The Giants are ALREADY whining
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7310267
Some of the NY Giants are already complaining about the toughness of Tom Coughlin.. Add that to the complaining by the veterans over the release of Collins and that's one less team we have to worry about this year! :food-smil Yes, I meant Collins.. I made the change, sorry for the brain fart.. |
You mean the release of Collins, don't you? If Strahan is out there, we'd have cut Trotter already to get him.
|
noooo, they didn't release Strahan did they????? Someone would have scooped him up already if that was the case.
I did hear some rumors from Cowboys fans around here that Collins may be picked up by the Cowboys. Well, back to the subject...obviously Coughlin is just what the doctor ordered for the Giants then. He is a very good coach, and he will win there. Don't think the Giants will be a pushover, they will not be! We have the toughest division top to bottom. |
I would imagine that he will have to weed out some players. Not that Fassel was soft but I am sure the veterans dont wont to put up with a new coach that demands that much. Unless his name is Gibbs.
|
not sure even certain vets would put up with Gibbs...of course they don't have to let the door hit them on the ass on the way out either.
|
I have said it and I will keep saying it. The Giants are going to be a horrible team this year. I don't think they have the talent to match anyone in the division (not even Dallas) and Coughlin's imposition of "old school" discipline is going to be such a shock to the players system that a significant group are simply going to crumble and not care. Those that do buy into Coughling will be undercut by those that don't.
This team has had its divisiveness issues in the past and Coughlin's hard line style is just going to exacerbate that tendency and cause either an implosion of players not caring or an explosion of players who are just playing for themselves. |
An the Chargers get their first round pick so they won't be signing any significant impact guys next year.
|
I called thier downfall last year, and this year thier problem is much worse, still no pass blocking and now a rookie QB, it's nice to be a skin's fan living in NJ these day's! :headbange

What a bunch of wussies. If I were a Giant veteran I would suck it up. This team has tons of talent, they just need to execute, (and OL help)

Getting their asses kicked around by Coughlin is (regrettably) just what the doctor ordered for these pansies. For our sakes, I hope they don't fall in line though. |
Sounds like they need LT to come back and smack some of these babies in the head!!!!
I hope the little wussies fall apart too!!! In any case the NFC East will be a battle with Coach Gibbs back!!!! |

Eventually, yes. But this year the Giants are going to be about as effective as a chipmunk with a meat cleaver: they get your attention, but they're not very good butchers. |
this sucks, the Giants are going to end up with a top pick in next years draft and then they will get another impact player. The Giants had one of the best teams on paper last year but everyone got injured....oh wait, what am i saying, they dont have their pick next year and they wasted their pick this year on a cry baby!!!
|
They are looking at a long road, I dont know what their cap space looks like for next year, but they just don;t look good on either side of the ball. If they get 5 wins it will surprise me.

I'm beginning to side with the Manning's on the San Diego issue. The question isn't the team or it's commitment to winning, it's the fact that if there isn't a turnaround there (and there likely won't be), Schottenheimer will be canned. Then you have a new coach with a new philosophy, which means you wasted a year of development, and likely got the crap kicked out of you in the process. There are no assurances that the new coach will want to use your talents (which I know he would have received before being drafted). In New York, Coughlin will have at least two years to make it work. That may be enough to learn and become the player you think you are capable of. I still think he's a punk, but there is another side to it. |
This was the only time in his career he'd have any leverage. I can't blame Manning for wanting to go wherever he likes.
|
This reminds me alot of when Marty first came in here. Coughlin is going to rub alot of people the wrong way initially, but if they are smart enough to give him a chance and buy in, they will be much better off in the long run. Of course the opposite could always happen, the team could quickly become divided and everything could go down the crapper.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a shocking June 1 cut or two come from the Giants. Coughlin won't hesitate to send guys packing that aren't on board with him 110%. |

Jim Fassell ran the Diants like a country club the last couple of years. The team was pretty soft. Now they bring in "Ghengis Khan". Can anyone be surprised that some of the players aren't happy?
The worst news for Giants' fans should be that Strahan has said he will work out in his own way and in his own facility and show up for mandatory training events only. When you piss off your single best player that quickly, that is not a good omen for a new coach. To a much lesser degree - thankfully - you will have the same thing happening here in DC. The OBC did not run a particularly tough camp or a tough game preparation regimen; Gibbs will. The OBC allowed for a relaxed "grab-ass" atmosphere; Gibbs will not. There will be "problems" here. Players will have to adjust to new routines and to new boundaries on what is permissable behavior while "on-duty". I actually feel sorry for any player who is in meetings with the coaching staff and has his cell phone go off and is dumb enough to take the call. The degree to which those can be handled in an adult manner will keep the local situation from spinning off into the "Coughlin Zone". Smart teams will have some cap room ready to look for June 1 cuts by the Giants because there will be some very servicable players available then. |
One thing about Gibbs is though he is strict and demanding, he is not a sreaming drill-seargant type. He has his ways of enforcing discipline, but he also is the master of the soft touch when needed. And he knows how to handle tempremental talent. He showed that in the NFL with Riggo and Manley, and he showed that in NASCAR. Plus, he's got Williams, Buges, etc., to play bad cop to his good cop. Player managment has always been one of Gibbs' strengths. He's goning to need it now, post-OBC and in the days of super-salaried, spoiled young millionaires.
It's hilarious to see the gints bitch and moan. When you finish 4-12, even the most faithful home-town giant meatheaded fan can recognize that you are in no position to bitch. The team is getting slammed in all the local papers. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys... |
Giants Forfeit 2 Days of Practice

|
That'll teach Coughlin! How dare he ask professional football players to practice hard! What a monster!
(the gints find new ways to suck each year...) |
Manning's head is going to be spinning trying to make decisions under pressure with no oline blocking for him. We might actually be able to get some pressure against the Giants!!!
|
Great start for the g-men, LOL
|
Its looking more and more like the Chargers will have two top five picks next year.
