Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Hard to pick just one, but let's hear who's your MVP
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
moss! without a doubt! he scored 2 huge tds mostly running after the catch! hail!
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I say the O Line...all day just man handled one of the best defenses in the league.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss, no doubt. But damn Portis changes our whole team. Even Betts runs so much better because of Portis. Oline played awsome.
What a win! |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
moss
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss was pure excitement today, he stepped up and made it happen.
My pick for MVP is 1) Moss 1a) Offensive line, Portis, Brunell |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
That's a tough call! Definitely not Brunell - he played very well, but the O-line, Portis, and Moss made most of those plays. I went with Moss, 'cause, seriously, 3 TDs and about 100 YAC? HTTR!
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
O-Line, everything begins up front. Surely is the most overlooked and taken for granted position on every level of the sport. Our run game is working and Brunell isnt being sacked. I have all love for the Dirt Bags. In fact I am going to put dirt in a bag and throw it at the next Giants fan I see as a warning.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
The refs for calling 'illegal touching' on Cooley to allow the next play to happen!!!
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
offensive line...they dominated one of the best defensive lines in the league
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
The special teams!
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
MOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But a GREAT performance by our offensive linemen, Portis, and a good job by Brunell today. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss
Big time players show up for big games. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
It's hard to pick one because everyone mentioned is worthy. I picked the OL because no way did I think they woiuld handle Jacksonville's D-line the way they did. Moss and Portis was excellent as usual.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss by a mile. Brunell more than made up for the INT, but Moss scored those TD's on ability, more than the quality of the pass. Portis was excellent, but Moss broke the game open.
Hard to pick just one, but let's hear who's your MVP
Brunell was 18-30 for 329 yds, was that his hightest game total since becoming a Redskin? |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
To pick between Moss and Portis?? I guess Moss becuase he scored in Overtime. They are both incredible!!!
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I said it in another thread, but I'll say it again and I said last year as well, there isn't a wideout in the NFL I would rather have than Moss. Chad, Marvin, Steve Smith included.

The man is unbelievable. You get him the ball and he goes straight for a TD.....that's all he thinks about. I feel blessed that he's a Redskin!! |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I would say the MVP would be the Jags run game, or lack of. But Oline baby, its all them, they blocked well and opened up the pass, otherwise Moss would never be open.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss...
And to quote Clinton Portis - "He's the best cross-eyed receiver I've ever met." |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss. He made some huge plays today when we needed him to. The o-line deserves some credit too, they held one of the best d-lines in the league without a sack.

I wasn't watching ESPN not too long ago, and Eric Allen (ex-Eagle) said Steve Smith was hands down the best in the NFL. I was like, whoa....first off he and Santana we're neck and neck last year for yds and catches. He beat Moss by like a hair and this year I believe Moss is off to a better start. But for him to say, hands down, obviously he's not watching a lot of football. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Santana Moss. This is an easy one for me.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
My vote has to be the offensive line. Clearly, they got sick of hearing all week long about how the Jaguars monster front four was going to eat them alive.
Without their superb play, there's no 152 yards rushing, no 329 yards passing from Brunell, and no spectacular play from Santana Moss. Plus, they did not allow a sack. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
man i picked Santana just because it's never been clearer how much of a talent he is. all those yards were strictly him, not a perfectly led pass, not a blown coverage, but HIM.
you see him press the Madden Spin button on that 1st TD? not only is he fast, he's QUICK, right after the catch and in the open field. corners just can't deal. YAC is a four letter word. that said, the offensive line MADE this game possible. i've never been so proud of them. i dare say a perfect game. A++ Moss just takes it because of the spectacular OT play we ALL were aching for. including the OLine. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I'm going to have to go with the off line for the 2nd week in a row, especially on the running game, the right side of the line seemed to be pancaking everybody and opening up huge lanes to run through,I thought i heard the commentators say the jags had only given up an avg of 59 yrds rushing per game so far,we shattered that, great job by the dirtbags

First time in 13 games they've allowed a 100-yard rusher I believe |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Santana had a crazy game and normally, I'd give it to him hands down... but the O-line didn't just do their job today... they dominated. The Jags' D-line was getting blown off the ball nearly every snap. Portis and Betts were churning out yardage like nobody's business because of those holes. I was just shocked at how one sided the line battle was today against a normally stout front.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Geez...impossible to say. Moss is a threat any time he catches the ball. I take him one on one against any CB in the league. He will score 25% of the time.
Brunell played a hell of a game. A game I wasn't sure he still had in him. The O-line is what set it everything up. The have been much maligned this year so I give them the nod here when our offense looked as good as it has since Gibbs has been back. O-line by nose. I like when it is hard to choose one because so many have done so well. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss without question. Saunders should get a tounge lashing every time he doesn't get it to him 5-10 times a game.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss gets my vote for obvious reasons (especially the 31 fantasy points!), but the O-line looked fucking sick... they get out and block for the run alot more than they have in the past and they just plow over everybody! I was VERY impressed with the play of our O-LINE today against a D-Line and linebacker unit that were some of the top in the league...
Pittsburg could NOT establish a run on these guys and Portis and the O line made them look terrible! D looked like they are improving, but need to tighten up in the secondary.... |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Although I voted O-line, I don't see anyone beating Mr. Moss for NFC offensive player of the week...
|

From section 136 he looked phenomenal! I really wanted to run on the field and pummel the ref, he was an asshole. |
Brunell played a hell of a game. A game I wasn't sure he still had in him.
I didn't think he had it in him either...Thats why Mr Brunnel Gets my game ball... |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I voted Portis because he softened up their defense. Moss was awesome but Portis did what no man has done in 13 games against that defense. Moses couldn't have parted the Red Sea any better. He shall lead our people to the promised land.
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Moss........was a beast today.....
|
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
I'm giving props to Brunell because of his numbers and it seems (to me) that he's not getting enough support in this poll. He played a great game in executing the game plan that was called.
The entire team stepped up today. Portis really set the tone for the game. The O-line handled the defense - the running plays gave the the chance to dictate to Jacksonville and they were magnificent in doint it. Cooley stepped up. The defense was better. And Moss - wow! |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
If I'm ever going to pick a WR as MVP of anything, it would be today. I really want to go Brunell for his consistent play and rebounding from the flea flicker INT well. But in a game of big plays on both sides, we really needed a gamebreaker to keep up with them. So Moss gets my game MVP. But let's give the D-Line a little love. Even though the D gave up 30 points (I'l credit Jacksonville playcalling for that one) we pressured Leftwich all day. Daniels even got a well deserved pick.
And Cooley made his triumphant return to the statsheet today. Not only that, but he had a great day blocking. And Christian Fauria officially has more holding calls this year than great blocks. Cooley is our best blocking TE, and thats gonna be a problem. |
Re: Redskins - Jaguars MVP
Rock did a GREAT job on returns today. Hall was excellent. Frost was excellent minus the one shanked punt. Special teams earned an A- today. Kick Coverage was iffy at times.
And ol' Sean Taylor was really crackin heads today. Namely Reggie Williams' head. |
