Why don't the Redskins have better merchandise
 

I have to say this... everyone talks about how great a merchandiser Dan Snyder is... it's crap. The Danny, or whomever works for the Danny, doesn't put out the best merchandise for the Redskins. I've seen beautiful jerseys, caps, jackets, and other things for other teams, but the Redskins consistently drop the ball. Why was it so hard to find a black EQT for the Redskins, and so easy for everyone else? Why do we make more money than the Yankees, and Yankees seem to have fresh caps and other things every year? Why don't the Redskins have hip-hop friendly gear when they play for, ironically, Chocolate City? Dallas seems to have no problems doing it, and neither do New York or Philly. Step your game up, Snyder... I'm sick of those Flexfits and ashy looking baseball caps.

Here's a piece of merch I've been dying to see - a "Hail to the Redskins" cover album.

Get the Marching Band to do it, clean up the original, and hire some of the bands who play club level to record versions of our song. Sell it for $15 at the shops in and around the stadium. I'd be all over that.

While we're at it, why doesn't redskins.com have a downloadable ringtone?

The only thing I can think of reminds of my years in the Restaurant industry. I was a manager at this place called "Houston's" for several years. On occasion, we would have to destroy quite a bit of old uniforms. I once made the suggestion of giving them to a charity, shelter, Goodwill, etc. It was brought to my attention that we didn't do that because we didn't want the logo'd uniforms winding up on the backs of vagrants living in the parks and such. Basically, they didn't want to "tarnish the name".

I got a chance to go to a Redskins Store for the first time ever not too long ago, and the only thing that pissed me off about the merchandise is there was nothing below a Large...that is rediculous. Another time my bro tried to order me a shirt for Christmas on line, and they sent us a kids large instead of a small. I'll just stick with my Darrell Green jersey for now I guess

Really, I don't think the team has a lot of say in the merchandise choices. The manufacturers (Reebok, Adidas, Nike, Zubaz, the Chinese kids sewing for WAL*MART, whatever...) choose the designs and which teams to sell and at what volume. There are also league licensing issues and I'm not sure if the team can just make whatever they want. For instance, I'm sure a pink Yankees hat wasn't Steinbrenner's idea.

Hey, if you want "Hiphop-friendly" clothes, just take whatever size you wear and multiply it by 3.

If you wear a medium, get an XXL.

I love the black jerseys.... it's easier to accessorize with... also looks good with the black Nationals "DC logo" cap... As for the hip-hop bashing, don't forget... we are the ones that made the sports industry put throwbacks into the limelight... before us, you couldn't find one unless you bought it when it came out, and the Redskins wouldn't have brought back the uni from the late '60s either...

Yea what ever! I've been wearing my throwback Angels and Lakers jerseys since the early 90's I used to be one of the only ones in the stadium with one on. I even got complements from players on several occasions. Now ever yahoo that wants one can go on e-bay and get one. They don't mean Jack anymore. So yea if you like to be a clone and look like everyone else thank the "hip hop industry." I personally like it better when it showed you had been a fan since that jersey was around.
And I disagree that the Redskins wouldn't have brought back there 60’s style uniforms in not for hip hop. They did that for there 70th anniversary not because of fashion. In 94 the whole league wore throwbacks for the NFL 75th anniversary. That was about 7 years before "Hip Hop” made it cool.

I noticed that too. It was pretty funny. But then I also saw some guys outside of the stadium selling a couple that actually looked really nice (although I just glanced as I walked by, so who knows). But I guess some people just don't really care all that much.

Anyone see the jacket that Gibbs was wearing yesterday against Dallas? That thing was sweet and I want one. Check it out, there were plenty of shots of Gibbs during the game, especially during the missed/blocked/made field goal battle.

Anyone know how I can get my hands on one of those?

I agree, I think the selection is weak at best. Where are the redskins everything, I'm talking belt buckles, indian gear, hats, towels, newer styles, i mean the D on dallas hats looks cool (hate to admit it), seems to me mr. synder and his minions could design more gear

are you guys actually looking??? there are massive amounts of merchindise. Im constantly buying new stuff, nice cool stuff. hats, shirts, sweats, jackets, cupholders, mugs, shot glasses,pens...........and so on. I agree some stuff isnt that great, but thats with anything. You just have to look around a little harder. Theres plenty out there for all taste and styles. And yes. I think the black jerseys are ugly, but the pink & white Moss girls jersey looks hot as hell on my wife!
