Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I was this close to hurling my TV out the window last night and this morning listening to the commentators (even Theisman!) and some sports talk shows this morning on ESPN.
Evidently Gruden and Simms are the media's little darlings because everyone f-ing one of them is lining up to fellate these guys. I mean shit, the Skins, while the victory sure wasn't pretty, LED the ENTIRE game and WON. But what do we here all day long? John Gruden this, Chris Simms that. And when the game is over and they switch back to the studio, what do Michael Irvin and Steve Young have to say? "Wow look how impressive Chris Simms was, what a competitor, and where is John Gruden so I can drop my pants and let him give it to me up the ass?" Sorry to sound so pissed - I've just been livid with the friggin media attention these guys get. I'm no fan of the Patriots and Tom Brady but at least they've earned alot of the attention. All this jabbering on about Gruden and his 1 Super Bowl - how about taking a glance across the field at the Hall of Fame coach with 3 Super Bowl Rings? Did that not occur to anyone? If I hadn't been at someone else's house watching the game with a bunch of other people I would have muted the TV and turned on the radio. ****in' media. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I agree. But I will say this, the skins win was ugly from the offensive side of the ball. It really overshadows one of the best DEFENSIVE games in a long time. Everyone is saying that TB has no offense, yada, yada, yada....well, they didn't say that shit when they put up 35 on us...screw the media, this team is ON FIRE. I am not saying they will go any further, but I GUARANTEE we are in the spotlight next season when we pick up a legitimate #2 and #3 wideout. LOOK OUT, 2 in a row could be in order!!!

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
i would rather them ignore us, so we can fly in under the radar and prove everyone wrong, like we've done all season

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
Mike Lupica on the Sports Reporters was especially irritating this morning. He was going on about how the obvious formula to beat us is to double cover Santana, thus totally shutting down our offense. Great logic actually, except that obviously Tampa didn't beat us.
Be that as it may, we should get used to it because the Skins are not going to get ANY benefit of the doubt from outside the beltway for the rest of this season at all. After each game everyone will look to the next weekend and say "Yes, but they wont beat [so-and-so], not in the [whatever game] because [such-and-such] has such a great defense and are playing at home". It's amazing that we're the hottest team in the NFL and a darkhorse at the same time. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
It has always been that way. I can't remember the last time any ESPN people picked the Skins. I don't think "Swami" has ever picked the Skins to win. But that is OK, let us be the underdog the win is sweeter that way.

I hear way to much of the same BS from confused........................fans on this site!

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
Let the haters hate, who cares. We'll see who has the last laugh... this is already a great season.

Damn right, and why do you think TOM BRADY was in the media a few days ago talking about how the Patriots didn't get any respect? Because it's a motivator. As much as I bagged on the Ravens team that won the Super Bowl for being boring and just the best of a field of mediocre competitors, nobody can take that ring away from them. And I feel the same way about every win we get. Any given Sunday. And we have another Sunday to prove them wrong coming up again. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I totally agree. I have been sick of it since the second we won the game and bucs fans started calling my house saying we're gonna need more offense to beat seattle, then its all over the media - what a joke. UUUmmm, hello? we didn't need ANY offense to beat Tampa. Isn't that the object of the game - to win? Too bad "golden boy" Chris Simms and Gruden's "awesome" offense won't have anyone to play next week, they'll be at home sitting on their asses, along with "Chevy Nova" Williams who was shut down for less yards than Portis.
Further, if I recall, against Arizona we didn't exactly put on an offense clinic, but WE WON. The week after that, we beat the living shit out of the cowgirls, an offense clinic was displayed. The results of both games - WINS! Isn't that the object here? to win, how is that getting lost? Joe Gibbs will win, period. That's what matters. The media is a bunch of dum asses. I can't wait to beat Seattle. Be it by one point or a hundred! :httr: |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I know... they were all over their jocks yesterday. I couldn't believe it... you would think they were out there up 30-0. I'm starting to hate Chirs simms too. Did you see him doing the whole c'mon shit with his hand just before he ran out of bounds on his scramble?
New least fav. QB's: 1) Eli 2) Chris Simms 3) Chad Pennington |

No doubt. I'm sure you could pull up numerous old threads that didn't have much hope of the Skins being in the second round of the playoffs. If and when the season ends, it will have been hugely successful with or without a SB title. It is something to build on and I think Joe knows how to "build". TV, radio, print media, and the internet "reporters" and even our own doom and gloomers can all kiss my hairy bean bag. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I dont get why everyone gets so worked up in the media stuff. Everytime the media is all over us, we end up sucking. I love being the underdogs and hope that continues for another month.

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I hate to hear it too but the truth does hurt I guess. Fact is that after playing like we did we cant expect them to say how we are great. Look at Gibbs face at the end of the game after the interception. You could tell that he was not happy with that win. I myself almost feel bad about the win last nite. The good news is we have to and will prove ourselves. Our defense can shut down the Seagals. When we do get the win next week and look good doing it, we will be a contender and they will talk about it. Sportscenter did give us some props last nite about our defense.

You feel bad about the win? Uh..... o...k. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I really don't care this season is already a success in my book, my fandom let me to expect the playoffs but seriously I was thinking maybe next year. We've already done more than I really expected now lets just keep it rolling woo hoo. All that matters is that the fans believe, Defense wins championships was always the motto, suddenly when a defense wins a playoff game it changes? That goes to show you how lame the media is. Who cares what they think as long as we winning!!!!

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
You know what gets me is that last week we are the hottest team in the nfl and all week the media didnt want to pick us to win. We can always count Micheal "the snowman" Irvin out he didnt even pick us to win when we played the 49ers...hater.....
but we did have one smart person that had our backs in the media Tony Kornheiser , he made a prediction and he stuck by it the whole time....hes lookin pretty smart right now. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
As far as I'm concerned let the pinhead sports reporters interview losers all they want. They can ignore us all they want as long as we win. The less we are in the media, the less our opponents know what's going on. Oh and 1 more thing...
I hope Hasselbeck and Alexander have a spare pair of shoes on the sidelines, cause we're going to knock them out of the ones they're wearing Saturday! |

no reason to defend this guy at all, but he is a big fan of Santana Moss and Portis and always features them in his "Playmakers" lists. strictly as alums of "The U" of course... |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I cannot possibly fathom how people can have any praise for Chris Simms today. The kid threw three picks. That's horrible.

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
One thing that bothered me during the game is that the stupid sideline reporter (Suzi Kolber) went on and on about Simms, the Bucs, Gruden, etc., etc., but she rarely, if ever, had anything to say about the Skins. It got to the point that I thought she had a crush on either Simms or Gruden or both. And the camera kept on panning to Gruden and the Bucs fans in the stadium. I know there were lots of Skins fans there too, but you hardly saw them at all.
Anyway, most of what Kolber "reported" was pure nonsense and added absolutely nothing to the game, which is true of most of the network sideline reporters (fat Tony Siragusa included). |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
[QUOTE=GoSkinsGoTerps]Mike Lupica on the Sports Reporters was especially irritating this morning.
Lupica is a joke. He thinks New York is the center of the universe and has never been able to conceal his contempt for D.C. When Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Wizards he was just beside himself. He couldn't believe that Jordan wouldn't want to play for the Knicks because he had convinced himself, along with most of the other New York writers that Jordan somehow considered Madison Square Garden to be his second home. Also, a few years ago he was talking about being at R.F.K. when Wade Wilson nearly got the Vikings into Super Bowl 22 and what an inspiring performance that was. Doug Williams became the first African-American quarterback to win a conference championship that day and he remembers Wade Wilson? Finally, I will be interested to see what Lupica has to say about the fact that his beloved Giants got creamed by a team from, of all places, Charlotte, N.C. That's somewhere in the Bible Belt isn't? How could that have possibly happened? How could the great Micheal Strahan have let that happen? Did Tiki forget to wear his cape? It must have been Shockey's injury. Yeah, that's the ticket. No wait. John Fox used to coach defense for the Giants so that is no doubt the angle Lupica will fall back on. |
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
Like so many have said, let the New York driven media say what they want to. Both New York teams are on the History channel tonight. When we won our first Superbowl, we were considered the "Rodney Dangefield's of the NFL." Which basically meant no respect. Three rings later, the propaganda continues and the subjective commentating will become more vial now that the New York G-strings are finished. You just have to laugh because you understand why they say what they say. Remember Sally Jenkins? No comment.

Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
I love how all these people that never watch the redskins have now concluded based on one bad offensive performance that the redskins can't score and have no chance next week. A couple weeks ago they were putting up 30 points a game. The offense was terrible yesterday...but that doesn't mean it will be terrible again next week. It's like no announcer even takes a minute to credit them for winning a playoff game on the road for f'ks sake. When ABC's postgame came on last night if you didn't know better you would have thought Tampa won the game. The bears have won every game this year with horrible offense yet they are media darlings...
|
Re: Anyone else SICK of the media/commentators?
Everyone wants to talk about how poor our offense was. I don't see it that way. I see it as Tampa Bay's defense being that damn good! I mean, doesn't a number one ranking mean something these days or did the media just happen to forget about that?
