Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
My friends and I got into a pretty heated discussion about this recently saying theres no way Santana outgains T.O. in yardage next year. On top of that they said that hes probably gonna have a harder time catching up to Plaxicos numbers. There arguments included the usual stuff like no one can stop T.O. and T.O. is T.O, and everyones personal favorite 'How do you stop T.O?' to which I answered "hire Gregg Williams."
While listening to this pointless banter I arrived at the possibility that my time machine had finally worked, taking me back to a year earlier. However to my dismay it just turns out that my friends are idiots. Anyway I wanted to create a poll but apparently I'm not authorized to do so, so if a mod wants to jack my thread for the sake of making one by all means please do so. So what do you think? Who will lead the NFC East in recieving yardage when 2006 rolls around? Will it be T.O, Santana, Plaxico, or the Philidelphia Recieving Corps? Feel free to pick either one just PLEASE don't give me the same pointless arguments that T.O. is T.O. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Santana Moss.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Well I dont know If Santana can repeat what he did last year. Now before you guys deliver me a heat round hear me out. It is a good thing that he will not have to. I am going to step out on a limb here and say that our receiving corps. will outgain everone elses in the NFC east by at least 600 yards. TE's or whatever the hell Chris Cooley is going to be listed as next year counts.
Lloyd Randel El TGCGT Cooley Moss Brunell Portis Who in the hell is going to stop this? |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
TO will lead in yardage, but only because the Redskins will now spread the ball around a bit more. Moss will still be just as valuable to the Skins as he was last year, it's just that instead of getting the ball quite so much, he'll help open up the defense for Lloyd and Randle-El.
TO will have like 1300 yards and Moss will have like 1200. But the Skins WR corps as a whole will top the entire NFC East, and that's really the question we should care about most. It's a team game after all. Dallas can have their TO and his gaudy numbers. We'll take the wins. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
The offense will look to spread the ball around this coming year. If you look at what Saunders did in KC they had a pretty balanced offense and when they threw the ball it was pretty spread out. Gonzales is the main recieving threat on that team and we have 1 guyf or sure that is a bigger threat than him (Moss) and then you throw Cooley, Randle El, Lloyd in there and they are going to be really really good and ougain the rest of the NFC East in combined yards, TD's, catches, you name it they will lead it.....

Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
I'm gonna go with Plax. He put up solid numbers last year. I think defense's are gonna be more focused on Tiki, which will open it up more for him. Plus, him and Eli seemed to have a good on field relationship.

Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Moss will have about 150 yds each game against Dallas. Owens wil have about 50 per game against us. Nuff said

He still has 14 other games against 12 other opponents. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
i dont care about numbers at all, except the one that counts(wins)next season the skins have alot of players to spread the ball around.but then again, brunell seems to have a good thing going in moss
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Heres T.O.'s stats against the skins since 02:
9/22/02 - 33 yards 11/21/04 - 24 yards 1 td 12/12/04 - 46 yards Yea hes a good flashy receiver but we all know about him now, and every coach will prepare for T.O. now. I do not think that Plax will be at the top of the NFC east receivers list either tho. I'll go with Santana. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
You guys are missing the point that he is going to play other teams that as a whole cannot defend against him.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
TO for a few weeks then he will call the tuna a fat bitch and get benched. He will play again and tell bledsoe he is gay with jason witten and will be benched for telling the truth. Then he will come back and get killed by the bruise brothers. I actually mean killed. @ fed ex. Dead. no comming back.

But in the midst of all that he will still have managed 110+ yards in every game he has played |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
I cannot stand TO just like the next, but that is not going to subtract from what he is capable of doing on the field.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
i think it could very well be Moss. He was getting open and making silly catches when he was pretty much the only legit WR on the team. Should be wide open this year and no one gets the YAC like Moss

Taylor Jacobs....

Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
TO.
our offense is going to try and spread the ball more, in dallas, TO will be the #1 option every single play. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
as long as the human statue remains upright.who is dallas back up qback?is it hensen?
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Moss' role next year will be to garner as many double teams as possible. I can just see him running up field all day and the middle of the field being completely devoid of a safety. My prediction is that Moss will have a good season (1100-1200 yards) but not as nearly productive as last year.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
TO will, but that doesnt mean we wont be the most successful team in the NFC East.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Terry Glenn. Only if TO is still playing. And DALs OL is light years better than last year. And the 'Skins three headed monster produces three 1000 yard WRs.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
What about all the games TO misses due to being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team?
My prediction is that it won't take long for Parcells to have him behind the woodshed.:spank: |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Moss --the good one #89
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
On paper, you have to give it to Owens who has been a consistant top performer. But who knows how it works out on a new team. Randy Moss was consistant big yardage producer with the Vikings. He had a notable fall off with Norv Turner's Raiders.
Big yards don't have to = MVP. Santana's yardage will go down this season, and you want it to. That means the Skins are distributing the ball to more receivers who are getting open and catching the pass. That makes the team more productive. That was the whole point of landing Lloyd and R-El. I say Santana will have the highest yards per catch and TDs per reception of the wide receivers in the NFC East. TO and Moss could come close to matching the entire yardage of the whole Eagles receiving corps. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Guys I really don't know I just don't see Moss repeat last year numbers first because the ball will spread around more with Lloyd and Randall i nthe mix and second because od Sauders he uses a lot of screen and pases to the RB.
Also I think as a group you might lead all NFC east because of the new system wich is more agressive compared to dallas conservative aproach but I see last year Brunell vs Bledsoe numbers and well Bledsoe had great numbers (taking away all the sacks). I still believe your hole squad might have the better stats at the end an I will put TO if he estay healthy in mind and body just because he has been consistent trought out his carrer. |

TO is a wideout just like evey other wideout. If you ever played football and more over were a DB then you'll understand that all you need to do is cover him. Bledsoe is probably the worst QB he's ever been teamed up with. There has never been a one man show. There is 11 men on the field, who cares about TO. Period. Our opponents should worry about our stellar offensive line, and Cooley, Sellars, Moss, Loyd, EL and last but not the least Mr. Sheriff gonna getcha Portis let TO be TO, he will probably do a Bo Jackson and then we will never have to talk about him again. Super Bowl '07 Hail |

injuries played a big part in that. there were a lot of games where he literally played 3 downs, but still managed to score. A weak armed QB in collins also hurt. Still when 1005 yards and 8 TDs is a down year, you're not doing all that bad. |

Unless he's you're #1 fantasy WR.........overhyped jerk. |

Super Bowl '07 Hail
I'm not really sure what the heck the point of this post is, but I know one thing, TO is not a wideout just like every other wideout, and saying "all you need to do is cover him" is oversimplifying just a tad, don't you think? He's one of the hardest receivers to cover in the NFL. And he's easily the hardest to tackle once he has the ball. He's definitely not like every other wideout. I think the purpose of your post was just to say that the Redskins are a superior team as a whole, and that's what matters most. That much I'd agree with. |

TO is great, but he doesn't solve all of Dallas's problems. He's the best WR in the NFC East, and probably in the entire league. But he's the worst teammate in the league too. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
See this is better. I don't mind people predicting T.O. as being the NFC East's best Wideout next year when someone presents a valid argument. It so much better than hearing 'B/c I said so.'
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Santana Moss again.
Does anyone actually think that Owens will even play 16 games? He'll get suspended, hurt or go on a crybaby protest against Parcells in his driveway sometime this year. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Honestly, I think he'll be on his best behavior, but his stats won't be anywhere close to where they were his first year in Philly. Philly had a much more complete team. Dallas has a 9-7 team that didn't make the playoffs.

Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Guys,
This is all pie in the sky until we at least get past the draft and near training camp. But TO is going to be a force at WR. IF the Oline has improved. And once again, it couldn't possibly get worse. By the way, when you guys play TB watch for Daniels to have a monster game. The LT that played ole with him vs Dallas is now a Buc.... |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
I thought they only signed him as a backup?
Of course I'm only going on opinion... that's what the offseason is all about. BUT mark my words, TO will be a non-factor this year. He'll slightly improve the offense, nothing more, nothing less. |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
I saw your mock and there is no way dallas drafts a CB in the first round. We need to resign Newman after 2006 and he will get paid,
we are paying Henry a bundle at one corner, we are paying Williams a bundle at ss. We are paying Glenn a bundle at nickle CB. No Way we add to that!! |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
I will hold you to that Malcolm.
Just as I think TO will eventually blow up in the Dallas dressing room because he has always done that, you have to admit that he has been a factor ON the field everywhere he has gone also.... |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
Right, but Philly was a perennial Super Bowl contender, while Dallas has not been. I'm enough of a man to admit when I'm wrong, but I see him only getting half the yards (which will still be great) that he got with Philly that first year.
|
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
San Fran wasn't an anything contender when he put up numbers for them...
The best thing Dallas has going for it is that you guys only have one pick on the first day. If we can get some players that can step right in we can compete. If not........ |
Re: Who will be the NFC East best Reciever in 2006?
5rings,philly throws the ball more then anyone else in this league.dallas will be committed to trying to run the football.in philly(and san fran)T.O. complained about not getting the ball enough.owens is a force ON the field, maybe the best in the game but i see trouble in paradise
