead: :censored: , but I had multiple groups of people, some skins fans and some weren't, coming into work after the game was over and say the exact same thing: the ref wasn't even looking in the direction of the players when the supposed spitting took place. If he really did it, while it's kind of a chicken wussie way reason to eject someone it is the rules, but some type of punishment should have been given to Pittman for swinging and connecting with Sean Taylor's head. the fact that there wasn't a call on that is I think what has so many of us pissed off about this. And while I definitely do not condone spitting in someone's face, in as nasty a sport as football, that's a pretty weak way to eject someone from a playoff game. If it had been into the face of a ref like Alomar did a few years back for the orioles, it would deserve an immediate ejection and multiple week suspension.
