Archuleta hit the road......
The Ram have signed Corey Chavous to a 5 year deal to replace Archuleta at the S spot as reported by the AP.

Re: Archuteta hit the road......
wow...that's a pretty big addition for the Rams. Makes me wonder why Chavous wasn't on the Skins radar. I didn't even know he was a free agent. I would have preferred to put him back there with ST.

Re: Archuteta hit the road......
I mentioned him... I think he was the best FA safety. I'd be interested to hear his contract numbers though. much better than AA and the rams are winning the offseason right now.
monster DT (stopgap, still good) centerfield S (plenty of years left, smart, quality guy) |
Re: Archuteta hit the road......
Archuleta. The next Matt Stevens?

I never really liked Matt Stevens...did anyone else get the impression that whenver he thought he might miss a tackle he would just grab the facemask? I don't know if there's anything more insulting than calling another safety Matt Stevens...kinda like when I call Peyton Manning the Alex Rodriguez of the NFL. |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
I was good with Stevens for most of his time with the club. What are Archuleta's strengths?
|
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
Apparently Archuleta is meeting with the Bears on Monday. I wonder if we met with Archuleta to force the Bears to up their ante to him and thereby maybe not have enough to sign Randle El. Or if we're meeting with Randle El for the same reason.
My gut says no, but still... |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
Maybe the Skins will just make everyone cancel their trips to Chicago. That would be sweet!

Archuleta is like a poor mans Roy Williams that still has the ability to play at a pro bowl level. He'll basically be an enforcer across the middle with Taylor. Man can you imagine running a slant route and getting hit by Archuleta, Taylor, and Washington at the same time. Actually he reminds me a bit of Pat Tillman and Michael Boulware. He played LB in college but was drafted 20th overall as a safety. Hope this helps. |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
The issue that I have with Archuleta is simply that he can't cover. I like to watch him light people up, but I think I could create separation on Adam Archuleta

monster DT (stopgap, still good) centerfield S (plenty of years left, smart, quality guy)
He got 16 million for five years....first three years it said in the AP he will get about 4 million annually the first three years. Hope that helps! :) |

huge for a safety, hits hard, plays the run well and can handle the super heavy running backs (remember alstot blasting clark backwards?). |

damn... yeah thanks, it just makes me depressed we didn't make an attempt on him. I think GW is going for a fear based defense though where no one wants to catch the ball. |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
I don't want Archuletta or Randle-El.
For the love of God will they sign a pass rusher... |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
he is a better matt bowen,
hitter who cannot cover |

Lenny P. Says: Big hitter who has averaged 77.4 tackles for his career, but will whiff on some tackles and too often takes bad angles. Has five times as many sacks as interceptions (15-3) and has to play in a scheme that gets him close to the line of scrimmage to be most effective. I don't know about you guys but Gary Williams is probablty going nuts trying to get this guy. |

My bad. Gregg Williams lol. Sorry I'm still a little upset from that BC game yesterday. |
Re: Archuleta hit the road......
so you guys think resigning ryan clark is 2nd choice after archuletta? or is he not gonna be a skin next year?

But the more I think about it Greg 'Williams does pretty well with younger guys whereas Gibbs likes veteran on offense. Of course they're exceptions, possibly we'll draft a CB and a DT or S in the draft? |

not S if we get AA, but yeah. the DT depth in the 2nd and 3rd is actually better than the DE depth (which has talent, but incomplete players). And of course, if the targetted DTs are gone you can get a decent CB there or a very very good OG (and spencer can play OG, OT and spent two years at DT). |
