Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I really think the Skins are gonna go after these guys. Reggie Wayne just looks automatic and Davis will be the short yardage dream we need. Image if we had Wayne, Moss and Patten with Cooley running patterns (Unstoppable). I see Danny making major moves......
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
The only dream scenario involving Stephen Davis occurred about 5 years ago. Why anybody thinks this guy still has gas left in the tank is beyond me.
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Is Davis a free agent, or likely to be cut by the Panthers?

He's likely to be in a wheelchair. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I thought that this site was for knowledgeable fans? Stephen Davis?
Wayne is the highest profile FA out there. I doubt the skins get him but he would be a great addition. I would like to see them take a chance on Peerless Price. |

I think the microfracture surgery probably spells the end for Davis's career unfortunately. I'd love to see Wayne in Washington too, and have been actually thinking about that all season. The cap numbers just don't look too promising and it just seems like one of those teams with $30 million plus to spend under the cap will be able to pony-up a lot more dollars than Washington can afford. I know all these things will change as guys get cut and some deals are restructured, but I think the Redskins might find themselves in a tight situation as far as off-season spending is concerned...I mean, you can only restructure Chris Samuels's contract so many times... I think Price has had his chances, I don't think the Redskins need to take a flier on him...if you want a borderline former 1,000 yard receiver go after Koren Robinson... |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
davis...right. he cant stay healthy
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
davis is crap..always injured and too old
we wont be able to afford wayne, and he's overrated anyway...he won't be nearly as good without marvin harrison on the other side and peyton manning throwing to him |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I'd rather see Adam Archuleta & Brandon Lloyd. Or Charles Woodson and B. Lloyd
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I don't see K. Rob being available after a strong ending to the season also he is a night on the town away from a major suspension, who wants that? With the current cap situation they will only be able to go after cheap talent this season. Now in '07.... get ready for a 200 million dollar payroll!!

Danger Will Robinson! I'm having premonitions of K-Drop and Taylor hitting the clubs and getting busted driving 140 mph through PG County with a case of Lowenbrau and a trash bag full of weed in the backseat. Oh yeah, and a couple of glocks under the seat. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Wayne wants to be a #1 WR and will command that kind of role/money (paging Peerless Price and Alvin Harper) and someone will pay him that much.. Stephen Davis had one good season after we let him go and has been damaged good ever since. Beleive it or not, Alstott may be available. He has a big cap $$ and the Bucs are strapped plus they need to re-sign Simms (RFA) so he may be a cap casualty. If a short yardage back is a need (and I'm not sure that it is) there's no better in the game. He also has arms that upon replay are longer than they appear so we may get a phantom 2 pt. conversion!
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Davis is old and crippled. Does anyone remember how often he was injured toward the tail of his career here? He hasn't shown that he could stay healthy in Carolina either.
As for Wayne, I don't want to see him come here. His numbers are inflated as he is playing with the best QB in the league and he has one of the best wideouts playing opposite him. Moreover, he'll want a boatload of money that I think could be better spent. Finally, remember, Danny isn't in control of player-personnel decisions anymore. Plus, I think he's learned from his 2000 spending spree. I'd look for a relatively low-key offseason (other than in the trade/cut department - see, Ramsey, Arrington). |

Alsott is talking about retirement. Plus, I can't see him in anything but a Bucs uniform. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Good points But I think the cap might not be in effect this year if a CBA isn't agreed upon before the draft.

Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Stephen Davis has no place in a Redskins uniform. He had his shot a few years ago, and i think it was a mistake cutting him, but he is too old now.

You're probably right.. Just tossing out there other possibilities. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Forget Alstott! I'm telling you, Sellers could do that job.
It's hard to find anything on the guy's RB abilities, but: http://www.bluebombers.com/index/Sellers_Mike In addition to all the football stuff:
Sellers amassed a 16-3 record as an amateur boxer in the heavyweight division. He totaled 14 knockouts in those 16 victories.
He's a killer! |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I agree Sellars should have had some more carries this year. We need a solid tall receiver to go over the middle and draw safties up so Moss can go for the homerun more.
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
What do you guys think about signing Keyshawn? Word on the street is that Dallas is seriously considering cutting him to avoid paying him a roster bonus. He might resign with them for less money, but then again he might not.
For years I've thought the guy was an overrated clubhouse cancer, but he's coming off one of his best seasons; moreover, he would be the perfect complement to Moss: a big possesion style receiver capable of making tough catches in traffic. I'm not sure he has the "character" to make it past the first interview with Gibbs, but I think he could help us at a much cheaper price than someone like Wayne. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Get TO with trade of Arrington + Draft DE 2nd round + Highly unlikely but draft 3rd round Mini Moss...Sinorice Moss cut Antonio Brown, Raymer, pick up backup oline from NY Giants. I forget the name. Taylor Jacobs is gone so is Walt " Can't Tackle" Harris. They also draft a CB, a couple of Linemen and get some solid backups in FA.

Come on why would we consider picking up a pre-T.O. loud mouth whose skills were never that great in the first place. He had 2 catches in the first game against us and 2 in the last game. Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
The best WR/QB/PT is Antwaan Randle El. This guy is useful for more than receiving and he is not considered a 2# receiver. Let he and Patten battle for the 2# position and go from their. We must pick up at least 2 WRs do to the injuries a lot of them sustain during the regular season.

Good points. I know we're all trying to forget Laveranues Coles, but if you remember, the top free agent receiver a few years ago was Peerless Price, and Coles was a few notches down. If anything, would expect the Redskins to express interest in the second or maybe third best UFA receiver -- Randle El for instance. You're also correct that we're going to need at least two -- Jacobs is definitely gone, and Thrash is either right behind him, or headed for special teams on a permanent basis. We could see a wideout selected in the later rounds of the draft -- unless there's an absolute steal left in the second round when we pick. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I'd love Randle El (#2/3) and David Tyree (#4) of the Giants. They both are special teams beasts as well.
|
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I would like to get Randle El and David Tyree, but the Steelers and Giants will try hard to keep them both.
Randle El would look great in Burgundy & Gold. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I vote drafting Jonathan Orr
|

wouldnt want davis if ya paid me...he's done washed up.. to injury prone now.

Ok you started out by saying "Get TO" and unless the rest of that sentence is "shipped to a remote island" I'm discounting everything you have to say. |

Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
i dont see us getting wayne, but i think our boys just north will (eagles) they have the cap room and need a reciever. I think either Koren Robinson or Brandon Lloyd would be a nice aquisition. Plus drafting one in 3 rd or 4th round.

Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Anybody think about adding David Givens? He's kind of a tweener at receiver he's pretty fast, but kinda physical as well. I've always like the New England receivers. I think if you put him, Moss, and Patten on the field they could really turn into a NE type receiving corps.
One thing that I have to point out for people who say we should pick up TO is that there is no way Mark Brunell could keep TO and Santana Moss happy. I don't know of a whole lot of QB's who could. You don't go out and grab two #1 receivers unless you have a QB who can absolutely spread the ball around and get the job done. Would Brunell improve if we had TO? Maybe, but I doubt that TO would get enough balls to be happy if he were playing alongside someone Brunell already knew and trusted. One thing to consider about Wayne, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, is that he and Santana were college teammates at the U. Maybe he would like to reunite with Mr. Moss and become a dynamic duo again. I don't know, I don't think that would happen, but they all seem to have a certain bond that's stronger than other colleges. They seem to stick together and claim their school as much as possible. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
What about Nate Burleson? I've seen him play a few times and looks like a solid #2, in fact he was the #2 to Randy Moss year before last. As far as Stephen Davis is concerned I think his best years are behind him. All the injuries are working against him at this point in his career.

I'd like to see them take a chance Art Monk in his 50s me before that worthless sack of ****. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
I would like to see Burleson as our #2 but I dont think that the Vikes will let him go and he is a RFA which means that if we do get him we have to give a draft pick to the vikes, unless he was undrafted...

There will be a cap this year in any event. The possibility for an uncapped year is in 2007. |

Oh well, it was a good thought. I wouldn't want to sign off on any more draft picks though. There are too many options for #2 WR in the FA this year to be married to the idea of signing an RFA. |
Re: Really possible for Reggie Wayne and Steven Davis
Moss out of the "U" would be key in the 3rd round
