Re: Edge to Arizona
Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports free agent RB Edgerrin James (Colts) has agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals. Terms of the deal are not yet known, but the team will announce it later on Sunday, March 12.
Thank god they won't get DeAngelo Williams......wheeew |
Re: Edge to Arizona
Good for the Arizona fans. They deserve a good team. What a painful history of a franchise.

He is the same size as Tomlinson..... Edge is 28 so I would rather they have him. By the time my 9ers are in full swing Edge will be 30+ PS: as long as Warner is their QB they will not finnish above .500 I got money on that..... |
Re: Edge to Arizona
That offense just keeps getting better. They already have great WRs and now they add Edge. That's a huge addition for them. A good running game can take a lot of pressure off of the QB and allow him to be successful. Look at Washington. When the offense was clicking everything was working pretty well for them. With this addition the Cardinals now have a legit running game.
This could make the NFC West a little bit interesting with Rams doing whatever the hell the Rams are doing and the Hawks obviously impressing last season. Now you have the Cards possibly moving up to try to take a wild card spot away from some teams in the NFC, very interesting. |
Re: Edge to Arizona
Good 4 the Cards but I think they still need to bring in some OL help for this potent offense because everyone knows it all begins with 5 fat guys

These guys are exceptional and top flite backs but there size isn't there strong point. Byh no way am I knocking these players they are at least in Sanders case legendary but you cannot just say this guy is the same height and weight as barry sanders that doesn't mean much. There have been alot more guys Ladanian and Barry's size that never do jack then shatter records. |
Re: Edge to Arizona
I think this means the Colts will be trading up to get a RB.
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
wow. Contrary to belief they actually tried to run the ball a good amount last year but they sucked at it. Two 1400 yard receivers but they couldn't break 3.0 yards per carry. Now their offense seems to be set but they need a defense.

Re: Edge to Arizona
I still am not sure with Arizona, they were suppose to breakout last season, and a couple seasons before that, still waiting......

James and Green are on ESPN Now!!! Now what dose Indy do???

HUGE first year of that deal!!
Cardinals | E. The contract will pay him $14.5 million in the first year through salary, signing bonus, and roster bonus. Cardinals | Contract update: E. James Sun, 12 Mar 2006 13:21:55 -0800 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James' four-year contract worth $30 million has the following breakdown: James receives an immediate signing bonus of $7 million and an additional roster bonus of $4.5 million later this week. James' base salaries are $3.25 million for 2006, $5.25 million (2007), $5 million (2008) and $5 million (2009), according to sources. The deal will pay James $20 million over the first two years. By comparison, the $62 million contract signed last week by RB Shaun Alexander with the Seattle Seahawks pays $18.5 million in the first two years. |

Re: Edge to Arizona
Why this is good for Washington that James when to the Cards. First he is not in the NFC east. Then this gives the Seattle a team that will not roll over two times a year! Because if the Skins wanted to win a super bowl we need to be at home in the play-offs!

I know they're having a great offseason, but for whatever reason, I forgot who their coach was. I was still thinking Martz for some reason (too much school going on right now). That's why I was taking that shot at them, I forgot all about Linehan coming in. I think this should make the NFC West very interesting this season. |

I wasn't saying it was a bad decision, merely stating that he's getting a ton of money in the first year. |

yeah, and if he blows up his leg or some such in the preseason or has a career ending injury, they're totally screwed. |

Isn't any team who loses their franchise back screwed if he gets hurt? |
Re: Edge to Arizona
The cowgirls have to play the cards in Az this season. I might go to that game just to root for the cards!!!
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
Lets just be glad that we don't have to play them twice every year like we used to. That offense looks scary and that defense wasn't half bad last year. They have a lot of potential and they are going to give a lot of teams a hard time especially in that division.

Re: Edge to Arizona
Isn't any team who loses their franchise back screwed if he gets hurt?
yeah, but in that post i was reply to the fact that he gets 15mill in his first year. so if he comes up lame it hurts more than just losing a franchise back, cause not only is he not producing, he's also screwing your cap and ability to get a replacement. |
Re: Edge to Arizona
Their defense could hold their own but was suspect to occasional mental lapses... things like blown coverages, people out of position, etc. What really has me doing a double take is the potential for that offense with the addition of James. They had a great pair of receivers and a decent O-line. If they fully utilize James in the offense with his running ability and pass catching coming out of the backfield, many defenses will have their hands full with this team.

Re: Edge to Arizona
AZ was such a fun game for our D last year though. too bad our offense made it better for their D as well. just glad we played them last year not this year
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
Is this Arizona we're talking about?
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
I have lived in AZ since i was 3 years old. Born VA. and I jerk off to skins highlights but......with this pick up and maybe a QB soon, Denny may have a divisional playoff team goin here. I know..thats what all the (i am an awesome analysis guy/darkhorse picker) guys said last year. Those receivers are pretty Effin good.....this will deff open it up 4 them cause line is not bad either.
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
Who's going to throw them the ball after Warner? I hope they're planning on drafting someone.
|
Re: Edge to Arizona
Seattle v. Arizona: I want in on THAT fantasy matchup.
I'm with those adopting the wait and see attitude concerning Arizona - They've been the "Next Great Team" a couple of years in a row. On offense they certainly have the horses, although it I seem to recall their O-Line being suspect. |
Who's going to throw them the ball after Warner? I hope they're planning on drafting someone.
they are! santonio holmes can play QB right? denny loves himself a good receiver something fierce. |
Re: Edge to Arizona
I am a little surprised that they didn't make McCown their guy and let Warner go.
McCown is young and I think he has shown that he can play at this level. Also, The Edge is going to help them out big time. He is a horse and he is from the U. |
Re: Edge to Arizona
i think mccown won more games for denny than anyone else. i was shocked when they picked warner over him. I mean, he's not really any good, but he has some upside and was getting better.
