Celebrities you've met?

What celebrities have you met?

Share some pics if you've got them too.

The Rock.
Marcus Washington.
Ryan Clark.
Robert Royal.
Patrick Ewing.
Howie Long (Actually hung out with him at my cousin's house. His son and my cousin are good friends. He lives in Charlottesville.)

Re: Celebrities you've met?

I've met 4 of the guys from the Dave Matthews Band. Boyd Tinsley (shook hands with him, really nice guy), Stefan Lessard, Butch Taylor and Leroi Moore.

When I worked at the Saratoga Race Track I used to run into celebs all the time. George Steinbrenner, Jim Boeheim, and soap stars that I had no idea who they were unless someone told me.

Re: Celebrities you've met?

Haha. Awesome. See, I wish I could have worked in a high profile place just to catch people all the time. I met the Skins above at the Dallas game last year, met Mick Foley and The Rock after Backlash when I was in college (I only go to events where I know I'm going to have some kind of backstage access, except for football). Met Patrick Ewing at Disney World, kind of a dickhead. Howie Long is awesome, but freakin' scary.

Besides meeting myself, the list is pretty interesting.

I actually hung out with Mike Tyson and some friends of his many moons ago. Back in the 80s when he was king of the hill.

I knew Lenny Bias really well.
I met Prince back in this Spring. A close friend of mine is on tour with him as we speak. (Ta'Mar)

Let's see....oh, I met Brenda Frese (Lady Terps) in Starbucks.
Derrick Luke (Biker Boyz and Antoine Fisher)
I also met the real Antoine Fisher
PDiddy's umbrella guy - Farnsworth Bently
De La Soul,(same night I was with Tyson)
Teresa Randal (played Martin's wife in Bad Boys I and II)

Colin Powell
Ari Fleischer (former Press Sec.)
Ted Kennedy
Mayor Anthony Williams
Mike Wilbon (very down to earth, same guy as you see on PTI)

A few Redskins here and there.

Obscure alert: Charles Moose. Met him in Hawaii at the hotel(for a luau) he ended up suing and settling for $200,000. He is a big dick and incompetent as has been shown since he probably costs the lives of several people with his shoddy work. Still ranks high on my list.

Also:
Norv. His kid played in the little league I coached.
Joey T. His kid played in same little league at the same time as me.
Riggins. See Joey T.

Tyson is easily the weirdest guy I've ever met. We went to a club in NY and he was just as wild then as he is now. Pretty bizzare guy. Lot's of celebs were there that night but for some reason De La Soul sticks out in mind.

Re: Celebrities you've met?

Cool thread. The Schneed has touched the lives of:

Diane Sawyer, Scott Rolen, Miss America 2001 (Angela Perez), Mike Schmidt, Pat McGee (of the Pat McGee Band), all three members of the band Guster, M. Night Shyamalan, and Bruce Willis.

I met Diane Sawyer at a taping of Good Morning America in 2001, I'm not even kidding, she is a GMILF (grandmom). Bruce Willis was the coolest meet. During the shooting of Unbreakable (here in Philly) my wife's cousin worked on the set as part of the stage crew, and he's a giant giant dude. Bruce Willis saw him at the refreshments table and challenged him to a donut eating contest. My wife's cousin destroyed him.

The robot's name is Kevin, just so you know.

I've also met various Redskins here and there. While at Art Monk's camp years ago he stopped in our room to ask us to be friends with some kid from our hometown who's roommate kept beating him up. That was interesting.

Re: Celebrities you've met?

Oh and how can I forget Katie Holmes. During 2000 they shot an episode of Dawson's Creek at my school, University of Richmond. I had forgotten about it, so I wake up early one day before class, and I'm walking down the path to the commons to get a bite to eat, and walking right past me goes Katie Holmes, she looked like she belonged right with all the other girls at Richmond, just blended right in. No entourage, no bodyguards, just her all by herself. I looked up and caught her eye and she said hi. I just kind of said hi back, not really realizing it was her until after I did a double take. When I did that she kind of chuckled.

She is really really tall. I had no idea. She's like 5'10". And cute as can be in person.

Re: Celebrities you've met?

I originally posted this in the College Stories thread, so it may be a repeat read for a lot of you. But Shawn Barber went to Richmond while I was there, he was a senior when I was a freshman. GREAT guy, hung out with him on a couple occasions doing some drinking. Anyway here it is:

I never saw the college story thread. I gotta get in on this. Here's one of my favorites.

I went to the University of Richmond and graduated in 2001. So I was a freshman for the 1997-1998 school year, and of course being a young impressionable frosh, I was looking to find the best party I could. One night I ended up at a fraternity party for the frat I ended up joining one year later. There was beer pong. There was Asshole. And there was caps. I played them all, and I was merry. So it's about 1:00 am and the party is just starting to get good... which is exactly when you're supposed to take the party to the next level.

My roommate and I ran back to our dorm room to grab his potato cannon which he made out of PVC pipe and rubber cement. We grabbed a box of clementines at the store that week, you know the little mini oranges that come in a big crate in the produce section. So we hauled the potato cannon and the clementines back towards the party.

The house which held the party backed up to the school's Intramural Fields, a perfect place to unleash hell. So we gathered some friends, set up camp and began firing clementines into the air. The sound of the cannon brought none other than UR senior Shawn Barber out of his house nearby, and he was immediately intrigued by our arsenal. He watched as my roomate fired clementines into the air as the rest of us tried to run under them and catch them on the other side of the field.

Then Shawn Barber looked at my 5'9", 220 pound friend who was not fleet of foot, and most certainly not graceful, and said something I'll never forget. "Damn! That's the worst thing I ever saw! Boy, you should not be running. Do us all a favor and never run again. Shit, I gotta go wash my eyes out."

True story. I was pretty ecstatic when the Skins drafted him.

Yeah that was back before she was the huge star she is today, all married to Tom Cruise and crap. Nobody really swarmed her at school, pretty much let her be. But Joshua Jackson and James Vanderbeek (Pacey and Dawson) got absolutely mobbed by the freshmen girls. I didn't meet Dawson, just saw him from afar, definitely looked gangly and goofy. Thinking back on it, all I can think of is "I don't want, your life."

Definitely tell it! Meeting celebrities is always cooler when there's a story to go with it! Hopefully it didn't involve rape or bloody ears?

A co-worker and I were having a conversation a couple of weeks ago about who would be fun to hang out with for a day. We decided to make a list of five (living) people. My list was:
1. Portis
2. Hugh Hefner
3. Will Farrel
4. Richard Branson (I think that's his name; the guy who owns the Virgin companies and owns an incredible island in the Fiji area)
5. The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin

2. Dave Chappelle

Re: Celebrities you've met?

Aight....I'll do my best to make this sound interesting without sensationalizing the night.

So me and like three of my boys drive from D.C. to N.Y. on a very cold week night, again we're talking late 80s here. Initially we were going to meet another friend who lived in NY. The plan never involved meeting Mike Tyson or anyone else for that matter. Finally we get there, somewhere in NY, and we start meandering down these dark ass, very shady streets and my boy like pops outta nowhere and hops into the truck. (remember the show when Dave Chappelle goes to the hood and he didn't know about it until he was there, yeah you get the picture)

We then decide to go to this very happening club in Harlem. It was like five stories tall with a different genre of music on every floor. It was mainly a hip-hop/R&B type crowd although it was very mixed. Chics galour...unreal!..but I digress. So my buddy makes a call on his (now antiquated) mobile phone and tells us we're meeting up with some other thug friends of his and we're going together. Like five minutes later we pull up to an entorage of SUVs and Mike Tyson is the front one on the passenger side. Get this - the guy driving Tyson around is name Jesus....not (Hay-Zus) Jesus...as in Christ!! We were cracking up when we heard this, but you know all the time we're trying to be the cool dudes from D.C. I knew it would be an interesting night right then and there.

So Tyson jumps out of the SUV (red Toyota) and starts congregating in the streets with some of the guys. He's friggin' wearing a short mink coat, right?, with one of those thermal long sleve shirts underneath it (the kind your dad used to wear), blue jeans and a pair of ankle high New Balance boots with no socks....talk about Thug Fabulous! Anyway, so we get to the club...oh, actually before the club he pulls off an antic. We come to a stop a light (we're like three vehicles behind him and Jesus) and there's a couple of, either Japanese or Korean, women in a car at the same light. They look up and see Tyson in the passenger side of the truck. True shit! I guess they recognize who it was and got excited. So they're like talking with their hands signaling "give us an autograph", right? He f'n jumps out of the truck right there at the red light and starts trying to get their phone number totally ignoring the fact they want his autograph. But there was the whole language barrier thing so they really couldn't get the words out...and after all it is Mike Tyson we're talking about here. He starts doing all this wild shit in the middle of the street and finally the ladies got scared and turned off by everything. He really scared them with some of the shit he was saying to them. They roll up the car windows in haste....and disgust (yes, we're still at this f'n light)....(no way I'll get to what happened at the club part on this same page)...Tyson get's pissed and starts shaking their little Japanese car right there in the middle of the street! The light finally turns green (it probably turned green and red about twice but I was so caught up I didn't realize it!) and they pull off tires screeching and speaking in some foreign language. He's giving them the finger, yelling obscenities, holding his crotch and everything as they pull off.

I couldn't freaking believe what I just saw - it was surreal. We just met this guy that is larger than life and he's acting like a complete idiot and animal in the middle of the street.

I have met a ton of Skins guys back in the 70's when I was a little boy:

Charlie Taylor - my personal favorite
Coach Allen
Kilmer
Jurgenson
Rusty Tillman - watched Animal House with him at my uncles house
Joe Theisman(early 80's)

Non-Skins:

Dick Trickle - used to drive NASCAR for my cousin
Elliot/Hermie Sadler - Their dad went to school with my dad in Emporia, VA
Dale Jarrett- in the pits at Pocono raceway before he qualified (awesome experience and real down to earth guy)
Rusty Wallace - best friends with my cousin
Bobby Wadkins- was the touring pro at my old golf club in Richmond, VA -played a few rounds with him and he still can't putt worth a shit.
Earl Campbell - good friends with my uncle who ran a luggage business in Dallas/Ft. Worth back in the early 80's
Jon Ritchie - fullback for the Eagles/Raiders (friends with my brother in law as they went to the same high school)

Re: Celebrities you've met?

I met Terry Gillies (sp?) once. His daughter lived across the hall from me freshman year. I didn't know who he was until my hockey-obsessed neighbor told me that he was a defenseman for the NY Islanders back in the early 80's when they won a bunch of Stanley Cups. Apparently he used to get into fights with the guy they called The Tazmanian Devil (at the beginning of Happy Gilmore) everytime they played.

I wasn't sure if he was any good until one day his daughter told us she was going to a trip to Canada b/c her dad was getting inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame! (I guess peter king likes him)

I did security few years back. Dan Akroyd/Jim Belushi were doing a Blue Bro.'s show afterwards got to give them a shake and said word. Dan A. picks up this smoking hot 21 yr old girl threw her in the Limo and peeled wheels outta that spot for some action I bet.Other than that.

Sold a used PS2 to Vishante Shiancoe of the NY GIANTS. He went locally to Morgan St. His girlfriend is a fine ass around the way type of girl that is built to swing on a side note.
Grew up in same neighborhood as Nikoli Volcoff-word, Johnny Unitas too
Met KRS ONE, Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Sade, Ravens of 2001 team. Santa

Re: Celebrities you've met?

I briefly dated this girl like 5 years ago for a couple of months, and one day she's like "my ex-boyfriend is in town this weekend and he wants to hang out." And I'm the very very jealous type so I wasn't cool with it. But I wanted to show that I was trusting so I was like ok, well why don't a bunch of us go out and play some pool or something.

And she's like "Ok, but it might be a problem if we go to a public place with Brian" Um ok, whatever....so anyway long story short Saturday night comes and I meet this Brian guy. And he's one of the freakin' Backstreet Boys! That was like a disturbing celebrity meet. To think I was getting the sloppy seconds of a Backstreet Boy.
