Can We Bench Brunell Now

Come how long is joe gibb going to to stick with this bum. He hurt now he has his excuse use it please. Gota love our pass defense making this guy a star.

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Let's do it, I rather have him hurt instead of Collins though.

how can collins be any worse than mark, under throwing moss again to start the half. Cant throw the ball down field

Let's see the Brunell defenders defend this piece of crap game.

With our season rapidly going into the toilet, time to groom Campbell.

Don't want to hear about last year. Our remaining schedule is brutal this year.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-15-2006 04:22 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

I don't want to hear anyone defending Brunell anymore. Brunell is inaccurate on short passes (which constitute 95% of his throws) and even more inaccurate on deep throws. He's just bad. It's about time for people to admit that Brunell officially IS a problem on offense.

We suck, Campbell time to start

RedskinRat 10-15-2006 04:23 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

If Campbell doesn't start the next game I'm going to stop watching this bullshit.

Brunell cycling through his reads like a fucking rookie.

JET 10-15-2006 04:25 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Bench Brunell? But a QB with no starting experience might have thrown a stupid interception into triple coverage to end our last chance of coming back. We can't take that kind of risk, we need a savvy vet to throw a stupid interception into triple coverage to end our last chance of coming back.

MTK 10-15-2006 04:25 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

How about we talk about benching the entire defense?

That was the real problem today if you ask me. Travis freaking Henry with a career day.

Daseal 10-15-2006 04:27 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Actually, Brunell just got outplayed by a rookie. A rookie with less talent in both the line and skill positions.

RTerps2002 10-15-2006 04:28 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

One thing is for sure I won't waste any more of my life rooting for Brunell. Gibbs has to realize that he dosen't have enough time left to be loyal.

DynamiteRave 10-15-2006 04:29 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Is playing Campbell any worse than playing Brunell? At least Campbell has fresh legs and doesn't have a noodle arm.

Might as well take a risk now.

Daseal 10-15-2006 04:29 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Matty -- the last 4 plays of that game Mark Brunell threw 3 almost interceptions, till he finally completed one to the Titans.

JGisLordOfTheRings 10-15-2006 04:29 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

fuck the whole team, sure, a lot was marks fault but we didnt even have a defense today at all.....fuck em all, offense defense special teams, coaches and the fucking COLORS!

I agree that the defense was God awful. However, Matty, it's getting pretty hard to defend Brunell. Brunell did not do anything right. He can't throw deep, he threw into the ground on 5 yard hitch routes, he threw into double and triple coverage, he wasn't getting that much pressure, he wasted timeouts in the 4th quarter due to delays of game, etc.

If Brunell had the letters R-A-M-S-E-Y on the back of his jersey and wasn't Gibbs' handpicked boy, he'd be a free agent by now. (BTW, No I am not trying to revive the Ramsey debate, I am just pointing out that Brunell is sucking big ass right now).

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-15-2006 04:34 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Brunell is playing as well this season as he did least season despite having more weapons at his disposal than any other QB in the league (TE, RB, WR, OL).

THERES NOT A SINGLE PLAYER WHO DOESENT DESERVE TO BE BENCHED AFTER THIS WEEK.... I'D THROW OUT THE DEPTH CHART ON MONDAY AND SAY "IF YOU WANT A STARTING JOB, YOU GO EARN IT".....

I swear to god if I see Mark Brunell throw another 2 yard out, I'm going to rip my eyes out. I'm so ready for Jason Campbell....this team is god awful. Were going nowhere, there is not a single reason for Brunell to be on the feild....

Super Bowl or Bust for the skins this year? LMAO; if we go 5-11 I'd be shocked

Bench his ass, bench Holdman and let our two players Cambell and McIntosh that we gave away the house for play

Defensewins 10-15-2006 04:38 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

I backed Brunnell more than anyone.
However, it is time for Campbell.
If we were .500 and the offense was at least playing respectable, I would say stick with Brunnell. However this team is not going to make the playoffs. The defense and the offense are not playing well.
It is time to build for the future and that means giving Campbell some much needed experience.

I agree strongly about Rocky McIntosh, get his ass in the game.

Didn't Gibbs say in the offseason-preseason "It's about time Campbell starts to earn his paychecks"????

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Not being able to watch the game over here, I can't comment on any individuals play, but I agree with those saying the D is losing this season for us.

However, regardless of his fitness etc. at 2-4 we have to bench Brunell and give Campbell a chance to earn the right to make this his team.

I doubt Joe will do it, at least not before the bye week.

F%#K Brunell! He F'n Sucks! Why the Hell is he still in there? Everybody jumped on his bandwagon when he set that BullSh#t record. Keep in mind out of 22 comps., 18 were of the dink and dunk variety! Whats the F#ckin point of havin all those weapons if they don't throw down the damn field? I would rather have JC playin right now and for the rest of the season! the shame of it all. I live in Nashville and I'll never hear the end of this shit! If Brunell continues to start, we can kiss the playoffs goodbye, if we haven't already! HAIL from Nashville!

Oh yeah, we're not even going to get a high 1st rounder. Remember how our brilliant front office traded for Duckett and gave up a 3rd rounder and switched 1st rounders? Brilliant move.

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Okay, the defense has been bad. I'll grant everyone that. There's absolutely no question about that. However, if you can't score 30 points against a very bad Titans football team, there's something wrong. Clinton was running fine. Mark Brunell can't make the plays a team needs to win games in the NFL. Hell, I wouldn't even have said he made them against the Texans. The only game he looked great in was the Jacksonville game. They're 2 and 4, if they lose 2 more they're outta the playoffs. They got the Colts coming off of a bye next week, that's more than likely another L. What the hell is the point of leaving Brunell in?

And also, why the fuck does Gregg Williams feel the need to have Sean Taylor playing one on one with wide receivers all the time?! He should be floating to the ball and making plays that way, not playing man coverage!

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

The defense gave the ball to the offense with enough time in both cases for at least a field goal. We squandered that. It's campbell time baby. Think of the Chunky soup commercials!

I'm not defending him, I just thought the piss poor defense was the bigger issue yet here we are again acting like switching QBs is going to solve everything. We have much bigger problems right now.

I dont think anyone expects Campbell to light the world on fire, but I think everyone sees that we have much bigger problems right now and its not getting fixed. This team is going no where and its time for Campbell to take his licks and learn how to play QB so maybe we can be good next year.

I totally agree that the defense was a HUGE problem. I also don't think that switching QBs is going to dramatically change our team's fortunes. However, it's about time to admit that Brunell is cooked and it's time to start playing for the future.

Twilbert07 10-15-2006 05:14 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

Yes, bench Brunell. Outside of the long completion to Llyod, Brunell did nothing except:

1) Waste a critical timeout in the 4th quarter because the game clock was about to expire.

2) Take a delay-of-game penalty at the Titans' 30 yard line that moved us back to the 35 and out of FG range.

3) Throw an interception to end our chances.

4) Lead us nowhere on our second-to-last drive.

He's done. We could have started 2-4 under Campbell!!

I'd say the problems with Brunell and the defense are about even. He was making un-veteran-like mistakes towards the end of the game, while being focused on Moss who was triple covered numerous times. Somebody else said it, if a rookie would make the same mistakes Brunell is making, what's the difference? It's not like he's giving us veteran leadership to win when the game is on the line. Those were desperation heaves we saw in the 4th quarter.

With the defense, we have what we have. The defensive line sucks, the secondary sucks and the linebackers are non-existant. Williams doesn't have anyone else he can replace. Gibbs on the other hand, has two options that he refuses to try.

MTK 10-15-2006 05:19 PM

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now

I'd say the D is the bigger problem. Henry had a career day and put us in the position where Brunell was forcing the issue. When a back runs for 178 on you it's tough to win no matter who your QB is. Brunell can manage the game well enough with support but the defense is a major disappointment right now and is giving us no help at all.
