Motorcycles Riders?
Any riders in here? I'm looking at this gourges baby (Kawasaki Ninja 650R) right now and man do I want that sucker. It's Redskins colors in it too. With gas prices what they are it seems like the perfect time to splash on a bike.

Big Wheels fucking own.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Seriously though, I dont know about riding a bike up in seattle. Bikes and rain are a bad bad idea. but on the other hand, that bike is sexy:). You might be able to hook up some play with that thing.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Motorbikes are dangerous. (are you reading this, CPayne?)

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Best thing about crotch rockets is the way girls look on the back. The shame is, when you're driving one you can't see!

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Saden,
Not a big board poster, but I've been a long time lurker and longer time skin's fan. I've been riding for 10 years or so and do about 10k a year on my current bike ('05 DL1000 V-strom). I even tailgated FedEx on my bike twice during the preseason last year. (Makes getting out of the lot a much easier experience) That new 650R is a real nice ride, my buddy trading in his CBR F4i for one. In all seriousness, it's not a "learner" bike though. If you are a noob to motorcycling, do yourself a favor 1) Take your local state sponsored BRC (Beginner Riders Course) 2) Buy a good helmet and "real" gear. It ain't cool or cheap but it's cooler and cheaper than skin grafts or funeral expenses. 3) Buy the cheapest P.O.S. 250-400cc bike you can find and ride it for at least 6 months before you consider a new bike. You will drop it early and often...better that than a new bike with lots of expensive plastic. 4) Buy a new ride and paint it burgundy and gold with the license plate SB XLI! Later, Mc2guy |
Re: Motorcycles Riders?
also, try sitting on a few of the crotch rockets, IMO they are very uncomfortable, that was my main reason for buying a cruiser. The learnig course mentioned above is quite helpful and it only takes up about a weekend. Its also alot easier than the motorcycle driving test at the DMV.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
I don't have a lot of ridding experience but I did take the motorcycle safety course couple of years ago. I have been really hesitant about getting a bike but now that I have paid my car of it's time to spend my hard earned dollars on a new "toy."
jamf, You wouldn't believe how big of a motorcycle time Seattle is. Rain or shine, rdiers are on the road and in the summer all sorts of riders come out of the woodwork. |
Re: Motorcycles Riders?
No offense guys, but I've gotta move it to the parking lot. Sorry.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
When you get a new bike, check out the Hayabusa. One of the fastest vehicles known to man. It's Suzuki I believe and my buddy let me drive his once and honestly I've never been so scared in my life.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
But to set things straight I was the one RIDING, not driving. I'm no catcher.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Just want to inform the world that I'm the proud owner of a red 2006 Suzuki SV650S (they didn't have it in burgundy :(). I've started a "buy saden fairings" donation drive and everyone is encouraged to donate.
p.s. Unlike someone in the news I feel very comfortable wearing a helmet while riding. |
Re: Motorcycles Riders?
Nice choice, saden. Do you like the styling of the S better? I like the stripped down look of the SV650 better than the sport bike-esqe fascia of the S.

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
cpayne,
I went to my local dealer to purchase a new Ninja 650R as I liked its looks but my friend and brother convinced me to go with SV650S instead because it's a "known" bike. I like the looks of the SV650S better though I've never been a fan of naked/semi-naked bikes. Eventually I want to make it look like this: Edit: Changed Bike Color. |

Re: Motorcycles Riders?
I started out on a yamaha 175,moved up to a yamaha 400 special in college, eventually owned 2 harleys, was a victim of a hit and run in college on my 400,car pulled out in front of me and i nailed the rear end of the car doing about 50,shattered my leg and i went flying about 20 yrds in the air, landed on my face, full coverage helmet was ground down in the front,i dont know if it saved my life, but it definitely saved me from plastic surgery,it was the night before dallas plyed the skins in the plyoffs to see who would go to the sb in 82 season, when the ambulance got there the first thing i asked them is"will i be able to see the game tommorrow?" never forget that, watched the sb in the hospital, worst thing about it was i went to school near dallas and i had been putting up with the cowboys fans shit all yr and then i wasnt at school to give them shit after we won.I sold my last harley about 5 yrs ago,I was getting to crazy on it,I love speed ,i was hauling ass too much and most of the time not wearing a helmet going thru houston traffic, decided i needed to sell it before i left my daughter fatherless,so my advice is,wear a helmet, dont haul ass in traffic, and never ride before a big skins game!!
