Ahmad Carroll
I can not believe that green bay release carroll today he is an incredible talen who is very fast and can tackle. Even though he made some mistakes yesterday all corners make mistakes. I mean Green Bay as a whole plays terrible defense. I believe we ought to give this guy a chance to prove himself as the number one draft pick he was. We need help and I know we need Springs back now but hey guys he is getting older and we need to think about a replacement. Just a thought he has been a starter in this league except for this year. What do you guys think I know we can get him cheap this year.

Re: Ahmad Carroll
Great...we can put him alongside Rumpf and Archuleta and call it the "all first round bust defensive backfield." I know Im being hard on Arch, but lets be honest, hes looked pretty terrible in coverage.
I just dont feel good about signing someone who cant even make a weak Packers squad. Plus there's no time for him to learnt he system, so how long will it be before he's effective? |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
the packers d is horrible. if he cant play there, he wouldn't work here
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
he seems to be pretty good at tackling... so i wouldn't see why greg williams wouldn't look at him
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
everyone's worth a look, if you have a need
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Carroll sucks. Even Packer fans believe this, and these are the same people who believe that Ryan Pickett is the leagues best DT.
If you are fed up with Kenny Wright holding, just wait until Ahmad Carroll comes around. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
I can see them trying him out if he's cheap, but he's just like wright and rumph... if we can develop one of them into a starter, great, but they both are suspect against fast recievers, which jacksonville doesn't have, and whom carroll cant cover!
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Carroll, wow what a defensive intimidator.
4th and 26...... 4th and 26 sums up the GB defense they were apart of. I dont think Carroll is even worth adding to future carpel tunnels to talk about, had this been done 1 month ago he would have been better than Rumph, Fox, Edwards, and whatever houligans we could shave, shower, and dress to pass off as DB's for Springs. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Then again, alot of people wrote off Griffin before we got him.. and Clark as well, and they turned out to thrive under our coaching, and we have a need. I'd be cautious about the move, but after reading his scouting reports (skimming through a couple online) apparently he was highly touted as a college athelete. He ran a 4.26 40....

He played for the weakest defensive team. I dont think he can play our last year style at all. Maybe he could fit into the broken coverages and tackles of this year. |

Rumph and Carroll were though. Rumph has really made major strides this year. Hes moved from terrible to plain below average in my book. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
we don't have a speed guy, so that'd be a nice need to fill. I wouldn't expect him to do anything this late though, and, i mean, it's not like he's a great CB anyways.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
yeah, then you have a roster spot to void if you do bring him in...
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Speed and added help cant be denied, but we would probably have to let go of a special teams guy then and that shouldnt be tampered with.
Oh no wait Cory Burns pack your bags, it would be upgrade I would sign for that tomorrow Snyder. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
We don't know what the deal with Ahmad Carroll is. You don't all of a sudden stop being a decent player. I'm guessing something is fishy in Packer land. He won't clear weavers, so there is no chance of us giving him a look.
Besides the bad tackling all round, Rumph and Wright played pretty well against the Jags. I was certainly surprised when they left Rumph all alone in man coverage towards the end of the game. So yeah, GW can turn mediocre into decent...I wonder what he can do with decent. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Some players just need a change of scenery to take off. I'd give him a contract on the cheap in a second. As bad as we need DBs.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
we really need a coverage safety more than another CB though. curry burns sucks and fox is just a ST player and nothing else. doughty's also been non-existant, not that a rookie 6th rounder is expected to turn up with serious minutes anyways.

Re: Ahmad Carroll
Anyone who continues to bash Rumph is blind. The guy has been a huge pickup and has made some excellent plays.

really, the guy has come a long way in a short time |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
...and For Taylor Jacobs
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
...and For Taylor Jacobs
that's the key point. but rumph shouldn't be starting, and carlos does much better as a #2. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
carrol has only been around a few years...kind of a quick hook on a real young player. this is only the beginning of his third season! just turned 23 years old!!!!!! come on thats the age of many rookies just coming into the league, this is a bad move by the packers.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
yeah, its not like they have shit clicking out there in good old green bay...
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
he is surely worth a look. i mean i know little about his style but if he fits stylistically then he is at least as good as what we have going for us now. williams is good at taking acstoffs and getting their best.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
GW likes big guys (6", 6", 6", 6'2") and he's only 5'9"
i haven't seen him play much, so i don't know if he can tackle or cover though. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Can we go back till March or so.....
Tell me what good is Archuleta??? What does he do??? He just better be one expensive anchor for when we get to the Super Bowl and dont have to worry so much as a rookie back there. I just hope this team starts rolling and building momentum and come January what little or lot Archuleta does makes this look like a flawless unpenetrable defense. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
hmmm....needs more ade anyways, if we got carrol, ade would be gone...unless hes already been cut and im just not aware
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
sign him mr dan, with our scheme and talent on defense, we can turn this kid into the next smooty. sorry for the packers, they don't have a defensive team there and carrol was on the hot seat for his mistake
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
it seems like Ade hardly gets on the field at all anymore. whats the deal? i thought he was improving last season to the point of making some plays when he did get out there
|

Rumph has taken major strides in development and appears to be on the verge of a good backup. I think taking chances on players who don't fit in other systems isn't such a bad idea, given the quality of our coaching staff. Their talent directly reflects the development of these players. I'm not going out on a limb and say sign Carrol, but If GW + co feels they can "coach him up" then I'm all for it. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
I still can't find any news about this guy... I would think our coaches at this point would be giving him a look....???
We really do have an issue at cornerback, just like we did last year when we had injuries. Its going to cost us games, and with the NFC race going like it is, we cannot afford to lose games... especially division games. Has anyone else picked this guy up yet? |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
according to kffl, he's still a free agent.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
we have enough of other teams rejects, we dont need him here
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
Well, currently our rejects aren't cutting it, Dmek. Might as well try someone elses.
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
i think whats funny is, i see mike rumph making more progress than carlos rogers.

I guess you're right, but Rumph should be progressing faster since he's been playing in the league a little while longer. There's not a lot of second year CB's that get thrust into the #1 role at the start of the season. I think Rogers doesn't believe himself that he is ready which is making his play suffer. As for Rogers dropping INT's, I wouldn't complain too much about that. #28 probably would have had over a 100 INT's in his career if he had better hands. |

Rogers has 2 career INTs and he's probably had at least 5 bounce off his chest. He needs to start making plays in order to win some respect from his opponents. |
Re: Ahmad Carroll
they fall off his hands at the perfect time to get an int and turn the game around too :(
|
Re: Ahmad Carroll
what makes me mad about that is, that is something you can work on, something you can practice
