Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Lenny not a fatty? Must be the subway diet like that fellow Jared!
|
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
How pathetic is he? Wow. It is amazing how someone could have so much hate. How did he get to where he is with all his power such as voting on HOF? How can anyone respect him?
|
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
holy crap....what a fag....how does he still have his job
|
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Lenny is such an ass. At least he admitted that he pretty much hates us. If only he would make such an admission in an article.

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
link not working for me.... gonna head over there see if I can find it...
|
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Now their site isn't working!?
Maybe some In house editing? Glad thewarpath.net exists. Even though those extremeskins probably get some cash, ultimately they are yet an extension of big business. Luckily here we're real die hard fans with perhaps not as much media acknowledgement as extreme, but this board is personal, real and by the 2nd coming of Joe Gibbs and possibly with the help of Jesus we're in round 2 of the playoffs, knocking off #3 seed Tampa Bay with virtually no offense. HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHA!!! Friend of mine has to do 50 push ups on the bar! HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! GO REDSKINS!!! |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Gladly my theory was pure conspiracy. Site is up now and wow what a pasta belly experience! Great read! But I still love thewarpath.net!

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Surprisingly, Pastabelly's latest piece, a wrap-up of the Tampa game, isn't that bad at all, it's even quasi-complimentary. Although I don't know if it mentions Gibbs at all.
Seems like his big problem is he took what he thought would be an easy shot at Gibbs when he struggled last season, and now is eating his words, so he's irritable. When he can praise the defense without conceding anything positive about Joe, he doesn't seem to mind. Almost as if he just wants to badmouth Joe in any way he can, including trying to pretend that Williams is the guy who should really be coaching the team... and in a year or so, I suspect we will all find out if that is true or not anyway... |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
It's pretty sad that the guy obviously has some sort of axe to grind against the Redskins. And his demeaning stance towards us as fans is pretty amazing too. The guy wouldn't have a job if it weren't for the fans, in fact the whole damn league wouldn't exist if there were no fans.
The guy is a complete putz and this only proves it. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
hey guys, look. any success the Skins may have is solely because of Williams.

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Wow. That makes the extremeskins-skins merger worth it!!! Getting a real fan next to Lenny in the press box was a stroke of genius--another excellent move by the FO this year!

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Ok, maybe this could've been a separate thread, but how about Pasta's latest ESPN article? He has something personal against Gibbs. How many times can you count the word "Gibbs" in this article? Not once! How do you write about a team that just won a playoff game without mentioning the head coach even once?
It is evident in his conversation with the extremeskins fan when Pasta proclaimed "you won't win the super bowl - not with this coach!" Wonder what the guy has against Gibbs. As fas as I'm concerned, Gibbs' biggest contribution to the redskins has been on the hiring (both coaches and players) and team-building front, not in offensive strategy. That this team is a playoff team (and a very dangerous one) is as much attributable to Gibbs team-building expertise as it is to Greg Williams' stellar defensive schemes. To fail to acknowledge that speaks to Pasta's weakness as a sports writer. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs05/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2284184 |

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
oh and both a record setting WR and a RB in the top four of the NFL, thank god for only Williams!!
You certainly have your opinion, but I believe you need to take another look at what you said and look at this team as a whole. Gibbs' offensive strategy is a major reason why we're in the playoffs, coupled with a great defense. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Well if you guys read the article apparently he is not a historian.
"Fortunately for the Redskins, who won their first playoff game since 1992, their defense was far nastier." Well the idiot forgot we won in 1999 against Detroit at FEDEX. The last time Gibbs won was in 1992. This guy should be told to get out of the press box cause he is doing a injustice to all journalist . |

It is one of the reasons, but I don't see it as a major reason. Putting the offense in Clinton's hands is nothing new - it is what Gibbs has always wanted to do - its no brilliant innovation to implement a run first strategy. In the Gibbs II era, just my humble opinion, Gibbs greatest contribution has been team building (assembling character guys and getting rid of weeds) and great coaching hires (Bugel, Williams, Blache, Lindsey Musgrave etc.). If the head coach has to face the music everytime the team fails, then when the team wins - you have to give the head coach props, even if he had nothing to do with defensive strategy - that's my point and motivation for criticizing Pasta's imbalanced article. |

Yea, Pasta's clearly biased. He was one of the few that went out on a limb and proclaimed that Gibbs II would be a failure, and now he is not pleased about having to eat Crow. Pasta should stick to timely reporting - he does have good sources about coaching and player moves/hires, but he's certainly no football analyst. |
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I just don't see how one can discredit an offensive strategy because it's a run first strategy. It's alot tougher to be successful running the ball to move the offense downfield. If it wasn't so tough, there would be no need for a quarterback - we'd just direct snap to the running back on every play. |

How can ESPN not fire him? I am a little angry that ESPN would allow him to continue to work for them. They can't be blind to this...
They need to get that tape into the right hands over at ESPN... |

Saying the run-first is a basic philosophy behind the Gibbs offense is in no way meant to discredit the strategy. Its just that there's nothing innovative about it a la the schemes of Greg Williams. Lest this be misunderstood, my original post is not a "why do we need Gibbs" post - that would be a Pastabelly type statement to make. My opinion is simply that Gibbs' has brought more to the redskins by way of his genius and expertise on the team building and team management front than on the innovative playcalling front. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
Totally off subject, but our buddy Lenny reminds me of this of the fat goofy dude from the show "Viva La Bam". Its a terrible show on MTV.....

Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
He has devolved into a sad, petty little (relatively) man. This is all he has, and he ain't got much.

Yeah, somebody posted a picture of Don Vito over at ES. I've always thought that his picture on ESPN.com looked like Vito. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
k 1) Viva La Bam is hilarious...but since i have the sense of humor of a 15 year old adolescent male, then of course I think that.
2) Pastabelly is doing his job. He creates his opinion, then sticks by it to the end. Would you rather have your columnist who flip flops more than John Kerry, or a guy who admits he hates your team but sticks by his opinion through thick and thin? As much as I don't like him, he creates bulletin board material and stuff for us to complain about. BTW, don't be surprised if he doesn't take a single Skins fan question tomorrow... |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
I'd prefer to see a guy admit it when he's wrong, that's all.
Lenny said that by the time Gibbs was done with this second tour of duty he would be just an ordinary Joe. Well, in year 2 he's got the Skins in the playoffs and a wild card winner. If Lenny isn't man enough to admit that Gibbs is anything but an 'ordinary Joe' then it's obvious the guy has an axe to grind. His language and reactions to the guys from ES are inexcusable in my opinion, this guy has a job because of the fans but he's basically spitting in our faces. Of course I can't say if the guys from ES were at all to blame for perhaps provoking some hostility outta him. And I'm sure all the fans on his chats calling him names and making fat jokes doesn't help matters either. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
One of my biggest problems with Lenny is that he positions himself as two different types of journalists. One has an opinion and states it regularly. This makes him a columnist. We usually have issues with his opinions but that's all they are; opinions. The other guy positions himself as an insider. He breaks stories with regularity and actually does a real good job on this front. His work as an insider is very good and should be commended. Problem is when you are an insider it is hard for readers to seperate your opinion from your insider info. I think you can effectively be one or the other but I think to be both you have to be very good and he doesn't pull it off that well.

Reps to you for the observation .. Lenny is being paid for his opinion as a columnist ... and for his inside information ... YOU ARE CORRECT he does do both very well .. |

Okay I can agree with that. It seemed like it was one of those "Gibbs isn't really a coach" type of statement...so yes I did misunderstand what you were saying. I will say, though, I believe once we obtain a strong compliment to Santana Moss next year (whether if it's Patten or somebody we pick up,) I believe we'll see the offensive genius that we saw back in the 80's. While the concept might seem less than innovative - the ability to run these "basic" principle plays at will, will seem innovative in itself. |
Re: Extremeskins vs Lenny Pasta
I have to say I really enjoyed this.
What surprised me is how serious Lenny takes himself. Why is he so sensitive? |
