The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher will be on the cover for Electronic Arts' new video game, NFL Head Coach. The game will challenge the hands-on gamer to build and manage every aspect of a football team from the ground up. Cowher said, "With NFL Head Coach there is finally a game that gives true football fans the chance to strategize and become the head coach of their favorite team. Coaching is about leadership and everyone will now see how difficult, but also how rewarding coaching can be." The game is scheduled to arrive in stores June 20.

Thats a sweet idea for a game. I'm gonna have to get that. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

why couldn't they just add it to madden? its probably like the other spin offs (EA Sports Arena League Fottball anyone? NFL Street? NCAA was okay though.)

I think its probably going to be like Football Manager (only for the NFL instead of European Soccer). I haven't actually seen anything extensive about yet though.

I heard about it a long time ago. Probably close to two years. In the developmental stage. This is the first I heard of it since.

Now, will Bill Cowher break his leg due to the curse?

yeah, but with madden and all that already out for so many years (with coach mode and offseason stuff etc) how long could this take, and how is it different enough to be worth $50?

now that they've announced the cover art, it looks like we'll actually have a release this year.

Anyone heard anything good about it? I enjoy the franchise mode so much. What more will the do for a whole game like that? Although, I have missed designing plays.

EA is making manager games like this for soccer also. i have played it extensivly, FIFA manager 06, very good game. i assume this will be similar, except with football instead of soccer.

that's actually what I was wondering as well because I get tired of sitting through Madden games all the time. I mostly enjoy the offseasons and adding players.

in the soccer game, you pick a team, choose tactics, make transfers (signing, buying players), determine wages, you set up your training regiment, sign coaches, upgrade stadium, build new stadium, choose sponsors, sell add boards, sell your merchandise, choose formations, talk to the players. then you can watch the game be played, which is just like playing fifa 06 except the comp plays for you. you make individual orders and stuff, its very in detail. will much more sophisticated than madden franchise

I actually think I might pick that up. I get really bored playing Madden 1 player. It's just not that enjoyable for me any more. I think this is a great idea. I'll probably pick it up.

why not add it to madden instead of charging 50$ in addition to the 50$ for the roster update?

it will probably only be released on computer, much easier to do with the mouse and keyboard. if they do release it on consoles i would be skeptical of buying it if it is anything similar to EA soccer version

its gonna be on x-box and ps2 i'm gonna get it just because I love the NFL. I think they'll tie something into madden though

I think it's a great idea. I'm happy it's released first, and if it's great, I won't get Madden.

Ha! Stickin it to EA (kinda).

I was always a SEGA fanboy anyway.

So is this game going to be basically a "coaching mode" game only or what?

yeah, like the soccer management games. You do more in depth off season stuff and more in depth weekly stuff like choosing the practice regemin and drills etc...
