B. Lloyd Overrated?
Some haters in SF think Lloyd is overrated:
Already, he is a big step ahead of Brandon Lloyd, whom the 49ers traded to Washington. Lloyd's new employers will soon discover that they have a No. 3 receiver who thinks he is a No. 1, who delivers one sensational play every game or so and does very little else.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/06/04/SPGJUJ89AQ1.DTL&feed=rss.sports |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Al saunders has a way of finding the best in receivers. Lloyd will be great.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
That's what the word is when we got him. The team does seem to have a knack for getting the best out of people who were "done" or "busts".
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
how pathetic it is to be an SF fan right now. To spend the off season trying to convince yourself that antonio bryant is the answer.

True enough. If he can get production out of nothings like Kennison, Lloyd will be a star! |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Does anyone take seriously what someone associated with the 49ers says? I hope not. They blow for a reason. They are clueless. I am glad we got their "overrated" WR. He'll probably end up being the next Jerry Rice if they think he stinks so much.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
What kills me with all these experts saying this crap about Lloyd and El is that they are saying they aren't proven #1 receivers. Agreed, we may have overpayed them, but we didn't bring these guys here to be #1 guys. Moss IS our # 1 wr, they are #2 or #3 guys. Randel El I believe will be more of a 3 down, special teamer. Lloyd will more than likely be the #2 guy, but who knows. I am sick of these experts saying we didn't think about who we went after, they aren't #1 material. Well, asswipes, thats perfect because we dont need them to be #1 guys, just pieces baby, just pieces to the super bowl puzzle!!

Yup, let's also remember the "all-star" quarterbacks he had throwing to him. |

Couldn't have said it better myself, especially since I rarely use the term "asswipes." And just remember, Jets fans said Santana couldn't be a #1 receiver, and just look what he did to the Skins' recordbooks. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I think we have sufficiently won this argument. We are smart. They are dumb.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Exactly #56 and Grillz. We wouldn't go after these guys and pay the prices we do if the talent wasn't there. Gibbs and Co. have been pretty damn good talent evaluators if you ask me.

Haha. Case closed, thanks for coming. Try the veal. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Sometimes the things that the media spout off are just so ricockulous that even in the dead of off-season we shouldn't spend more than 15 posts refuting. Again, they are dumb and we are smart. It is that simple.

well, I did just stay at a Holiday Inn Express. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
she bashes lloyd an then somehow tries to sell bryant as not being a head case or inconsistant?
pot kettle black. talk about homerism. |

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Well, you can certainly value that opinion. Considering the recent success of the organization, it points to some SHREWD talent evaluation, and innovative team building technique.
I wonder if the Niners remember when they DIDN'T SUCK? Cleveland thinks SF sucks too..................HOUSTON thinks SF Sucks!!!! |

We're here 'til Thursday. Too bad Bryant will probably be gone by Tuesday. Seriously, bash Lloyd - maybe, we'll see - sell Bryant as the number 1? - Okay, you just lost ALL credibility. |

It's the offseason - please, 15 posts is nothing when we have nothing. And besides, the "they are dumb, and we are smart" is applicable to any argument where people disagree with me. And, if you disagree with that, well, you're just dumb. |

Really Funny...........I'm sure they do

Do you think Alex Smith is happy that he got VD in San Fransico? |

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I think Mike Nolan gave Alex Smith VD...hehe
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Seriously, San Fran is the LAST place you want to get that.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Let's also remember that Mike Nolan is their head coach. We all remember what a stellar career he had here in DC. Maybe Lloyd needed some COACHING. Gibbs could coach him at WR(and he's really a LB coach!) and it would be better than ANY receiver coach in SF.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I don't think we can say that Brandon Lloyd is overrated until the 'experts' start to tell us that they are high on him. Seriously, coming over from SF, are the expectations really that high? If not, how in the heck can he be overrated?
I still think Randle El is better, but I sure as hell don't think Lloyd is overrated. |

Dammit! I wish I would have gotten ahold of that one first. The joke, not VD. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I can't wait to draft VD this year for my fantasy league.I might have to use a third round pick on him just for the jokes.
"I got VD so fast that now I can't score." Needs work, but hey, at least I'm tryin' |

Personally, I'm more comfortable with the Redskins getting a player who they value high, instead of a player who the media values high. |

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Being a Niners fan and having watched Brandon Lloyd throughout his career I would have to say he is going to be a productive but not great WR for your Redskins.
Lloyd is one of the best bad ball catchers in the NFL, (being all the ducks the Niners QBs have thrown) but he often loses his concetration on easy receiptions. Do I feel he will make an impact in Washington? Yes, he will, but it won't be as big as the Redskins Front Office projected for him. I think he will be a solid #3 WR and that Randal-El will be the #2 WR. Regardless of how Lloyd factors out, the fact that the Redskins have 3 mighty midgits at WR, a stud TE in Cooley and one of the 5 best RBs in the league in Portis makes this offense scary. Now we have to hope Brunell (depending on health issues), or who ever is under helm, can consistently move the football and put points on the board. Just my two cents!! Edit: Randal-El will be the #2 WR, I mistakingly put #3 WR. Thanks for the heads up |

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
competition can bring out the best in a player. sf had no talent at wr, so lloyd didnt have to put in the extra effort just to get some pt. here in washington we have alot of talent at wr and lloyd will have to earn his pt. he will learn from vets like moss, patten, thrash , and randle el and will learn what it takes to be a good wr and will be a good wr for many years to come. i have alot of confidence in gibbs and believe he can spot true talent behind some of the things that lloyd has been criticized for in the past such as his "lack of concentration". gibbs is a master motivator

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
i know that bryant has had 1000 yard rec. seasons. has lloyd? does anyone have a breakdown of lloyds nfl career? i would have to say right now, strictly on past production alone, i can see why people would try to make a case for bryant. but just like T.O., there is alot of extra baggage involved

Just my two cents!!
No disrespect but you sound like everyone else. Do you understand we are not asking them to come in a be game breakers. We have 3 all ready. Moss, Portis, and cooley. they are pieces, compliments. The front office knows who the bread and butter is going to be. They (moss,el,lloyd) will compliment each other and take the double, sometimes triple teams off our #1 MOSS!! People need to understand El was brought in to add a demention much like he did in pittsburg. Lloyd will be asked to be the #2(probably). maybe 50 balls. I think he understands that. Cooley is going to be the #2 receiver in terms of catches, plus Portis will have more receptions this year than he has ever had. People need to ease up on the expectations that El and Lloyd are coming here to compete with Moss. They know their rolls, they know Moss is the MAN. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
A pretty stupid article.
Incidently, I think Lloyd IS our #3 WR. Moss and EL are in front of him, IMO. Whatever. If we win, it's a good move. If not, the press gets to sh** on us some more. Yatta, yatta, yatta. |
