Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
could be a good idea, but if his hammy is bad, it won't help us out much.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
just AWESOME! Another overpaid, under worked, and over the hill under achiever....sweet...lets just use the rest of our cap room for more bench warmers....
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
He said his hammy is fully healed, I'm not against this move, with him back there replacing Archuleta in passing situations, and having Springs back could really shore up our secondary. I'd give him a one year deal.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
maybe a one year deal...if he can produce adn not be injury ridden like everyone else we picked up in the offseason....
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Troy Vincent won't command much money. You don't get signed for much more than the veteran minimum after you've been released in the middle of the year. Did he ever play for Williams? I think he went there after Gregg had already left.

His hammy is fine. The bills made an idiotic move. |

I say he would replace Archuletta period. Archuletta could play in nickel and Dime. |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
If his hamstring is cool then like i said, it could be worth a cheap, one year deal to see if he melds with the defense and it all works like it should....
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
I think the way the season has gone, I would be willing to take a chance and put Archuletta in running situations. Saying that, a move like this might be a turning point that we need to take the next step forward and stay there.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Good point!
AA seems to be better in run coverage. I really hate saying that cuz all his stops on runs were after gains of 6+ yards.... Again, with the way the seasons going, ANYTHING is truly worth a shot.... |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
I really don't think archuletta has done that bad against the run, the pass, well, not so good. All we need is to get a true pass rush and a good coverage. Vincent could possibly help.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
big and key word there: possibly
he has been atrocious in Pass Coverage but i think that has been from lack of pressure. Has GW lost his mind??? Last year we blizted i would say close to half the time(maybe) but this year, jesus WHERE THE FUCK IS THE FAMOUS KICK YA ASS SKINS ALL OUT RUSH? Havent seen it but maybe once or twice and , it didnt work.... D needs to tighten up...and rush a lot more...that too if the offense gets it crackin and shows GW we can score and move the ball effectively, he will be more inclined to pin his ears back and let the grass/turf fly... |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
True, GW seems to be scared to blitz because of the secodary problems, but if you give the qb all day, we will get our ass kicked, we need to blitz the holy shit out of them.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
hell ya....pressure leads to mistakes, and mistakes lead to INT's and INT's (should) lead to TD's, and that should put doubt and uncertainty in ANY QB's mind...manning or not...blitzing isnt an option.....its a must!
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
i just dont see bringing a new guy who is a vet...which means more money... at this point in the season. he would have alot of catching up to do. not to mention his health...is he healthy?
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Troy Vincent is a potential Godsend in my view - he worked with GW for a season apparently and knows the defense and he's a former Pro Bowl player who is healthy and ready to play. We need experienced, talented players who know the system in our secondary, at least as backups.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
if you bring him, who goes? if you have enough confidence to draft doughty, why not try him?
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Keep in mind, we do have the salary cap space available for this year. Cap space that is use it or lose it -- FOR THIS YEAR.
Signing him to a short term deal would be an extremely low risk/no risk proposition. He was cut for cap reasons by the Bills -- that was it. |

Discuss.
Yeah, too bad we have paid too much for AA to let him go now or later. Troy is really the cover guy we need in the secondary. Maybe AA was brought in strictly for his tackling ability b/c they knew we cant do anything to stop the middle. I would hope the skins are more interested in saving face and winning a few games before I get boo'd in the streets for a being a redskin fan like I have for the past 15 years. Thanks team |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
bring him in for vet minimum, 1 or 2 year deal.

I don't know who goes; it could be someone from another position conceivably. The Redskins made a mistake to not have more depth in the secondary, and this is a golden opportunity to make it up. We have to put the best team on the field in my view, and Troy Vincent is an improvement. |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
does he know the system? If so, by all means bring him in. Anything would be better than AA! HAIL from NAshville!
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
he is an upgrade from aa and wright, he has so exp. at corner too. h could be our corner
he is better than our other players |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Vincent might be our #2 corner at this point.
I would also look at Marcus Coleman who was let go by Dallas this week. |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Oh sure, bring in somebody else mid-season and let him adjust to the playbook on the fly while expecting miracles. And the fact that you can get him cheap -- you get what you overpay for.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
No, no, no. Enough change, keep what we have and work with that. The season is bad enough, no need to pay tons of money this season, it is pointless.

Change is exactly what they need right now. Shake things up and work towards some cohesiveness for next year. They need secondary help. I say bring in every guy who is available and try them out. Something has to stick. |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Carlos Rogers apparently broke his thumb today as well. Should help him catch some of those balls thrown his way now I suppose.
I think getting secondary help of any form right now is essential, especially with this latest injury. |
Re: Redskins Interested in Troy Vincent
Don't bring him in. How old is he? 50?

Troy Vincent is at Redskins Park today

Redskins Insider Troy Vincent is at Redskins Park Not sure how much it will help at this point, but saw Vincent walk in a few minutes ago. I would imagine they would get a deal done with the DB today. They got in touch with him last week and he knows several of the defensive coaches, so I would expect it to get done. Will post more when I know it. Okay, a brief interlude. Now back to the regularly scheduled grumbling and roasting ... |
Re: Troy Vincent is at Redskins Park today
If they sign him, does he play nickel or what?
|

how old? how fast?

Don't bring him in? You must be kidding me. Here's a guy with experience and ability and you'd rather pass? This is desperation time. It's not time to be picky with the way our defense has played. I would sign him and start him next week. |
