F... idiot drivers

So I'm sitting in traffic yesterday at a light, outta nowhere some jerkoff pulls up to my left, obviously looking to butt his way in. I said to myself ok, if he puts on his signal I'll let him in, otherwise screw him. I say if you can't give me the courtesy of a signal, FU, what am I a mind reader?

So traffic starts moving, still no signal, and he's trying to come into my lane. I start hugging the bumper of the car in front of me, and he ends up moving in behind me. He then swings around to the right lane, pulls up along side me, and trys the old stare down routine (keep in mind he's got a kid in the car, making him even more of a jerkoff for acting like this). Anyway, I'm not buying his stare down game, I keep looking straight ahead to not give the guy the satisfaction, meanwhile my blood is freakin boiling, finally I look at the guy unable to resist any longer and flip him off.

We've all heard of beer muscles, but what about car muscles. Why do people get all tough in their cars? You know damn well if you were standing face to face with guys like this they wouldn't say shit.

F idiot drivers.

Re: F... idiot drivers

Oh man, you just hit one of my biggest pet peeves right on the head. I HATE people who try to change lanes without using a signal. I'm the same way as you, if they use a signal I politely let them in. If they don't use the signal, it's game on. I pretty much try to make their life as miserable as possible, trying to block every move they make. Once someone tries to do that to me, getting where I'm going becomes secondary to making their life miserable.

F idiot drivers is right.

Re: F... idiot drivers

I'm entertained by your story because I feel like I'm the ONLY person to act that way. Like when I'm in traffic I'll ALWAYS let one person in if they have their signal light on, but if they want to butt in, they can f*ck off. It takes less than a second to do and makes such a HUGE difference in courtesy.

Another FU goes to ALL the big ass trucks that drive FASTER when it rains. Honestly, I think that these dumbasses think that their stupid trucks get BETTER traction when it rains. I saw a guy taking his son to school pass me in a 55 going at least 80 in the RAIN.

HAHA! I'm so glad that we have fellow road ragers on here. I get so freakin' pissed when I drive I have to calm down often when I get to where I'm going. Question for all you guys who live in VA and this is nothing against NJ people, but is Virginia becoming South New Jersey? I was counting the other day on the interstate and 6 out of 10 cars were from New Jersey. And 6 out of 6 of those cars drove like total jackasses. Great, you're from "the city", but you're in Virginia now, stop driving like a jerkoff.

Re: F... idiot drivers

What I hate most and this happens to me alot is when someone gets in front of you and then start braking. WTF?

Or how about when you're cruising down a 2 lane street, and theres that one dude sitting on a side street trying turn on to your street and without hesitation jumps right in front of you and you have practically slam your brakes! What makes it worse is that no one was behind me!!!! Why couldn't you wait until I passed you f-ing douchebag!!!!!!!!!

God I have road rage.

You mean someone GETS in front of you or CUTS in front of you?!

Re: F... idiot drivers

And I agree about your second point. Like they sit there and look at you and COULD have gone without irritating you BUT they sit there and sit there and sit there and THEN go and THEN go in the lane that YOU'RE in. At least go in the other lane.

Warpath 04-14-2006 11:19 AM

Re: F... idiot drivers

My favorite is when 2 lanes merge to one lane, and the jackass spends up to pass you, only to make a turn at the very next intersection. I mean just file in line and then you dont have to speed up to pass then slam on the break to make the turn. F....you.

Re: F... idiot drivers

People not using turn signals is a huge pet peeve of mine. But so are people who put the turn signal on then don't do anything. Like when you're driving and you see the person in the other lane put the turn signal on so you slow down a bit to let them in. And they just keep driving and you keep waiting. Finally you say to yourself "well they're not changing lanes I guess" so you speed up and then that's when they decide to get in your lane

Anyway, here's a story for you guys. I'm on a two-lane road one day that's about to merge into a one lane road. This car starts tailgating behind me then at the last second gets in the second lane and cuts me right off. No signal, nothing. And it was so last second I had to slam my brakes on. So do the cars behind me. Everyone is honking their horn at me. And of course this clown just drives off. Anyhow I see him a little further down about to make a left turn onto a side street. And he's driving a black Mercedes convertible so I'm like I'm going to pull beside him on the shoulder and let him know what's up. So I pull up beside him look over at him and honk my horn. He turns his head my way....and it's freakin' Riddick Bowe! So I just smiled, gave him a thumbs up. He gave me one back and I went about my day. I was angry, but I still had my bones and brain cells intact and I wanted to keep it that way.

Now we do get alot of NJ drivers on 64 going to the Outer Banks this time of year. What irks me is when a lane is ending and the driver drives as far down as they can go and tries to squeeze into traffic when they could have merged over earlier but did not want to wait in line. Whats fun to do when you are on a two lane road and that person comes right up on your tail trying to get by. I will slow down a little and they will chang lanes and get behind the other car thinking they are going to pass me. Then I will speed up a little like I'm going to pass that car and then they jump back in behind me. Some people will just go back and forth as long as I do this not even realizing that your laughing at them every time they change lanes.

Again, HILARIOUS. I do the exact same thing. My fiancee and I call it "the game". We'll slow down to give them some hope and then get on the person in front of us's butt.

But this is more in the SW VA area (up and down 81). I remember looking at the enrollment of the college I went to and the university I work at, both have New Jersey as their top enrollment underneath Virginia. People must REALLY want to get out of there.

What blows em away is drivers who are so damn oblivious to the other cars on the road. People being jerks pisses me off but people causing problems because they are not even paying attention to what is going on around them makes me want to stab my eye with a pencil.

They have driven all the prices up there form food, golf, property and all consumer goods. They think its a deal because of what they are use to paying in NJ but what was once a nice little home town feeling beach area has just grown like crazy. I also get alot of people from NJ moving to the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake area. They move from 2000 sq foot homes and come her and buy 4000 sq foot homes for less and pay cash for them. Most are retired couples who just want to get away from NJ's high cost of living. Now when I say retired couples I mean in their mid 50's is quite common. Their great customers as I'm in the Insurance business and after they find out how much cheaper ins. is in Va they love ya. This is propably true with the school system and explains why they go to college here. With a military area we get drivers from all around the country and it can get quite crazy at times. I'm lucky that my rout to work does not involve getting tied up in traffic everyday. I do drive about 15 to 20 each way but I can take back roads with very little trafic and a few lights but I'm sure that will end some day.

Re: F... idiot drivers

I've noticed that around here too. It pisses me off that what's supposed to be the good ol' south (I'm not saying rednecks) is turning into NEW Jersey. Like when I meet someone new in town and they seem like assholes I'm like, "Are you from NJ?" and at least 9 out of 10 times they are. For some reason, all the NYers that move down here are nothing but nice. What is it about that state?

firstdown 04-14-2006 04:13 PM

Re: F... idiot drivers

I only see that in Nags Head area and not around here. Maybe the people moving here from NJ are a little more relaxed and thats why the move this far down. Who knows but they are bring alot of cash with them and not taking up jobs. Our area just got hit with the news yesterday that the Ford Plant is closing and it employes about 2,400 people. Then you have all the other small businesses that support their opperations which it will hurt.

Re: F... idiot drivers

I'm always amused when I hear people outside of the D.C. area bitch about road jerks. It's so pervasive here we just learn to deal with it, but every once in a while when I'm in a particularly bad mood and some dumbass pulls a move, I can go nearly apoplectic.

However, let me tell you a good story. My wife picked me up from the Vienna Metro one afternoon and we were heading west on I-66 in the HOV lane. Now MY pet peeve is single drivers who feel that they alone are privileged enough to crowd up those lanes. Around Centreville, traffic is slowing and this woman cuts us off to get into the HOV lane. We are tooling along at a crawl and we see a state trooper with a car pulled for an HOV violation. The woman in front of us immediately tries to get back into the snail lanes but no one would let her in. My wife starts honking at the trooper and pointing at the woman in front of us. He nods and flags the woman to the side of the road. As we drove past the jerkette, my wife just smiled and waved.

Kind of made my day.

Re: F... idiot drivers

I had some dumb ass almost smash into me today. I was moving into the middle of 3 lanes after having my signal on for about a second or 2 and after I'm half way into the lane this douche on a cell phone, whom I had tried to get away from, (I hate drivers on their phones) who had been in the far left lane starts slamming on his horn. he then pulls up next to me as we r driving and tries talking trash so I just turn up my music, start swaying my head, and smiling as to not even acknowledge his existence and piss me off even more. as we r going down the road I watch as he rides up the bumpers of the cars in front of him and zipping from lane to lane without any signals. I absolutely hate the way so many people drive in VA and some of the worst r people in big cars that seem to think that just cuz they r in big cars that the have the right to force their way into your lane.
and like a couple others have mentioned I'm the type that will be nice occasionally and let people with their signals on get in ahead of me, but not if they speed up to do so when there is plenty of room behind me. that gets a big F U and a smile while doing so.
and whats up with people not being able to realize it might be a better idea to go a little further up than u had planned and doing a u-turn or something instead of coming close to making multiple crash while cutting across traffic?

Re: F... idiot drivers

I'm convinced that once you've driven in the DC Area, everywhere else (aside from NYC and LA) is a cakewalk. I drive almost 70 miles roundtrip every day, and see the most asinine things on my journey. Women putting their makeup on, people talking on their cell phones (no hands free), drinking coffee and driving, people reading a book, paper, map...in the far left lane. My biggest pet peeve is people driving in the fast lane, doing the speed limit because they are talking on their cell phone...look up to realize they have to get off right now, and cut across 4 lanes of traffic to do so, instead of going up to the next exit to turn around.

And...I'm notorious for trying to trap HOV violators in the HOV lane. There are days where 6-7 out of 10 cars that pass me in the HOV lane are single riders. Who do these people think they are?!?!?!

What makes my blood boil is when trying to merge onto an interstate, that is 4 lanes wide, you have someone hugging the right lane (the lane you are trying to merge into) and will not move over (even though there is plenty of room to do so)...will speed up so that you have to hit your brakes...and then slow down once you are behind them, to have to hit your brakes again.

I do have my faults...I'll ride the merging lane until the end, however I will have my turn signal on, and will merge over earlier if there is ample room to do so without people having to hit their brakes. If done properly, a zipper merge is quite effective.

I also hate smokers who think they're exempt from the littering laws, especially when their flaming garbage hits my car's paintjob.

People who think they're driving a phone booth...

Then there's people who don't turn headlights on when it's almost dark. I usually pull out in front of them because after all, how do they expect people to see them without lights on. :)

I was driving home from my to be college in a snowstorm, and the visibility wasn't quite to the front of my car. Anywho, the driver in front of me is going entirely too fast for the conditions, and I lose control of the car. I swerve, as the car goes perpendicular to the road, and I slide into a ditch and hit a tree.

The driver in front of me was my dad.

It's not all bad. The next day (I couldn't move), the Skins beat the Rams to start the 6 game win streak. That made the whole ordeal better.

Nahhh, most Japanese and American cars come standard with turn signals. I've noticed that German cars don't have them, though. Atleast the ones sold in NoVA, anyway.
