Farve Retiring?
Favre to hold news conference at 11:30 a.m.
"Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will hold a news conference at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Lambeau Field media auditorium. There's no indication at this point what the legendary Packer quarterback is going to announce. The Packers lost their first preseason game of the year by two touchdowns to the San Diego Chargers." Why else would he call a press conference? |
Re: Farve Retiring?
To announce the proper spelling of his name?

HA. Excellent post. |
Re: Farve Retiring?
He looked really bad in the clips that I saw. It's actually upsetting to watch.
|
Re: Farve Retiring?
He never convinced me he was 100% percent committed to the Packers or this season and if that is the case he has no business suiting up.
|
Re: Farve Retiring?
Betcha a million dollars he's retiring.

That was freaking brilliant |

But, but, but...that's like, the most talented team he's ever been on! |
Re: Farve Retiring?
If he retires, do we knock Donald Driver down on our fantasy cheat sheets, or can Aaron Rodgers hit Driver just as well as Favre?
|
Re: Farve Retiring?
He would really be leaving the Pack in a bind if he retired. I hope he's not going to do that. I would lose some respect for him if he did.

That's true, it's kinda BS to retire now. Best to do it right after the season like Bettis did. |

Yeah, after he wins a superbowl in his hometown. Wait, Gulfport, MS doesn't have an NFL franchise? That's just ludicrous! |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Anyways, he'd be a HUGE jerk to do this to the team NOW. Everyone in the world was asking him since January if he was retiring or not and he wouldn't (or couldn't) give an answer. But to do this to his team 3 weeks before the start of the season would be low for a team and fans that worshipped him for a long time, even when he was playing badly. Aaron Rodgers is not ready, if he can even play QB at the pro level. Either way, whether he stays or goes, the Packers will be challenging the Lions for the basement of the division this year and will probably "win" it. |
Re: Farve Retiring?
Whoa!
Many former NFLers sign a 1 day contract with their former teams during this time of year just to simply retire from their former team! Art, and B. Mitch did it! What is to say a former great like B. Farve can't try the PS to see if he still has it before the big announcement? |

Well, seeing Favre play last year, I could hit Driver as well as the old guy. |

This just in!
Dateline 8-16-06 Green Bay Wisc: B. Farve to announce the answer to Q#! |
Re: Farve Retiring?
Apparently, this is a prescheduled press conference. He does one about every two weeks. He is not retiring. Heard this on ESPN radio.
I was kind of hoping he was retiring just to spite Peter King's big lard ass. |

I'm pretty sure Backrow is hitting the sauce already

Don't lose respect for him. He was an amazing player with alot of heart! I think he is doing GB a favor by retiring. their coach couldnt bench him for Rodgers. You can't cut him. I would like to think that Rodgers has outplayed favre so he is stepping aside. Favre has been an amazing teammate for over a decade, I think he deserves a little credit. |

i hope he retires so he dosen't wreck his reputation

Re: Farve Retiring?
PFT says its a false alarm...
FALSE ALARM ON FAVRE After further review, it now appears that Brett Favre's Wednesday press conference is simply a standard, weekly media get-together. The root of the problem was that KSTP-TV in Minneapolis sold the thing as an unusual, out-of-the-norm event with this post from a couple of hours ago: "Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will hold a news conference at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Lambeau Field media auditorium. "There's no indication at this point what the legendary Packer quarterback is going to announce. The Packers lost their first preseason game of the year by two touchdowns to the San Diego Chargers." As it turns out, he's not expected to "announce" anything. Sheesh. You'd think that a TV station in a rival's market not far from Wisconsin would know this. |

Re: Farve Retiring?
I think he's coming to the realization that his best days and games are way behind him. It's time to hang up the spikes... Seriously, what did they do in the off-season to help him out offensively anyway?
|
Re: Farve Retiring?
Brett Favre makes fans long for the days when guys knew their best was behind them & rather go along struggling, just hang it up & leave on a good note. I know he wasn't able to leave on a good year, but you have to wonder if in the middle of this season if GB sucks, will he feel like playing it out? I've got a feeling he'll retire mid season.

Re: Farve Retiring?
i still look at favre as a first ballot hall of famer, that even this season was on a team with real nfl talent could be a force in this league. all the screwing around about retirement means little to me because if the packers management decided to cut him right now, everyone and their moms would be crying foul. it is now and will always be a business first

Just Viking fans making trouble for their rival...

Re: Farve Retiring?
He's going to start in front of Michael Vick for his final year as he retires with the Falcons.
