Tony Romo
Just heard during the NBC Sunday night game.
Tony Romo will likely get the opening day start in Dallas over Drew Bledsoe. |
Re: Tony Romo
I think that was basically a Peter King "Things I think I think". I mean it could happen, but I don't think he was basing it on anything more than what he's observed
|
Re: Tony Romo
Somehow I doubt that.
|
Re: Tony Romo
Yeah, all I got out of that report was, "Am I seriously sitting here listening to Peter King speculate about the Cowboys' untested backup maybe, possibly, in some bizarre moment of Parcellsian whimsy, unseating the seasoned veteran Bledsoe? Is that what football halftime shows have sunk to? Oh, the humanity!"
I think Romo has less chance of unseating Bledsoe than Campbell has of unseating Brunell, and I don't expect to see Campbell starting full-time unless Brunell gets injured and Campbell plays absolutely lights-out, which is pretty much what happened in the Bledsoe-Brady episode King alluded to in his little pipe-dream segment. |
Re: Tony Romo
old man parcells trying to put some pressure on bledsoe to perform better.
|
Re: Tony Romo
Bledslow, Roamer, makes no difference. We'll beat the cow-not-quite-men again! Twice!
HTTR! BEAT DALLAS! |
Re: Tony Romo
As others have said I believe that was plain od speculation by dumb sh*t King. But.... I have heard from similar things on two other radio shows. Apparently they are in love with Romo down there. Or at least the Tuna is.
|
Re: Tony Romo
I think it's less a knock on Bledsoe who only has a year or two left than it is on Henson, who was supposed to be the next great QB and has yet to show any progress
|
Re: Tony Romo
I wonder if this was Owens' idea.
|
Re: Tony Romo
HE sucks. He is just buying Drew some time to rest. I would look awesome too if all my recievers routes were hitches, outs and dump offs. Romo is a joke.
|
Re: Tony Romo
He played good in one preseason game, so idiot peter king thinks hes amazing now...there is no way he's going to start
|
Re: Tony Romo
Not only that, his stats were a MIGHT padded considering he played the WHOLE game.
|
Re: Tony Romo
its all post-season hype, much like the sky is falling predictions people are all having all over extremeskins.com brutal.

Re: Tony Romo
mort just said on ESPN we shouldn't be surprised if romo starts for the cowboys soon
|
Re: Tony Romo
I think Bledsoe answered some questions tonight.
He's the starter. |
Re: Tony Romo
Bledsoe will start the season. Romo will start only if Bledsoe collapses or is injured. Next year is a different story.
|
Re: Tony Romo
Yea but i think there leaning towards Romo for next season if they are trying to renogatiate a deal with him
|
Re: Tony Romo
of course romo will start after week 2 once ST kills bledsoe. so i definetly see that happening.
|
Re: Tony Romo
U have a very valid point
|
Re: Tony Romo
I understand some of the concern isn't so much Bledsoe but can that offensive line protect Bledsoe for a full season. But who knows, I thought getting TO was supposed to solve all the Cowboys problems, cure cancer, end war, find the holy grail, etc.
I think Bledsoe answered some questions tonight.
He's the starter.
yeah,he looked too damn good,2 tds in his first action and our off cant do shit,i know,i know, its only preseason |
Re: Tony Romo
Thats funny Cure Cancer with Cancer Good 1 Tafkas
|
Re: Tony Romo
Lets not put Romo in Canton just yet.
How the hell can a guy with ZERO passes in the NFL become the starter over a 9 year NFL starter - who isn't Jeff george. Crazy. The offense did look good for the first quarter. Defense looked pretty good. |
Re: Tony Romo
sorry, been avoiding the forum cause of work-related things (new emlpoyment etc), but also cause of the massive silly threads ;)
it was against bottom 5 defense that was missing starters. people fall in love with backups all over the place in preseason. he looked okay, but bledsoe is 10x better at this point and it's not even a question who's starting on opening day. |

yeah, well what did brunell do in a preseason game against the jets? ooooohh |
Re: Tony Romo
Argh. All this concern over preseason. Nobody knows what kind of schemes WE'RE running. According to most articles, they are running plays for individuals to see how certain INDIVIDUALS react, not running plays to help the team win. It's obvious that winning the preseason games is not as important to the Skins as it is to other teams. This is what helps us evaluate talent, helps us to see what specific plays we should run and how certain players react in one-on-one situations.

A pregnant question: What was Coach A. Saunders PS record at KC and before? That may show us that he was doing there what he appears to be doing here, and not worried about the PS records. Certainly he's not game planning! |
Re: Tony Romo
But that's at KC though. He's working with a different staff here and they might ask different things of him.

You're right on target, did you write this article on the WT?
"Most of what we do from a preparation and play-calling standpoint is designed for us to get an evaluation of players doing specific things," Saunders said. "We devised some plays for Mike Sellers so we could see him lead block and see him run the ball, and we did the same for Antwaan Randle El to put him on the perimeter. We were pleased with some of the individual phases of what we're trying to accomplish."
Just to elaborate a bit more, different teams have different preseason agendas. Some teams go a bit more all-out (what's up with all the reverses and flea-flickers?) and some teams like the Redskins are in evaluation mode. If you get too caught up in the final scores, you're going to be very disappointed. If you focus on individual performances, you'll be much more on target as to what the preseason means to this staff. |
Re: Tony Romo
Ahhh! Sweet, do you notice that Saunders and I are never in the same room at the same time? :D

I agree with you on most everything, scores dont matter, but I'd still like to see better results from our starters,if brunell came in and did what Bledsoe did in his first game we'd all be going ga-ga saying how great we are,if theres no concern then why was Gibbs so frickin upset? many post on here said theyve never seen him like that,is he going for an oscar? i'm not anywhere close to panic mode right now but I am very concerned |
Re: Tony Romo
I wouldn't, and I think most of us keep things grounded here. I know we'd all feel good on the outside, but most of us are fairly knowlegeable and know that there are so many factors that we don't know applying.
|
Re: Tony Romo
I think we need not get to worked up by the preseason results so far as backrow as made a strong point. Hell ,I live in Southern California (Raidier Nation #2) and everywhere I go I keep hearing Raider fan claiming super bowl after a 3-0 preseason start. How many of you seriously really think Oakland will be better than a .500 team?

Get real. That won't happen. Andre Carter will kill Bledsoe, Taylor will take out Owens. :) |

I don't mean to quote myself but... ESPN.com - NFL - Parcells: QB Henson won't be with Cowboys in '06 |
