I'm glad they sent him there...he needs practice and he should be able to do really good there. They also sent Aki Jones and 6 others |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Good move. They see the raw speed that Brown has and are looking to improve his hands.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Good Idea
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
This is strange, just yesterday I was afraid that he might not return next season and thought it would be better to allocate him to NFL Europe rather than release him again. His explosive speed will keep him around a little longer as long as he improves his recieving skills. This is a guy who was said to be better than Santana back in their High School days so you know he is capable.

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
With all this talent the redskins will be a force for many years to come......
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
This is a great chance for him to learn how to field punts. And catch passes.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
AND he went to the team I support and who are last year's Champs the Amsterdan Admirals!!!!
Yes! Ya'll should follow the NFLE a little bit in this off season. They have an 8 week season and only 6 teams. Hey, they are trying to cram soccer down out throats lets get REAL Football going over there I say. Go Admiral Antonio Brown! http://nfleurope.com/ |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
he needs it. right now he's just a track guy with minimal football skills.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
It would be amazing if he came back with golden hands, and learned when to fair catch and when to not.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
i hope he's the next dante hall
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
It is obvious that he lacks awareness on the football field... what better place for players to improve in this category.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Can they fit him with a new pair of hands over there, or perhaps show him when to fair catch a punt?
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I'm with all you guys. I think we all are a fan of his speed but his decision making has to be better and for god sakes find the 2 limbs that are attached to your arms called hands.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I try to pay attention to the NFLE, but I do not get into it that much. I will watch more now that A. Brown is over there, I really think that his speed will be unmatched over there and I think he will learn alot while he is there, hopefully...

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I think I saw that March 13th is the first game. Another reason to watch other than Antonio picking up said skills, is Rhein Fire's Drew Henson. Lets hope this loser finally realizes baseball was his calling. The main thing i hate about NFLE is that the skins send those players, and then they all go to different teams, well some of them do. There has to be a way to split the teams so that current players are joined with current teamates.

I agree that they should try to put players on the same team, not only will it help what ever nfle team they are on, but it will also help whatever nfl team they are on by building commarodery(SP). Also make it easyer for fans to know what team they are most interested in. |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Can they fit him with a new pair of hands over there, or perhaps show him when to fair catch a punt?
Better yet, they need to fit him with a bigger scrotum and some bulkier balls, because when fielding punts he acts like a squirrel caught in the middle of the street who can't decide which way to run. He's so jittery and fearful of contact, often downright intimidated. All I think he needs is to build some confidence. The return game is pretty much two things, if you have them both, you can be a stud: 1) Blazing speed with some moves 2) The balls to run full speed at the oncoming coverage team, and confidence in yourself to find a small crease and hit it with authority. Basically you just run straight towards oncoming traffic. Right now he's way too scared to do it right. But if he can build confidence in NFL Europe, that's all I think he needs to be great. |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I think he just needs some fundamentals on the punts. Parcells says there are two reasons punt returners fumble: They are either drifting or reaching. He needs to learn how to run to the spot and set up rather than floating lazily under it.
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Playing in Amsterdam will give a whole new meaning to the phrase "Antonio Brown has blazin' speed"...or "His goal of playing professional football was more than just a pipe dream"
I didn't even Jonathan Combs was still on the roster, by the way. |

Brokeback mountain could it be parcells? |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I know it is easy to pick on Brown but....
If he doesn't run that kick back people would be calling for Gibbs to retire. |

you guys want to pull your pants up a bit? Why is Jerry Jones wearing the same outfit as the coaches? Was he planning on working with the backup quarterbacks or something? Have some dignity and lose the coulats. Be more like this guy: |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I know it is easy to pick on Brown but....
If he doesn't run that kick back people would be calling for Gibbs to retire.
This is true, that was one of the instances where he returned the ball with a lot of confidence. I really and truly believe it's a mental block. Everyone knows how to run under a punt, that's not hard to do physically speaking. It's all in your head, you have to be willing to ignore the oncoming freight trains that are looking to level you. You have to focus. If you're scared and intimidated, you're going to have trouble and that's what appears to be his problem to me. Especially on punts, he's just indecisive and afraid to run forward, so we get a lot of the dancing around. |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
...when fielding punts he acts like a squirrel caught in the middle of the street who can't decide which way to run.
That's a great line, and it sums up his weakness completely. |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
brown seems to be better suited to return kickoffs.i think the reason you saw so much uncertainity out of him on punt returns that he was getting hang on to the ball drilled into his head, that he wasnt able to just react and try to make a play
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Well I hope he learns something while he's there. I was upset when he fumbled in that game early in the season. I was so happy that they cut him, but when they brought him back I questioned the decision. He just didn't seem to have his head in the game. I was glad he had a few highlights, but I think they should stick with Betts.

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Antonio Brown needs this NFLE experience and whatever he can get in the way of coaching over there. At the moment, Antonio Brown is today's version of Cliff Russell - - he can run faster than just about anyone in the league AND he can't catch a cold.
Russell hung on for 3 years or so because he was so damned fast that coaches could not believe that they couldn't teach him something simple like catching a football. After all, you can teach a 7-year old how to do that, no? But Russell never learned and now he's off to some other career. Antonio Brown needs to improve about as much as Cliff Russell needed to improve; Brown's hands are substandard for an Ivy League wide receiver. But he can run - very, very fast. And so he has an opportunity in NFLE this spring and will get a lot of tutelage in minicamp and traiing camp and ... The bottom line is simple: Can he be taught how to catch a football reliably? Cliff Russell couldn't. |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I think brown has more speed and football experience right now than cliff did, but he isn't worth anything until he transitions from track guy to an actual WR (in college he only ran fly routes on almost every play).

I agree or pick up somebody in the offseason, but an 8 week season in Europe can't hurt. I'd love to see him come back and make a believer out of me. |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
he needs to have a whole lot of passes thrownhis way. that is the only way anyone will know whether or not he can make the transition to nfl receiver

what a terrific point.. but even guys like thrash sometimes have problems whenthe wind moves the ball around. remember when george allen had the punting machine re fitted so that the spiral would be left handed (footed?) when we were about to face a lefty punter? man that guy thought of everything i just remembered, it was donnie anderson when he played with the cards after leaving green bay.. a long time ago.. showing my age LOL |

on kickoffs where there is usually one big wave of players i like a guy like betts because he runs north and south and can take a pounding. on punts the coverage sometimes gets strung out a bit and sometimes you can get to the edge and cut upfield. i still like the b mitch/mike nelms style of returning straight up the field. it takes tremendous courage to do that |

betts does not return punts. thrash can do it, but he lacks speed and moves now |
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Is Antonio Brown still playing in the NFLE? I went to NFLE.com and I dont see him mentioned anywhere on there. I did check out the Admirlas website also and no mention of him even on the roster. I hope that he is still over there, he was the whole reason I was looking forward to watching a few games this year...
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I think maybe the rosters haven't been updated on the site because I don't see any of the assigned Redskins players listed on any of their NFLE teams
|
Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I hope that is the case, cause like I said I would like to see how he does overthere...
