Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Hey guys,
I just got off the phone with Tony McGee and as he had stated we are going to get together once every month or so and just talk some football. Early next week I'm going to be calling him back to do the interview, so please post your questions here, and we will go about this the same way we did during the regular season and postseasons. Mods if you could sticky this for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys Jason (Gmanc711) |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, say there isn't a new CBA and the Skins have to begin a purge. Who do you purge and who do you keep at all costs?
|
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
tony, how close do you think the skins are?(granted the cba gets signed and the core remains the same)
|
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, do you feel the Redskins (and other highly profitable teams) have an obligation to share their revenues with the "lower level" teams?
Should we bring back the Gus Bus for QB depth once we trade Ramsey? |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
and of course....
Tony, what's your favorite pie? (I can't believe all those times I talked to him I never asked him that) |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, thanks for doing this. What's your take on the Lavar situation? Can he still play? Should the Redskins move heaven and earth to try and keep him, etc?
Updated question: Tony, do you think the Redskins will regret letting Lavar go and what are the chances he ends up in our division? |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, how much of an improvement can we expect from the offense in 2006 with the addition of Al Saunders?
|
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
if the cba doesn't get done, which starters would you realease first to make up whatever portion of the $8million the skins need to get under the cap after obvious cuts? (some restructures may help, but it'd basically require player giving money back since an expiring cba kills bonus proration and tacks on the 30% rule).

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Thanks for taking our questions Tony!
David Patten is aging (at 32), Jacobs is a disappointment, Thrash is aging and his cap figure might make him a cap casualty, and Jimmy Farris wasn't very productive. Therefore, isn't it at least plausible that with the exception of Moss, we might have an entirely new receiving corps in 2006? I think our offseason priorities are: (1) new wideouts, (2) a pass rushing d-lineman, (3) new nickel and dime corners, (4) a solid blocking tight-end, and (5) depth along the offensive line. Where do you think our needs are and in what priority? |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
how are we going to pay to address our needs when players are going to have to give back close to $8million to avoid cutting starters (and then the skins need 2$mill for draft picks beyond that).

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Just so anyone who is wondering knows, the interview has been put off until an offical word on the CBA and who is released and how much money we have (so basically within the next couple days), but just because everything is so circumstancial.

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Thanx Tony for the time!
With the addition of Al Saunders, how do you envision the running attack and the current backs we have fitting into it? |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, your thoughts on Arrington's release?
|
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
(assuming the CBA gets done) do you really think the redskins are in need of a pass rushing DE and WR? or can david patten get the job done and the redskins should use that money on OL depth and an LB to replace arrington?
speaking of which, who do you think should replace arrington? |
Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Also our 2ndary is looking kind of weak. With Clark becomes a RFA releasing Harris and Springs not getting any younger and more injuries, who are you thinking will be in the redskins future with Sean Taylor and Carlos Rogers? And with Joe Gibbs preaching that he doesn't put up w/ players who aren't "good personalities" is Sean Taylor's personality being overlooked due to his athletic talent or is his future not looking very burgundy and gold?

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
im thinking the skins either sign a young cb from FA or go after a couple in the later rounds

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, any word on how Randy Thomas is progressing in his recovery? I have no reason to believe it would hurt him going into the 2006 season, but I'm anxious about him because I feel he was such an important part of our offense. Any word?

Re: Offseason Questions for Tony McGee
Tony, thanks again for visiting us!
What do established players do during off-season in order to maintain that edge, or to step up to the next level? Do they spend extra hours in the gym, lift weights, utilize personal trainers, perform wind sprints, climb steps, study playbooks, work out with other teamates, and only eat certain types of healthy foods? Or do they chill, kick back, travel, vacation, and put on weight like us(me) in TheWarpath.net? |
