For the record I never wanted him either. |

Looks like it could be another Jimmie Johnson situation brewing in Big D. I love it!!!
|
Re: Parcells and T.O
i think parcells not being around with TO was a pretty good sign that everything wasn't all brokeback in Dallas. I am happy. I hope TO knows that his new coach hates him too.
As much as heat snyder gets I know he wouldn't sign no one unless top JG was on board. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
I remember reading from a couple of sources, SI.com among them, that Parcells never attends press conferences for Free Agent signees. That's not to say that the "sources" quoted are not correct, it just means you can't make any assumptions on his not showing up at the presser.

probably does merit its own thread though. He got it off the KFFL feed just like i did. It'll probably be in tomorrow's paper and online at that time as well. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
T.O in dallas, is not good for the skins, but then again look who they have for a QB, I hate dallas

Re: Parcells and T.O
Confirms what many thought given the absolute silence from the Tuna while this spectacle unfolded...will be interesting to watch this soap opera unfold!

Excuse me Mr. Jones, I hate to interrupt, but there is a ................Barry Switzer on the phone for you!

Re: Parcells and T.O
trouble in paradise?if dallas doesnt fix their offensive line,i dont care if you bring back jerry rice in his hay-day,drew(the human statue)bledsoe will not finish the season.by the way,who is dallas back up?is it still drew hensen?

Re: Parcells and T.O
Henson is doing pretty well over in NFL Europe right now.

they've worked on it some. The got kosier (who's nothing special) and fabini (who' actually good) and they're looking at drafting charles spencer among others in the draft as well. letting larry allen go and sign in san fransisco makes the whole thing a 3 steps foward, 2 steps back kind of proposition though. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
I guess Jerry was too busy tweaking his own nipples at the thought of "sticking it to the Redskins" by signing TO. This is going to be proof of what happens when egos get in the way.
|
Re: Parcells and T.O
Bledsoe could have TO, Holt, Harrison and Moss as his receivers but once he sees Philip Daniels coming at him (again), he'll spontaneously self-combust.

Your are absolutely correct. Ever since Parcells took the helm in Dallas he has never ever been present for any free agent signings or press conferences. He has never made any public comment on any free agent signing. So when he does the same thing this season, reporters see it as a negative thing. In fact every off-season since returning to coaching, Parcells stays at his home in Florida until just before the draft. One thing most folks do not realize is that Parcells has total control of his coaching staff and scouts. He asked long-time scouting director Larry Lacewell to retire and then Parcells brought in his own scouting staff, whom he trusts without question. THe results have been favorable when you look at how well the drafting has gone since Dave Campo got canned. Before he leaves for Florida after the end of the season, Parcells, his staff and Jones decide which free agents to target for free agency, and his scouting staff gets busy with the draft as well. Then Parcells heads off to Florida leaving Jerry Jones to do the dirty work of signing those targeted FA's. I find it difficult to believe that ANY owner would pursue a player without speaking with the head coach first. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
True. I still don't see them co-existing. AND with all these new rules, I would be expecting TO to get quite a few penalties.

Technically the backup is Tony Romo. But when McNabb got hurt for Phili, they went with McMahon over Detmer, and Detmer was listed as their backup. So if Drew gets hurt, you might see Henson. |

I am not saying Jim Rome is credible, but it was on his show. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Whether he did or didn't want him, they're bound to clash sometime during the season. Again, Dallas is NOT on the cusp of winning the Super Bowl, hence the reason I don't think TO will do anything for them. They need a running game, they need offensive line help and they need secondary help.
|
Re: Parcells and T.O
Sandtrapjack beat me to the punch don't read to much to this speculations the media leaves from confilct it's just like all the reports before FA every year that says tah tyour team is in CAP hell and wil lneed to dump every player on the roster and every year nothing happens on contraire you're agressive in FA.
And with the line I believe we have upgrade even thought Larry has been a fundation for our team he has been slipping the past years and it's good to star getting new I just hope our FA pickups produce that's it. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
As I'm sure you do. And I'm saying this completely objectively, McNabb is a far superior quarterback to Bledsoe and had a running game (at the time) to fall back on. This is why I'm not worried about the TO addition.
Now I'm basing this purely on opinion, but other than Witten, Dallas really doesn't have any other weapon. I know people want to say Glenn, but no one FEARS him or really is worried about HAVING to put their #1 corner on him. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
McNabb yes is better Quarterback than Bledsoe we all know that but thatbdoesn't say Bledsoe is a bad QB we also being completely objective Bledsoe is far better QB than Mark Brunnell especially with protection, Now J.Jones and Barber are way better than Wedsbrook, and Glenn had an excellent year and that with KJ next to him and one of the worst olines and without jones for half the year, and we can agree that in pure talent and performance TO is an upgrade from KJ.
I believe we will have a more explosive offense this year as I also predict yours 2 because you wil have far to manny options for teams 2 cover. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Actually statwise and performance-wise Brunell was slightly better than Bledsoe, which actually was pretty damn good considering the type of running game we had. The Cowboys, with no running game to speak of, were forced to pass early and often hence padding Drew's stats while still not topping Brunell's.
Jones and Barber are better than Westbrook!? Please. Yes, your offense will be more explosive, but only marginally because the pieces aren't really in place for the REST of the offense. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
if i'm dallas, i'd be worried about the sluggish secondary. one somewhat fast corner that's over 30, and a bunch of slow dbs vs redskins 4 fast WRs and fast RB = a bad matchup.

Re: Parcells and T.O
newman has great speed but for some reason isnt panning out.i thought he was going to be a stud when dallas drafted him

Re: Parcells and T.O
Lots of wishful thinking here.
1.) Dallas has a better O line this year. we all saw Daniels get 28 sacks against our CFL linemen last year. It could not have been worse. Really, that line wasn't as good as the Longhorns line -or the BC eagles! I luv Larry Allen, but he can' t play four quarters anymore. We had our Centre pulling cause Allen could no longer get there. 2.) Newman isn't panning out? WHAT? Teams don't even throw his way. 3.) TO and Parcells. TO in the first year is always an angel. He got his money, and he has never played for a guy with two rings and a bust waiting for him in Canton. Gibbs would've handled TO also, and don't think they weren't interested in signing him. TO opens the field for the running game. No more 8 man fronts every down. McNabb is better than Bledsoe but Bledsoe is on a team that actually uses the running back out of the backfield!! Philly throws wayyyyy too much. Signing TO and Fabiani makes Dallas the front runner in the East this year. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Signing TO and Fabiani makes Dallas the front runner in the East this year.
talk about wishful thinking... where are you getting the rest of your oline and how are your dbs going to keep up with the skins WRs? line up 20 yards deep and see if we can complete uncontested slants and use open running lanes? |
Re: Parcells and T.O
teams have tried the three fast wr route before - worked for you guys in the eighties - but like any scheme there is a defense.
Our O line is better by default - couldn't possibly be worse... |
Re: Parcells and T.O
I'm not worried about T.O. as long as we have Shawn Springs and Sean Taylor in our lineup. I remember replays of the way they handled him in the Eagles games. Taylor laid out Owens a few times and managed to shut him up pretty quick.
|
Re: Parcells and T.O
I agree that Dallas' offense could be better, but a lot depends on the o-line gelling and also T.O.'s behavior.
|

Our O line is better by default - couldn't possibly be worse...
yeah, but you couldn't stop one fast WR last year. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
That Guy
you are right. We couldn't stop one last year. But we had no pass rush either, Brunell had a week to heave those up. Hopefully we have a rush this year. jermus22 If you put Springs on our fastest receiver - Glenn - and use Taylor to double with the other cb on TO, you have to cover Witten with who - Archuleta? Yeah your HB/TE Cooley did okay when we tried to cover him with a SS or an OLB. TO helps us set up that same defensive headache. |

oops,
no HTML here... If I only looked up and saw the bold symbol.... |

In TO's last 3 games against us, he's had 10 catches for 103 yards and 1 TD total.......in 3 games. I'm not worried about TO ever giving us a defenseive headache. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
A good team with a smart coach with talent in the secondary could stop the Philly attack that was pass, pass, pass, pass to the rb, then pass, pass, pass.
TO will open the game up for Dallas' running game. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
And when the S hesitates and peeks in to the backfield? One of our recievers will have gone by him.
Of course this only works if our O Line gives Bledsoe time. We'll see. |

TO will open the game up for Dallas' running game.
Hmmm, that's interesting because in TO's last 3 games against Dallas (including the partial game in which he broke his leg), TO had 13 catches for 208 yards and 3 TDs.......so by implication...... I agree with you that Dallas's running game stands to benefit from TO being there......but against us I'm just not worried. If he ever got the better of us, I might be concerned......but we've consistently shut him down regardless of the offense he's playing for, even when all the other teams in the NFL got torched by him. |
