724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

Vote or 724skinsfan will come to your house and repeatedly poke you with a stick while 12thMan and TMC sing Buster Poindexter's classic "Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot"

and i think 12th can tell you, TMC will find out where you live somehow. (I think he works for the Agency)

AND if you STILL haven't voted by then, I'll get Lance Bass to come to your house and poke you repeatedly with a...well, you know.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

30 TDS 10 INTS sounds about right. Maybe a little lower on both numbers, but I think that the ratio is right on.

I'm going to say about 12 TDs and 3 INTs before he gets hurt and Campbell takes over.

how about with his "lance"

ok, ok, let's get back on topic here I'll say 25 TDs, 7 Ints, 5 fumbles. So about 2:1.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

This is a misleading poll, because are you talking about fumbles lost, or just fumbles in general. If it is fumbles lost, a majority of the QBs come are 1:1 or 1.5:1(Brunell last year), or maybe 2:1(see Peyton Manning last year), but not way more than that. If you are talking about fumbles in general, then I would say brunell maybe at 1:2, or 1:1.5. Either way, it will most likely be 1:1 if he does ok and 2:1 if he is great. 3:1 is riduclous and that will not happen.

Fumbles lost. Sorry for the misleading. I don't generally consider a fumble a turnover unless the fumble was lost

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

Correction: 724 uses a log when he's doing his "aggressive poking". And I've got the CD single of HOT, HOT HOT which includes a 12 minute version.

Since Saunders system is based on timing rather than QB vision, I think we may see more INT's from Brunell initially but, assuming health is not a factor, he should adapt as the season progresses. I went 3:1. Of course the punishment for me not voting really is just my pleasure.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

I've got to go with 2:1 mainly because of the fumbles. I think Brunell will continue to make smart throws but when he does get hit he coughs it up.

No problemo. But you guys seriously think it will be 3:1? I mean look at other QBs, like Trent Green, in the same system last couple years. He was basically 1:1 or 1.5:1, never 3:1. In fact I am positive a starting QB last year that was not 3:1 or better, but I'll check it. 1:1 is not a bad ratio.

hooskins 07-31-2006 11:15 AM

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

Green was 2:1 exactly in his 2002 season, which was one of his best. I should change my vote to "Other" because I really think it will around 1.25:1 or something like that. Closer to 1:1, but a bit better.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

1) A fumble is not a turnover unless the other team recovers it. If you recover your own fumble, it is by definition, not a turnover.

2) Expecting Brunell to go 3:1 is entirely unrealistic. No QBs ever do that.

3) I'll say he performs on pace for 25 TDs, 12 INTs, and 5 fumbles lost. That'd be about 1.5:1. I'll round up to 2:1 because I'm probably being a little conservative.

Oops! Didn't see the fumbles part! Reading is fun! Change mine to a pastrami on rye with slaw on the side or not at all, I'm not going to eat it anyway. What's that? Oh, uh a cherry Coke.

Yeah what i have been trying to say, 3:1 isn't possible.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

Factoring in fumbles is a little tricky.

Regarding TD/INT, I say 2:1 is a pretty safe estimate.

I say he'll probably be good for 5-6 lost fumbles.
Yeah what i have been trying to say, 3:1 isn't possible.
I think it's possible because he's going to have a few good games before he gets hurt.

Well in that case, I am sure their are many QB's that have gone 7:1, but have played like 4 games and not been full time starters. I guess that is a whole different issue, but I gave my answer assuming that he starts a majority of the games.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

I say give it 6 games as a measuring stick.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

I say 3:1. He'll have more than one receiver to throw to this year, so with 6 possible places to throw the ball (3 WRs, TE, RB, FB)...he shouldn't have to hold onto the ball and scramble as much as last year. His fumbles should go down thanks to free agency and Al Saunders.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

I'm going with 2:1. Reason being, only one quarterback in the history of the game has had over 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and that was Donovan McNabb in 2004. That's excluding fumbles of course, which i think Brunell will have his share of.

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

it seems like brunell had a crapload of fumbles last season. does anyone have the actual number? this offense is more of a 3 and 5 step and throw offense so there is a chance the number of fumbles goes down

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

1.5:1, but that's not an option, so i went 2:1, which is too high.

That Guy 07-31-2006 07:13 PM

Re: 724Skinsfan presents Brunell's TD/Turnover Ratio

last year he had 23 TDs, 10ints and 11 fumbles (6 lost).

23:16 = 1.4375:1

It will be low and short lived before Gibbs puts Jason Campbell in.

Brunell lasts 6 games max in my opinion.

"Campbell to Loyyd for a Redskins Touchdown!"

peace
