The first 2 games last year...

So we are 0-2. Last year at this point we were 2-0. We played about as crappy our first 2 games last year as well. We just got lucky.

In the first game we got 3 field goals. The bears almost took the lead late in the fourth quarter but their QB threw a bad pass and we picked it off. That could have gone either way, just like the Vikings game.

We all remember the Dallas game. They outplayed us the whole game last year as they did this year. After what happened last year and all the talk about it, you can't see Dallas giving up two huge plays like that again. At least in this game we scored 10 points in the first half. I know those passes to Moss were amazing, but we could have maybe even should have lost that game... and been 1-1 or 0-2.

The team got off to a slow start just like this year... We just got a few more breaks in '05. We'll see what happens...

5 and 11 with Brunell under center...

That seems to be most people's feelings around here, eh?

Re: The first 2 games last year...

Don't forget, we almost lost the first three games last year. Seattle's kicker blew a 41yd FG that could've won them the game.

I'm not worried about 0-2. I am worried about how we are playing though.

Well, let's pick apart those 10 points, shall we?

The field goal was part of a "drive" that included two personal foul penalties against Dallas, with one of them being complete BS. I'm sorry. These days, the refs are treating quarterbacks as though they are flag football players. That roughing the passer penalty should not have been called.

And while it's great to see special teams step up, and I'm happy for Rock Cartwright, it was all for naught -- we need to see the offense take it to the house.

hopefully the woeful Texans will help the Skins get that jumpstart they ever so need...

That's true. But our offense looked just as bad or worse in the game last year .... for the first 56 minutes, at least.

Re: The first 2 games last year...

So what's your point? Last year we started 2-0 in spite of playing poorly and finished 10-6. This year are we going to go 8-8?

Regardless of how the games go, there is a pretty damn massive difference between being 0-2 and 2-0

Re: The first 2 games last year...

The point is that everyone's mood is completely different than last year this time... and yet the team is playing at about the same level.

Hopefully this year we can really kick it into gear before the 10th or 11th game... like we did last year.

if you think our defense played this crappily lat year, i seriously suggest you go back and rewatch that bearss and dallas game. they gave up 20 points, not 46.

Re: The first 2 games last year...

Let's not freak out yet. Brunell has to get comfortable with the offense (along with the rest of the offense) and this is a good team for that to happen. Let's not act like the season is lost. We are going into week 3 playing Houston. If we lose this one, then we can freak out!

The mood was completely different because ummm... Washington was 2-0 and they had just beaten Dallas in a heartstopper. This year, the piss poor level of play has cost them the first two games, and they were just shellacked by Dallas. It's not that hard to figure out the difference in attitude.

And kicking it into gear by week 10 or 11 won't matter much, when they're 3-8 by that point...

I have to agree with you. No matter how sloppy those first two games were last year, they were still wins. The team still has a really tough schedule ahead of them after Houston and wins are going to be really hard to come by.
Last season was really nice and all, but a lot of things went our way, so we really shouldn't be looking back too much.

i see your point but it doesn't make me feel any better. i am glad though that houston is next. if we lose to them, then start to worry, big time.

Cooley was on Elliot in the morning today and he said the same thing.

Exactly. This team reminds me of the 2001 Chicago Bears. That team had the ball bounce their way several times that season, and ended up going 13-3. In 2002, all the lucky bounces they got in the previous season were going the other way, and the exact same personal went 4-12.

That’s what is happening to this Redskins team. The breaks they got last year, aren’t going their way this year, and they have to rely on talent(that is severely lacking at some positions) and execution that isn’t anywhere close to polished yet.

Good point. We are getting zero breaks so far...

Oh yes, and someone else said the D played better the first 2 games last year which is true... that's something that's definitely disturbing.

The offense on the other hand seems no different than the first 2 games last year... except for the 2 long passes in the Dallas game.

Re: The first 2 games last year...

It is still early in the season. I expect the offense to get into gear against the Texans and carry that into the rest of the season. With Portis back, we are a different team on Offense.

The defense needs to wake up and play hungry football. They need to be more aggressive and go after the QB. Too many 3rd down conversions.

The special teams can right on scoring a TD per week for all I care.

We are a good team that is underacheiving right now. This week we win big-- 35-3

I think were gonna win huge this week...and the sad part is WE PROBABLY WONT EVEN GET THE GAME SOMEONE PLEASE RECORD IT AND UPLOAD IT IF ITS A WIN! :(:( PLEASEEEEEEEEE! My predictions for the score 53-7 Redskins (if the offense starts working for brunell and everyone else and the defense lays into David carrs ass!) 35-0 Redskins if it doesent

yes that makes two of us then doesn,t it.
nevermind the slow start but it,s the way we are going about things that bothers me too.

the houston offense is obviously better than you give them them credit for.

Im a little worried about houstons offense and our ability to cover speedy guys...Moulds and Johnson are pretty damn fast....and i like Carr....but if we get some hits on him and he has to leave the game they have Sage R. coming in ....i like our chances then :-)

All Joking aside...we had a 2 game losing streak and a 3 game losing streak last year...we just got our 2 game one out of the way early!! Look for our offense to click NOW!...im sure after that last game Gibbs and Brunell have sat down and discussed the future of the team and #8's role if he does not improve....Keep the faith!!! SB XLI is oursss
