What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I had to put my son to bed right after Moss scored, but when I got back downstairs the ref was saying that the call on the field stood. What was the review about? Thanks!

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I think it was just to look it over to make sure that there wasn't something obvious to overturn.
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
They thought Moss had stepped out of bounce before he had caught the football....
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
They checked he didn't go OOB before the catch. Not even close!
TBH I've always thought that rule stank. OK if a player runs OOB under his own steam, but if he is pushed out? You can be pushed OOB while making a catch, but you can't be pushed OOB before the catch? |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
they were checking if he was out of bounds
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
The rule does suck. If Moss had gone out of bounds, it would've been becuase the guy pushed him out. They should get rid of that rule. Even if Moss had been pushed out of bounds, and came back in and caught the pass, it would've been called back because of it. Thank goodness Moss didn't step out of bounds.

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I thought the call on Cooley stepping out was very very close....
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
They had to verify that he was THAT bad ass and hardcore. The refs think he used time travel to morph through 2 defenders but their technology cant process that info, not for another century.

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
Peter King asked for the review!
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
Seems the refs have blown a few on us already, only to come back and not call the same damn thing on the opponent. It's getting old.

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
Isn't the exception to the rule if you get pushed out of bounds and then re-establish your self in play you can still catch the ball. if im not mistaken didn't that happen to us or against us this year?
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
to remind Al Saunders how much of a playmaker Santana is.

You are right. You can re-establish if, in the opinion of the official, you are forced out and you IMMEDIATELY try to get back on the field. This happens a lot to the gunners on punt coverage. You could make the case for Cooley being forced out, but judgements are not reviewable. Whatever the official on the field decides initially in regards to a force-out is immune from overturn. The same is true for a force-out on a catch. Santana was bumped out in an earler game, maybe Minnesota but I can't remember. In that case he was ruled elligible to make a catch. The call went against us at home vs. Dallas last year (again Santana). |

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
Not only that, if it was a force-out by the defense, and it was after 5 yards (which it was in Cooley's case) then that should be illegal contact and an automatic first down.
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
bullshit..........trying to find away to screw us..........well F*** that

That's right! Still, that catch by Cooley was bad ass! He had a great game blocking and catching. |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I thought they could have ruled Cooley was pushed out, but oh well it didn't end up hurting us.
When they were replaying the game winner I was like NOOOOOOO what's going on??!! Then they showed the replay and I was like, what in the hell are they looking at???!! He was nowhere near going out of bounds. |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
The stadium was chanting "Bull Shit!" during the review. Which it was. I swear I think a good portion of us would have stormed the field if the call was overturned.

I don't think anyone in my section knew what was going on. One minute we were all jumping around screaming like idiots and the next we were all on our phones trying to call people to see what was up. I think people would have jumped down fromt he upper level to fight the refs i they had changed that call. |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
Thanks for filling in the blanks! All in all, I think I'm glad I didn't sit through that 2-3 minutes. Once I saw the players walking on the field and talking to the other team, I assumed it was over and left the room. Sounds like I saved myself a mini-coronary.

Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I thought Cooley WAS forced out, but oh well...losing that call made us look deep for Moss. :)
Cooley's catch was incredible though, even my wife was impressed by his footwork. It's a shame that it didn't count but I like the outcome of the game. |

HA. They must've filtered that out for the broadcast somehow. I didn't hear it! :D |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
The best was a blown call tho...i was sitting in sec 139 like 5 rows up when bettis did his little sweep to the left....the Jags defender grabbed his facemask and twisted him around...i thought he ripped off his neck..NO CALL!!
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
The Ref just wanted to see the play again because it looked so good the first time. They also needed to see which player blasted by all of them so they could give that player credit for the TD.

We could see that one all the way up in 429. I was shocked that there wasn't a flag. |

I was talking to my friend who sat up in the upper level and he said he could hear some sort of chant but not the words. |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
yea that was just insane!!
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
i meant betts haha not bettis...woops
|
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
that was an amazing ball!!! he placed that right inbetween where it needed to be!!! And wow does Moss have some moves......that spin move in the first half was great too!!!

LOL! :) I can imagine the ref: "The play is being reviewed as the officiating crew believe a law of physics has just been broken" "Upon further review, it has been determined that Santana Moss moved so fast that he was able to pass through solid objects. The call on the field stands." |
Re: What was the review about on Moss's OT TD?
I finally saw a replay on the Skin's homepage but it's from a bad angle. Am I mistaken or did Moss hang up in the air for about 3 seconds like he was in The Matrix while the two defenders collided under him?

I don't know what all Moss did during those three seconds but I do know that I had a full container of popcorn before the catch and an empty container after the catch. Also, my large collector's cup full of Coke was completely gone. When I got back to my van after the game , I noticed that the gas tank was now full with about 3,000 additional miles on the odometer. On the ride home my friend found a polaroid picture of Santana and 6 or 7 bikini clad ladies in what looks like a hot tub at a resort in Colorado (Breckenridge, maybe?). Draw your own conclusions... |
