Why No Faith???
New poster here.
Why no faith? In the come back of Mr. Gibbs the Redskins have only improved in play, character, discipline, and respect. Why do I read these boards and see such doubt, worry? After a few weeks of reading these threads, I got a few opinions. Nothing personal, just a rookies gut feeling. 1. Ramsey sucked. Let's move on. 2. Brunell is a football player. He gets the job done. 3. Lavar IS a big loss. 4. But I'm curious about McIntosh. 5. Holdham is improvin... 6. Our defense is not in RUIN. 7. Saunders + Gibbs....Pure Genius 9. Williams + Bugel.....Just cute. 10. Portis WILL run for over 2000.... 11. Our line will be one of the best. 12 . I am bias, but not ridiculous 13. Our offense will be simply spectaculous. Jr. Seau wouldn't have been a bad thing. Anyone remeber Monte? It's about leadership and our backers need it. One other thing...Brandon Ore is simply gonna kick some ass for the Hokies this year. |

Re: Why No Faith???
If we were in nearly any other division in football, I'd say we're a lock for a playoff birth. Unfortunately, there will be at least two teams in our division disappointed that they're home for the playoffs, and this division I feel any team could win or come in last in this division. I think the Eagles come in last, and Giants/Cowboys/Redskins all come down to division games. I like our matchup (defensively) against both teams. If we spread the field they will be required to put their reserve DBs in, and that's one position no teams in our division have a whole lot of depth at.
The Cowboys offense will be good, I think that line will play above potential. And Terry Glenn and TO is a really solid duo. Witten is turning into a star. The O line and running game are suspect, they also picked up some real quality on the defensive side. Namely Akin Ayodele. This guy is horribly underrated and one of my favorite linebackers outside of DC (before this year that was!) Giants have really solid talent on every side of the ball. They can get a lead and hold it, and I think Eli will be improved this year even more. It will be a grind to get through the season, and I doubt any one team breaks away. The Redskins come down to if Brunell can get his job done, and injurys throughout the division. |
Re: Why No Faith???
It appears there are alot who don't have faith on here, because they have always been used to seeing the Redskins have medicore or losing seasons. They were not old enough or blessed enough to be through the glory years, so it's sort of the thing where "I'll believe it when I see it" sort of thing. Being one who has ben through the glory years, it's a little easier to see how much of a difference Coach Gibbs has brought to this team. People get too caught up in numbers - stats, age, who's calling the plays....If the Redskins win it all this year, there will still be people here to give absolutely no credit to Joe Gibbs whatsoever. To me, that's a sign of immaturity and just plain out being ignorant. To me, he'll always be a mastermind as a head coach - and it's not just because he can call plays. If that was the case, Steve Spurrier would have been a super bowl winning coach his first season. Obviously, it's just part of what it is to be a great coach.

Re: Why No Faith???
I think there's a ton of faith around here. But looking at all sides of things is what we do as well.

Lavar has never shown the discipline to work within our system, and he couldn't be "the man" here - something he expected to be. In New York, he isn't going to be the centerpiece either, but the expectations won't be there. That being said, I think we will torch him, because no one knows Lavar's tendencies better than us. |
Re: Why No Faith???
We all have faith here but we certainly don't subscribe to the "blind faith" mantra.

Re: Why No Faith???
Did anyone else see the LaVar piece on NFL Total Access the other night?
He really does look in alot better shape, looks like he's lost a good 10-15 lbs. He doesn't have that gut that he had last year. |
Re: Why No Faith???
We should show this thread to the eagles fans over at concretefield.com as proof that not all redskins fans are homeristic.

Re: Why No Faith???
actually the real deal is that we are all dallas fans and we have no lives..so we pose as Skins fans and bash the skins...muahahah
I was just glancing at this and thought you wrote "homoerotic".
Not that I'm defensive.
Well, most people judge the skins based on the hoggettes. Personally, i think the hoggettes need to have some tough cohones to dress like that, but it's all good. But a lot of other NFC East fans think the whole fan base is gay because of that. |
Re: Why No Faith???
I'd say that while Lavar isn't a big loss for us, he is a big gain for New York.
I see it the same way. What worries me (and most QBs) about Lavar is that he may give up big plays, but he may also end your career on any one play. That tends to keep guys from keeping thier heads in the game. With the two DEs the Giants have, Lavar will be a big pass rush threat. That worries me with Brunnel. |
Re: Why No Faith???
Anyone who has doubts about Joe Gibbs at this point need their head examined. My worry was that the game may have past him by after the first season in his comeback but he has two of the best minds in the business in Williams and Saunders and he's letting them do what they do better than most of ther peers. He's doing whatever it takes to return the Skin's to those glory years and he's not letting his ego get in way. He's a GREAT manager of men, he wins at everything he does and he will get us back to that level once again. It's just a matter of time IMO.

I think thats why we got blown out the first game last season, maybe antonio pierce filled them in. Lavar is a huge gain for new york, which doesnt help the fact we didnt need him. I saw on the nfl network when he was interviewed he didnt know how we would recieve him back at the stadium for when we play the giants at home. I say boo him noone wear that jersey, and throw every hateful remark that comes to mind at him and his way. Screw him. |

Other than that, I'm hard pressed to believe that one player knew tendencies from practice, and was able to pass on that knowledge in the practice week.
I think they were just the better team that day. It happens. |

We get new ones, though. Al Saunders wasn't calling plays last year. |
Re: Why No Faith???
We got blown out because their owner died and they were pumped up. I am sure Antonio shared some info, but nothing to cause a blow out.
|
Re: Why No Faith???
I'll also have to disagree with Lavar being a big loss. We had one of the top defenses in football with him on our bench. We didn't and don't need him.
|
Re: Why No Faith???
Maybe Antonio filled them in. I read an article after the game where they asked him if he thought that the game would be this easy and he said something like it's real easy when you know what theyare going to do. He knew the plays and the schemes and I'm sure he told them EVERYTHING he knew. I'm sure Lavar will tell some things as well, but who gives a shit. If we line up with the drive to win there shouldn't be any problems. I personally see Washington giving New York WORK in the first game. Losing Lavar can be considered a loss but we've been groomed for that loss for about 2 years so there shouldn't be a problem there either. The only thing you really lose is speed. That's it. Clemons is good over there, and IF Holdman gets better he'll be good over there. All you miss out on is Lavars speed, you add in a couple misreads here and there. A couple of brain farts and were all even.

What a joke. Yeah Lavar was no good. We never neededim. It's much easier to assume that point of view after he's gone. Your absolutely crazy if you think he didn't benefit the skins throgh the years. Shoot... he help win many games. How quick we forget. |
Re: Why No Faith???
While I do not disagree that LA (Like a moth to the damn flame-another arrington thread) has signifigant amount of talent, he did not have enough talent for the coaching staff to keep him. It was a conscious decision to let him go, and under the terms, the Skins jumped at it. That makes me think, Joe and Greg don't think he has that much to offer. As for insider info, and the Giants win. We beat their ass in the second game, with AP giving all the valuable insight he to offer. Any given day!
|
Re: Why No Faith???
Arrington couldn't get his knee right for more than a couple weeks at a time over the last two years. I'd say that's a significant sign of a chronic problem and I don't see him making it through this season with the Giants. We're better off.
how could a guy who barely played, and didnt even play well when he did play, a big loss...this loss will only help us
Look at his numbers in and leading up to the post season and he has strong numbers. Like it was said in another post he was not a big loss here but is a big gain for NY. I think Pierce is a bigger threat to us than Lavar because of all his hard work he puts in the film room preparing for a game.

Re: Why No Faith???
New poster here.
Welcome skins4me58203! Why no faith? In the come back of Mr. Gibbs the Redskins have only improved in play, character, discipline, and respect. Why do I read these boards and see such doubt, worry? We have faith! I made a commitment years ago, and spoke to God just this morning! Oh, you mean about the B&G! Everyone here is pretty confident the B&G will be in the hunt for the POs! Maybe win more than one (1), and maybe win the Division first! After a few weeks of reading these threads, I got a few opinions. Nothing personal, just a rookies gut feeling. 1. Ramsey sucked. Let's move on. He didn't suck. He was benched by a HOF Coach, and then moved on because he wanted to feel the "Love"! 2. Brunell is a football player. He gets the job done. MB is an "Old" FB player. I agree, however, he does get the job done. JC will be ok when he steps in if MB goes down. 3. Lavar IS a big loss. LA was out the majority of the past two years, and we still had a great D! He is a bigger loss personality wise, than he is skill wise. 4. But I'm curious about McIntosh. We all are. 5. Holdham is improvin... Holdman??.................. hmmm. I'm not holding my breath! He played LB with a screen door mentality. I like our youthful back-ups better. 6. Our defense is not in RUIN. Good point, we all know! We have GW! 7. Saunders + Gibbs....Pure Genius Not Einstein genius, but close! 9. Williams + Bugel.....Just cute. Both get'r'done! Neither are what real men would call cute! Websters definition of Cute, has pictures of my three granddaughters! 10. Portis WILL run for over 2000.... Hmmm................... More probably around 1500. With some great receptions as well! 11. Our line will be one of the best. "Will be"????? Let's remember we set a couple of records on "O" last year, and now we have Saunders in charge! 12 . I am bias, but not ridiculous Biased, yes. We can agree. None here are rediculous, however. Except maybe trolls from other teams. 13. Our offense will be simply spectaculous. I'd settle for better than last year leaning toward "spectaculous"! (14) Jr. Seau wouldn't have been a bad thing. Anyone remeber Monte? We already have the pieces, along with McIntosh. It's about leadership and our backers need it. GW leads, the LBs follow his lead! One other thing...Brandon Ore is simply gonna kick some ass for the Hokies this year.
Now you went and spoiled your whole entire post with a Chokie reference! Real College FB is played in the SEC! (If you ain't a Gator, you're Gator-bait!) |
Re: Why No Faith???
Everyone who is losing faith this year should have no fear. According to my sports almanac, the Redskins win the Super Bowl this year by a score of 30-13 over the Cincinatti Bengals.

Re: Why No Faith???
Since faith is defined as complete confidence in a person or plan, I have to say that I, indeed, do have faith. Seriously, when we all got the news that Coach Gibbs was coming back, who here didn't think we would win the Super Bowl with him as our leader. Everyone was excited, I couldn't sleep the next few nights, I had an exremely high heart paliptation rate and that, good citizens, is pure faith! It doesn't matter if a couple of unusable tools have been cast aside, this Redskins machine that Coach Gibbs has rebuilt will win multiple Super Bowls.

Re: Why No Faith???
Thanks for the greeting backrow.
But don't get me started on college ball. That might start a rhyme that will will be so devine, it will last for all time. |
Re: Why No Faith???
I think what you see is just diferent opinions on different moves the skins have made. Like take Ramsey some think he should be the starter some not and then go to Lavar same thing in his situation. There is usualy someone that will disagree with certain moves made by the team.If your asking who has faith I believe that most if not all believe we are in the best shape as a team than in many years back. We will always have different opinions on our moves but our faith in the skins is at a all new high.
