New Nickname: Carlos "Cushion" Rogers
Now that Taylor "Fraygeeelay" Jacobs is gone, its time to turn my nickname wrath upon someone else and this year's front runner is Carlos Rogers. Rogers is a good tackler and run stopper. At best, he's exhibited skills of a No. 2 corner thus far in his career. I find myself shaking my head at the amount of cushion he gives receivers coming off the line. Now Im not saying that Williams isn't telling him to give that much of a cushion, maybe he is. But it always seems like Carlos is lined up 8-10 yards off of the receiver. Thus, Im suggesting that Cushion be adopted as Carlos nickname until such time as he proves himself worthy of such a high draft pick. Does anyone else have a nickname suggestion for Mr. Rogers?

Re: New Nickname: Carlos "Cushion" Rogers
It's the scheme that has him playing so far off the WR. GW is playing ultra-conservative. He doesn't trust these guys and who can blame him?

I thought it was funny how Joey T was bragging on his awareness earlier in the game and how he always plays the ball... I know even the good ones make mistakes. Just sayin'. Champ on the other hand played very well. I forget how good he is sometimes. |

I know Champ netted us Portis, but before that, the organization made a monumental gaffe giving franchise money to Lavar. A true shutdown corner is far more valuable than a freelancing LB, and Champ should have received the huge contract before Lavar. |

Re: New Nickname: Carlos "Cushion" Rogers
champ didn't get much love while he was here though. 2004 was a terrible defense and he had a bad habit of "tripping" whenever he got beat... and all the bumbling on kick returns (why was he back there?). A lot of local fans thought much less of him than the national media, and there wasn't a whole lot of anger over his departure. He is good though. and you've seen what denver has done with horrid Dlines and good corners (sounds familiar).

So true. As for Rogers, I like "Cushion" the best. I've never seen corners give a 15-yard cushion on 3rd and 5. |
Re: New Nickname: Carlos "Cushion" Rogers
In Carlos' defense, he is will be making just his 13th start (only started 7 games last year including 2 playoff starts) in the nfl this week against the Titans. Give him time and I am sure GW will have him playing like we all thought he would coming out in the first round in last years draft.
