I got an Art Monk Jersey!

May I add.....CHEAP!
I picked it up cheap at eBay because it was mis-labled and so less than average numbers of folks saw it to bid on it.

It was under RESKINS not REDSKINS.

I got a "Players of the Century" White, ALL Stitched Numbers and letters #81 Art Monk jersey for.......$36.00. $45 after shipping.

YES!!!
I'll be wearing it when they induct Art into the HOF this year I hope.

Viva le Monk!

Why does hardly anyone have M jerseys? Do they assume people are going to be putting these over pads?

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

Not sure bro. You can't hardly find a Large. I'm ok with an XL because I'll wear it in the fall and winter so I'll have a sweatshirt on underneith most likely.

Maybe the Meds and Larges sell in stores and these make it whole saled out to ebay sellers.
Not sure

You know, there are a lot of people out here, like ME, that actually fit into these XL jerseys. I end up finding a lot of medium jerseys and wonder why there aren't any bigger ones. Oh the irony. :)

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

Stiched on numbers but this is not an original type jersey. The Redskins never wore the thin color banned arms in the 80's. I guess I just don't understand the reason for buying a jersey of a past player that does not even look like an original. If you like the true old ones might I suggest a Mitchell & Ness.

I can't afford a $250 Mitchell and Ness

Where do these Player of the Century jerseys come from anyway?

I see them all over EBay. Obviously they're not officially licensed, does someone just make these in their basement or something??

I've got a Doug Williams M&N jersey, sometimes you can find good deals on them.

yeah if i remember you don't like the player of the centrury jerseys do you? I have the monk in question here but in red. The thing is there is no official monk that you can get and they are all just throwbacks. Players of the Century only goes on on ebay from what i can tell and they are cheap. I got mine for like $22 bucks but $18 dollars for shipping or something like that a long time ago.

I also have one of these beauties http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8740937492&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1. I got it because it doesn't have air holes on it and signatures look great on it. I have about 20 or so autographs on it. I didn't get mine for nearly that much though. I got it for under $40 and if i remember correctly it was $37 including shipping.

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

I went somewhat ghetto for my Monk jersey last year. I ordered it off of NFLshop.com because I couldn't find one I liked on eBay. I ordered a personalized jersey with Monk and #81.

The only problem, and I could be the only one to notice this because I'm a big loser, is that the lettering is slightly different than a normal jersey. The M and the O are more rounded and not the typical boxed letters. But at least I've got it, so it's all good.

MONK TO H.O.F.

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

SBF please don't take offense, like I said I just have a thing against those jerseys but I'm not saying someone else can't enjoy them.

Besides, I'm surprised a law abiding citizen like yourself would purchase unauthorized NFL merchandise. Isn't this kinda like illegally downloading songs... the people that should be paid for this aren't seeing this money, unless you want to forward a cut to Mr. Monk? ;)

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

For one thing as far as I knew/know this seller is legally selling a item that is legal for me to buy or he would not be able to sell as long and as much as he has. If there is a problem that you are trying to tell me know it's after the fact that I bid on the item.

You get me Art Monk's address and I will mail him and you both a check.

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

Mattyk72, I'm honest when I say that if you will provide me with a good mailing address I will write Mr. Monk and note explaining everything and also a check.

He will then love me for my efforts in honesty and we will instantly become Best Friends at which time he will give me one of the jerseys from a Super Bowl. Heck He will like me so much more after meeting me that he will most likely give me a Super Bowl Ring!

That address?

Thanks in advance!

And continuing to be honest, it never dawned on me this Jersey mught not be legal. I will look it over real well and if I can't find proof I may then mail it to the little pigmys in Africa or hungry children in China.

I'm not sure about the legalities, all I know is that's not an officially licensed NFL product.

By the way you can mail me a check, I'd be glad to pass it on to Monk for ya.

I can't remember when I wore a medium, ever since I started buying my own clothes though, I haven't bought anything smaller than XL. I will buy dress shirts in XXL sometimes. I have kind of a big frame.

Yea I agree. It is definitely NOT an officially licensed jersey. I see pepole wearing them all the time at the games (at fedex). I much prefer the ones that ARE licensed only because they look 100% more real. i.e. NFL logo on the neck, Redskins embroidered (or silk screened on replicas) above the numbers. But thats my opinion, and we all know what that means. Opinions are like a-holes, we all have one and they all stink.

Ok, but the nfl jersey did not always have the nfl logo on the collar of the jersey, and the redskins did not always have there names and letters sewn on, nor did the redskins always have Redskins embroidered or screened on their jerseys above the numbers. If you look at the older jerseys they were very basic and made my starter and adidas before being made my reebok. So the ones that you see at the games may just be authentics from that era, and not a rip off.

Yes that is true that jerseys were not always made by reebok and not always sewn on numbers. I think that Doug Williams superbowl jersey was actually screen printed, as were many others im sure. But its actually pretty easy to spot a fake jersey just by looking at teh arm bands. Believe me most of the jerseys I own are from before the era of nfl logos on the chest. I have plenty w/o that logo. Steelers win by at least 10.

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

This was my point about the one that Sammy baught. The arm bands. They are thin where as in the 80's they were wide. If you are gonna buy a replica, whether sewn numbers or not it at least should look like the real one.

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

The jersey is nice.
Material is lightweight and the numbers and name are heavy material and stitched nicely. This seller was VERY Slow and I had to give him a Neutral rating and some warnings to future bidders.

For a total of $45 I am happy with what I got but upon recieving I don't see any official NFL markings on it.

MattyK72 did ya ever find me Art Monk's address so I can send him his cut?

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

Here is my question...why does Ricky Ervins have a Mitchell and Ness jersey? Doug Williams? I get it. Sam Huff? Of course! But Ricky...Ervins? He played what, like 2 decent years with us and one or two with the Browns? He was actually my favorite player when he was with the Skins (I even modeled my signature after an autograph I got from him at the opening of Bubbles Hair Salon at Montgomery Mall) but this doesnt make much sense to me.

Does anyone have an explaination or thoughts on this?

Re: I got an Art Monk Jersey!

I went ahead and bought a Monk jersey this week on ebay myself. I am fully aware that this jersey is not licensed by the nfl, art monk, or your mother, but either way it was cheaper than the stores sell replicas with silk screened numbers and nameplate. If you want to know the price our see the auction let me know, but heres what I just bought!

Art's jersey doesn't have the offical NFL logo or the word "REDSKINS" at the bottom of the collar, that jersey isn't authentic! How could he wear a knockoff to a game?

This guy has a few more of these type jerseys.
They all end today but are still very cheap.
