Nate Clements on Trading Block

According to Fox Sports, Bills' CB Nate Clements is on the trading block. He's young, he's very good, he knows Williams' defense, and he's a great distraction from our current sorry state of affairs.

Discuss how idiotic/brilliant it would be to even consider signing this guy.

such an instigator!

maybe a good idea, maybe bad...maybe him and Vincent work well as a team..if he was cheap he'd be worth a shot i would guess....

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

If reasonable deal he could help a lot. would hate to see more picks given up, maybe they'd like duckett!

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

The Bills will probably want a 1st rounder. Moreover, Clements will likely want a new deal (as he is a FA next year). So, whoever brought this idea up is an idiot.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

Coudn't hurt to bring him in -- there's no place for this secondary to go but up.

Also, notice how the cries for Ade Jimoh seem to have died down after getting beaten for the first TD on Sunday?

Funny how that works.

Even though it is extremely unlikely that we would have any interest in the matter, I brought it up because he's such a good, young talent and we have so many problems on defense.

w/our front office its never out of the question. while i disagree w/a lot of our trades, we could really use him. If they really want to move him because they think he won't re sign, then maybe we could get him relatively cheap. Of course that's not usually how we do it.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

I'd wait until after the season when he's a free agent. If we could get him he would be Springs replacement after he retires, and Rogers could go back to being a #2.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

Springs is old and Rogers is rapidly becoming a bust. So I say why not? I would really hate to give up another pick for him but he is probably better than any CB we could get from the college ranks in April's draft.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

I don't know the possibility of this occuring, but it sounds good. I would much rather take him over Vincent, who I still think is a bad pickup.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-16-2006 05:08 PM

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

Not that we should really care, but everyone knows that we'd get blasted in the press if we traded for him.

Beemnseven 10-16-2006 05:12 PM

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

Giving up a first round pick is absolutely no obstacle for this front office -- in fact, they'd probably throw in a 2nd just to make the deal even sweeter for Buffalo.

Why don't we see what it's like going into a draft with a F#$%#*&) draft pick.

With time, you will come to know and understand the ways of the Washington Redskins front office, young one:

Has-beens, rejects, high-priced free agents = good.

1st and 2nd round draft picks = bad.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block

I think it's a good deal a proven number one corner is worth a first round pick. Look at Carlos what we got in the first round. Springs, Vincent, Clements, and Carlos, plus Falsaleta could be a worse to first scneario. We got to move fast fellas our defense stinks bad.

why is he on the block if he's so young and good? did he ever play with Jerry Gray?

sure what the hell lets trade our first rounder next yr and maybe the rest of our picks too. Why would we want to draft anyone when we could try that new thing like signing FA for 10 million, which we havent tried yet.

I'm soooo tired of mortgaging away the future for the present. It hasn't worked before, and it won't work now. I miss having draft picks. No way we should go get Clements. If we do, the Bills will smell our desperation and gouge us for more than he's worth, which I'm not sure is that much to begin with. Springs has been healthy for all of one week. And did anyone notice it was our RUN defense that got gashed this week?? Lionel Dalton smells better to me than Nate Clements....

If they want a first, sorry. I really like Nate Clements, but that's a lot to give up. If they're willing to take players and a lower rnd draft pick, then Im with it!

We'll all be sitting around on draft day crying the blues about we don't have any picks. This reminds me so much of George Allen, he never saw a draft choice he didn't trade away.(an exact replica). George traded choices he didn't even have, and now with our FO constantly in that win now mode we'll never have any draft picks of substance because they'll trade them all away.

It's the Government body that ensures the Redskins continue to suck.
