Bitter Jets Fans?
 

Jets fans are talking and they are talking [URL=http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=29622&highlight=Moss]Moss vs Coles[/URL]. Some of them make sense, others make you scratch your head and say WTF? Here is the ultimate question though, will Moss have as good of a year next year?

Moss is an every down reciever who runs ANY route. They thought they were putting the wood to us on the deal. It worked out the opposite, and they don't like the taste of crow! Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be completely honest, while Moss played outstanding this year, he doesn't even come close to breaking the layer for top tier receivers. If he can replicate a year like this then I'll start to feel a bit more confident about him. Seeing as how our offense as a whole would disappear in big games its hard to tell what of that can be pinned on Moss and what can be pinned on others.

I don't feel Moss will be able to play lights out next year like this year. He'll have a good season, but nothing amazing.

Not sure what you mean with Moss not being a top tier WR. Do you mean you need to see him do it again to believe? Because as of right now he finished #2 in the NFL in yardage, so you'd have to say right now he [b]is[/b] a top tier WR.

A year ago at this time I would have had a hard time believing that Moss was going to be so much better than Coles. But now it's quite obvious that all Moss needed was the chance to show what he could do. In NY they didn't fully utilize his talents, and of course he had some injury problems that didn't help. But since coming here he really took hold of the opportunity and now there's no comparing the two, Moss is clearly the better WR.

All he does is beat his man??

Ummm, yeah that's the idea and what every coach wishes all their WR's could do.

I would love to know what this guy thinks making a big play is. Beating your man is the first step in any big play.

Exactly Matty -- I need to see that this wasn't a one year thing. Regardless of where he was in yards: When I toss out names like Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Tory Holt, Anquan Boldin, etc, etc. Take the personallity that you may like or dislike away from each of these and look at a skill level. Would you keep Moss over any of them? I wouldn't.

If I see Moss replicate a year ANYTHING even remotely close (top 10 receiving, 6-7+ TD, being a staple in our offense for 16 games) I'll feel more confident.

All Alexander does is run for yardage and touchdowns. I mean it's not like he's any good.

The Moss vs. Coles isn't even worth discussing with these bone-headed, ultra-homer Jets fans.

If they prefer Coles and his stellar 11.6 yards per catch more power to them.

Well if we're talking about who's a better for this offense I'd have to take Moss. He's one of the best screen WRs in the league, and since that's a staple in this passing game you could mention him ahead of guys like Owens, Harrison, etc.

Moss didn't have a worthy compliment across from him either. Outside of TO all the guys you listed have pretty solid #2's and even #3's playing along with them.

I follow your logic, but I have to say that I would take Moss over Boldin. I just don't see enough from him to think that he's that much better. He had a very good year in spite of his injuries and that play against San Fran was crazy, but Fitzgerald ended up in the Pro Bowl from that team, so it wasn't a one man show. Like I said, I see what you're saying, but I have faith that Santana can have a similar season and I would take him over Boldin, but if we're only judging talent, he [B]might[/B] be the only one on that list. I can see where you're coming from, I don't know that I necessarily agree, but I do see where you're coming from.

i think those fans are related to eagle fans.payton manning didnt do anything but get the ball to the receivers,is this what is meant by moss didnt make plays,he just ran by his man?if those fans are so happy with coles,why the thread?ask any knowledgeable fan who they would want on their team and every one of them takes moss.the funny thing is coles was suppose to be the burner that moss is,coles would be a good possesion receiver for the skins

Yes . . . Let's see a worthy #2 drawing some attention away from Moss. If he could post this year's stats being our ONLY WR threat, then he should be more effective if Patten comes back strong, or we find another top WR.

Another thing Moss does well is position himself perfectly on long passes. Speed is a big factor, but judgment about how to get to where the ball is going should not be taken for granted.

And Moss has turned into a solid possession receiver, whatever the Jetset may think.

I think Santana is probably the third best in the NFL right now. Only Steve Smith and Chad are better, in my opinion. I know that sounds like homerism, but.....

And if you look at Santana's avg. per catch with the Jets, it was damn good there. He was oft injured with hammy problems and think that's why we see such a big jump in his numbers this year.

Seriously, so Steve Smith must suck cause he left Bears corners laying in the dirt since they couldn't keep up with him. That's just stupid. It doesn't even make sense!

I'd take Moss over Boldin without a doubt. And you can't take away personality because it has a direct affect on their ability to help a team or not. Taking into consideration personality as one properly should I would take Moss over TO and Randy Moss. Now I'd certainly take Chad Johnson over our Moss but I'd have to find good reason to take Harrison or Holt over our Moss. Moss just fits perfectly into what Gibbs tries to do. None of those guys you mentioned can run the screen like Moss and none has the speed of Moss. I am not saying he is better than all of them because there are surely things they do better than Moss but it is hard to compare what Moss does with what is a typical WR in the league right now. With the success of quick homerun guys like Moss and Steve Smith we are going to see an increase in the small fast playmaking WRs in the next few seasons I think.

Don't be so tough on this guy. He is a Jets fan and hasn't seen a big play in a while. He has probably forgotten what they are. The biggest play they've seen in years was Edwards' play to get the hell out of there.

It's sour grapes by Jet fans, I knew it when we traded for him, the Jets didn't know what they had, Moss's only problem with the Jets was Pennington couldn't reach him with that noodle arm of his, another case of a WR being knocked because of the lack of offense around him, or an inferior QB throwing him the ball. It's easy to see how much a WR is at the mercy of the QB in an offense, Moss didn't become a better player when he arrived with us, we just utilized his abilities.

You mean when he went to Gibbs playing against Dallas and said if I just cut that rout up field I will be open? Actually, they have some pretty thoughtful and objective posters in that thread. If you get past the retarded #2 post, everyone seems to be saying that Moss had a great year, he is an explosive player and an offensive threat, he showed up Coles this year, the Jets' QBs sucked. They all recognized that the Skins used Moss the way he needed to be used, and, further, that Moss saved their hides a number times when he was on the Jets.

Pretty on target if you ask me.
