Would you accept TO?

Ok so now that TO is 99.9% on the Dallas Cowboys, I pose a question. If you were a Dallas fan would you accept TO, after he disrespected your entire francise(star incident)? Actually let me change that;if any of us were Cowboys fans, we would probably kill ourselves:laughing2. Lets say TO did the star thing at our stadium midfield. Would you ever accept this player on your team? I was shocked at this Cowboys forum, because there were a good amount of people that had changed their avatars to TO ones, and were super excited about him. As a true fan, I would never ever accept a player on my team of that nature, after he did something like that. I understand he might help them win, but real fans know that winning is great, but not everything. Real fans know that being a real fan is having respect for your team, and getting TO is not respectful towards the Cowboys. What would guys do?

This is the equivalent of Deion coming to the Skins, I wouldn't like it one bit if I were a Cowboys fan.

Very true, but Deion did not do anything like TO did right(refering to star incident), so I think that would make TO worst. Atleast I think he didnt, right?

Here is the difference -- Deion was an egomaniac, but he was a team guy. TO is a team killer.

This is the ultimate team sport. The team that signs TO will have a worse record in 2K7 than they did in 2K6.

I would hang myself if TO came here.

I'd bet there would be alot of you guys kissing his butt and posting thing like....maybe he needs another chance, or maybe Gibbs can straighten him out, or i think he learned his lesson. And it would be tempting for me to think that way also because the lure of winning is so great.

Here's a nice thought - The only reason TO is even in the news is because his skills are so great, but what happens when he loses a step (and he's no spring chicken). He'll probably never get the chance to have a long career because nobody is going to take a chance on him when he can't score 15 TD's a year...........unless they want him as a mentor too their younger players....haha

and thats why the eagles did so well and ssuspended him last year?

he's a TOTAL loser. he has talent, but he can't beat 10 other guys by himself, and somehow, through all these years, he still doesn't get that.

Re: Would you accept TO?

Everything around him has to be perfect for TO to play well and be productive on and off the field. If the smallest thing goes wrong the last person to try to remedy that situation and give the team a lift is TO. He'll give the "Look at me. Look how I suffer" speech and bring the situation down even more.

TO is a team killer!!!! You might win....you might win for a season...maybe win it all....but at some point he will burn the team to the ground! Look at 49ers and Eagles after he left. Still three a charm and if he has to kill someone it might as well be the Boys!!!

If you DON"T "invite" him in your practice facility, he can't hurt you. Keep your crucifix close (just in case)

Hell NO to TO!!!
So glad the skins didn't make an offer.
Watch whoever get him drowned in sorrow.

Re: Would you accept TO?

Definitely glad the Skins did not make an offer to TO, but I don't know that he will kill the team he signs with the FIRST year. Remember it took him a whole season to self destruct in Philly . . . hopefully it implodes on the 'Boys but I think he might tow the line for a time and he is about 4 times the receiver Keyshawn is. Too bad there won't be any place to hide against the Skins secondary with Taylor and Archuleta lurking . . .

It's hard to imagine. If I was a Dallas fan, I'd probably accept Owens, but I'd also be married to my cousin.

What has he ever won? What team has he ever put on his shoulders? The year the Eagles went to the Super Bowl, T.O. didn't even play through the final few games of the regular season and all of the playoffs.

What T.O. has consistently done, however, is create turmoil and havoc for any team he's played for, and burn every bridge he's ever crossed.

Re: Would you accept TO?

I talked to 3 Dallas fans yesterday about the same thing. After disrespecting their team by celebrating a touchdown on their MIDFIELD STAR !!!! One of the most satisfying sports moments in my life by the way. He didn't stop there though, after he went to the Eagles he did the same thing on the helmet in the endzone. The Cowboys fans said that he would do it in Washington to kind of prove himself . The Skins fans lauhed becasuse we knew he would nearly be killed from a Sean Taylor hit, causing Taylor to get the keys to Dan Snyders house. I know it would never happen but it made us laugh for about 10 miniutes.

Re: Would you accept TO?

I'll bet a lot of Dallas fans will be a little upset at his signing. After a while when TO comes in nice and quiet with his little hands folded in his lap sitting just behind and to the left of Daddy Parcells Dallas fans will start to accept him. He'll score 3 TD's in one of the first few games (not verus us). The Dallas fans will raise him up on their shoulders. Then the Cowboys will play the Redskins and Sean Taylor will hit him so hard that TO cries...forever!

"TO, why are you crying?"

"Sean hit me!"

"TO, that was 27 years ago!"

Re: Would you accept TO?

My wife is a cowpokes fan & she seems to think parcells can tighten him up a la keyshawn. Which may be true, after all he's about on his last leg. as someone pointed out, he's getting to the age where he'll slow, especially if he gets injured or banged up.
The catch 22 of an incentive laden contract for TO is that if he performs well & meets the incentives he'll want to renegotiate for guaranteed $.
I see him goin to the boys & behavin for a while, but before long he'll get pissed that he's not the center of attention there. He really is a child emotionally, can't stand not to get attention, even if its all negative. Since parcells gets most of the press there followed by R. Williams, I wonder who TO would lash out at. Probably bledsoe, TO seems to like to go after his own qb, & Bledsoe fits the profile; a classy guy who probably would let a lot slide before saying anything.
I also think he'll burn us a time or two, but as long as we get the last laugh & ST gets to rough him up I'll be all the happier.

Re: Would you accept TO?

I would be tempted to sign him, if I were in charge of a last-place team with no passing game. But if I were in charge of a team like the redskins and put some thought into it, there would be no reason to consider him. The redskins at this point, don't need a playmaker at wide receiver with his type of risk issues.

There are a lot of major risks involved with him. It would be easier to gamble with a last-place team than a contending team - you would have less to lose, and a lot more to gain. I don't know what the broncos, cowboys of this league are thinking. I don't know, but it seems like they're not (thinking).

Re: Would you accept TO?

If I were a Cowboy fan, I would be very worried, but not because of the Dallas Star incident. I thought that was pretty cool!

Teams sign players from rivals all the time. The Redskins welcomed Sam Huff, Jean Fugett, Duane Thomas, Deion Sanders and Jerimiah Trotter from East rivals.

Owens is different. TO is a narcissistic egomaniac with a track record of disrupting team cohesion - one of those intangibles you can't define but can kill you if you don't have it. At some point, things won't go well. Will Terrible Owens help the team turn around, or make it worse? The risk is that he'll make it worse (and I hope he does). Owens can help you big and hurt you big at the same time.

The Cowboy fans will give him a chance on a short lease. Then again, that's Texas, where men are men, and sheep are worried.

I don't know. I am not so worried about having TO against us, I think our secondary can contain him.

I am not however on the TO is a A**hole bandwagon either. I think he was (an a**hole) but like someone said he is getting older now and this is probally his last chance to make any more big money. I don't think he is the kind of player who wants a ring more than money. So I think he will quiet down, make touchdowns and make money.

you know what... third time may be a charm... or maybe he's waiting to see what he can really do to screw up an organization.

Seriously though. I kind of feel for owens because it really does seem like he has some emotional and maybe mental issues, but I would never give him the benefit of the doubt and let him ruin an entire team.
