Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
I wish I could say I was surprised, but cycling has such a culture of corruption that it doesn't phase me.

I'm disappointed. I don't really like cycling, but I was rooting for this guy to win for the shear fact that the Frenchies hated Lance Armstrong so much. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
i heard this on elliot today
Look. He is a dumbass. A f...ing, grade A, certified POS dumbass. Why would you even try that shit in cycling? There is absolutely no way you wouldn't get caught. That is like doing that in the olympics. |

Or you could be right and all the other idiot agenda touters can piss off. I am going with you being right. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
I think we need to hold off hanging the guy until we get the details.
The French anti-doping committee is really an anti-American committee. Look at how badly they tried to get rid of Lance Armstrong because they couldn't beat him on the race course. They were RIDICULOUS. Lance was tested something like 7 times before his last race and they still couldn't find anything, while they barely tested their own cyclists. They said that found his testosertone levels were high. Landis has a deteriorated hip that is going to be replaced now that the race is over. It could've been an effect of some painkillers and trust me, no drug could give him ANY advantage over the Frenchie cyclists with the condition of his hip. He was in a ton of pain the whole time and still won. This same anti-doping group tried nonstop to accuse Lance Armstrong of things he wasn't guilty of. They probably thought that they'd have a chance to win now with him retired and to their horror, ANOTHER American beat them. Why else would they not ban him BEFORE the race if they had really found something? This is just another attempt to remove the real competition so they'll have a chance to win. The French haven't won their own race since 1985 and have always been sore losers and bad sportsmen. Look how the World Cup soccer tournament ended for them. I don't think he cheated. I really don't. Even if there was something in his system, it doesn't change the fact that it was extremely painful for him to even enter the race. He was going to need a hip replacement anyways and this could be his last chance to fulfill his dream, so I don't think he's knowingly risk it by cheating. He probably won't be able to compete at the level he can now with the new hip. He'll have to be more careful with that joint because they DO wear out. When younger people get joint replacements, they'll likely need it replaced again later in life since the artificial joints (some parts are made of teflon) do have a certain life span (depending on the joing it's 10-20 years) even without pushing them like an athlete would. It's best to put off joint replacements as long as possible so that you can avoid wearing it out. I have a finger joint that needs replaced from breaking it when I played baseball. I ALREADY had arthritis in it, so the injury just made it worse than it was. It's not too painful now so I'm going to put it off another 20 years if I can stand to, so I won't need it done more than once. I don't know why there is such a kneejerk action to trust this organization who has blatantly cheated themselves before by trying to pin untrue things on Americans just so they can ban them. |

With the number of times they tested him? They never legitimately found anything in Lance. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
lance would never be that dumb. Lance is the man. Its not like he had to win... or even compete. He has proven himself as being a cycling god.
The frenchies are just mad that americans are always winning. I don't believe their fake testing. They tried it last year and they are trying it again. if landis did it, there aren't many people that are more dumb. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
rumor has it that the bsb is doping. how else could he have reached 4000 so quickly.
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
Soon, they'll have to rename it "le Toure de America". :)

Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
For whatever reason under my motor sports responsibilities at ESPN falls cycling. So yesterday I was talking with his PR people when I found out. All I could think was "of course" He insists it's a mistake but what else would they say?
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
see and with all this news of the ridiculous frenchmen, here the skins are about to try one out...
(its a joke no need to be offended) |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
That really sucks! I was really happy for the guy.I hope it's not true.
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
Would any of these guys really be happy with themselves if they won after doping?
When it all comes down to it, cycling is an individual sport. So, wouldn't the knowledge that you only beat these other guys because you cheated always be somewhere in the back of your brain? Are they so obsessed with winning at all costs that they don't care if they only won because they cheated? Or maybe they think "well, since everyone else is probably cheating, I'm just leveling the playing field." I've just never understood why someone would cheat in an individual sport. (for some odd reason I can see why people do it in team sports, I can't explain that one) Maybe I'm just naive. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
PS I'm not saying I believe Landis cheated, but I am saying he looks like Kid Rock.

Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
Definition of Doping. When talking of cyclists, it's usually blood doping.
I'll wait for the B sample to be tested before jumping to conclusions (when testing, the WADA takes 2 samples each time). If he did, then he should face the consequences, but an abnormally high level of testosterone could be from anything, not necessarily doping. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
Update:
ESPN.com - CYCLING - Landis sample shows high and synthetic testosterone "Floyd Landis was fired by his team and the Tour de France no longer considered him its champion after his second doping sample tested positive Saturday for higher-than-allowed levels of testosterone." |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
Cycling is officially going down the drain.
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
i kinda thought he was guilty right after the first announcement. he didn't really say "i'm not guilty" right away (no immediate strong denial of any kind), and his lawyers said they excepted him to be found guilty.
then came a plethora of (5-6) different crappy excuses. Maybe he is the victim, but with the history, his medical condition, and they way he's acted since being accused, it's a bit hard to believe he's completely innocent. |

watch the video. the guy (John Eustice) explains how the ratios could be what they are and the testing and what Landis can do next. I'm finding it hard to believe he's innocent, but we shall see. |

At least he's maintaining his innocence. If you're caught in a lie like that, just keep on saying it until it's true.

Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
if someone could post landis pic next to Dale Earnhart jr., I think they look alot alike...
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
i agree on the junior thing. as far as landis, i think he is guilty. and maybe someone around here better check tmc, no way all those posts without alittle help from something artificial
|
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
ESPN had on a guy, probably a doctor of something or other, who was saying that it really wouldn't have made any sense for Landis to take one or two shots of testosterone in the middle of the race because it wouldn't really do much for him. Since he had passed tests earlier in the race this could mean that there was something out of the ordinary (besides cheating) going on with these tests.
One way or the other, I would think that if he were really innocent he would have come out from the get-go and gone insane trying to plead his case. |
Re: Landis Test Positive for Doping
I just want to see a NON-French test done.
We can't believe anything as long as the Frenchies are handling it. |
