Jason Campbell
I didn't see this posted up anywhere... thought it was worth a look.
Just adding some fuel to the fire... YouTube - 2006 Jason Campbell PRE-SEASON= |
Re: Jason Campbell
throws a perfect ball and can make the ones over the middle that brunell is either too scared or just cant make the throw
|
Re: Jason Campbell
Granted, Campbell was one of few brightspots during the preseason, it WAS just the preseason. That said, I'd like him to be getting experience.
|
Re: Jason Campbell
I really think its time...its sad, but Mark doesn't have it. lets give campbell some time to see what he can do...can't be worse, maybe he sparks the team around...or perhaps it will force them to run more...
|
Re: Jason Campbell
IMO, depending the outcome of this weeks game, we lose, I would ready up Campbell for duty after the bye.........we'll see
|
Re: Jason Campbell
wait, is throwing between the numbers legal??
|
Re: Jason Campbell
I think in this situation Joe is doing the right thing...keeping brunell the starter for the Indy game. I think if Brunell goes on the road and wins that game in Indy...then he has earned the chance to continue starting against dallas. If he loses...then it will be an ideal time...going into the bye week to make the change...with cambell having two weeks to prepare for a home game...rather than less than 1 week to prepare for a road game against one of the elite teams in the NFL.
That being said. If we do lose to Indy, and Gibbs does make the change to campbell. Then i hope skins fans will allow him to go through his growing pains without starting to Booooo him every time he throws a pick. You cant have it both ways. If you put in Cambell if means preparing for the future...and so you have to be willing to sacrifice winning now. I say this because many on this site have argued for playing campbell...saying that at least we can use this year to see what we've got in campbell...and that if he doesnt work out...then we can decide accordingly to maybe go after someone else in the offseason. In my opinion that doesnt make any sense...cause i would argue that you cannot be sure about what you have in a player in his first year starting. I would give the examples of Eli Manning and more recently Alex smith, who absolutely sucked in their first years. Alex smith looked absolutely attrocious last year. And looked like an absolute bust of a 1st overall pick....but then this year is a whole different story...now he looks like a good up and coming QB . So, its not because players absolutely blow nuts on the field...in their first year that the front offices should begin drawing conclusions...and look to go after someone new in the offseason. So if we lose at indy, i hope gibbs makes the switch to campbell. And once the change is made...i think you stick with campbell, regardless of his performance, for at least this season and all of next season...without even thinking of going after another QB. Thats what it means to truly give someone a chance. I dont want to see another case of Ramsey, who comes in here and is given a bunch of half chances...before leaving town. I want campbell to be given the reigns of this offense for the long hall, so he doesnt have to constantly look over his shoulder...and can just focus on playing and getting better. |

Re: Jason Campbell
i guarantee no one would boo Campbell for being a rookie in light of the other "more experienced" QBs on the roster.
|
Re: Jason Campbell
damnit I didn't want to make this in the main forum... is there any way it can be just in the film room and not all out and about...
not trying to cause an eyesore... but oh well |
Re: Jason Campbell
Rob, why are you apologizing. this is far from an eyesore, it's a relief.
eyesores would be the "highlights" of the last two games. |
Re: Jason Campbell
Well, for future reference, is there a way to post in the film room without posting on the main page?
If not, then ef it. |

Bottom of the Page http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-film-room/
Use the link for New Post. Don't beat yourself up man. |
Re: Jason Campbell
I swear I did that... it even says film room on the side of the Main page...

Hey man, apparently that was enough for Gibbs to know Ramsey couldn't get it done. |
Re: Jason Campbell
well, i wouldnt say thats FUEL to add to the fire...more like fucking throwing gasoline on the "fuck brunell, start campbell" fire...lol
|

Re: Jason Campbell
I am 99.999999999% certain that, if Brunell gets benched, you will see Todd Collins.
You won't see Campbell this year. |
Re: Jason Campbell
i semi agree. but why are you so certain?
|

Hmmmm, does Gibbs make decisions for the Giants as well? Interesting, seems he cannot cut it there as well. Aren't all you Ramsey homers gettin' tired of this..............swill? |

Oh yeaaaaaa, the other Giants! thanx for the redirect

i agree irish....that is what gibbs has said...they got collins just so that if Brunell gets hurt, they have a QB who knows the system to finish the game and JC would start the following week.... |
Re: Jason Campbell
super accurate on deep balls... kinda guns the short stuff :/. look at him in the SEC championship game or whatnot, good stuff. i'd really like to see if he can play in the nfl.
|
Re: Jason Campbell
i just dont know what they are thinking( the skins brain trust) you give up a few draft picks to get JC and you dont play him after two years of watching. that makes as much sense as trading a 3rd round pick for someone just to keep them from a divison opponet. can someone say tj duckett. we need campbell to play and duckett. does anyone else smell that...>? it smells of the 2000 season. all hype and no results.

Re: Jason Campbell
forget jason campbell, we need to go after chad henne, a real qb, campbell showed nothing in preseason. Just stares down receivers and throws innaccurately

I think one thing we can be certain about Campbell is that he's an accurate passer. I don't doubt for one second his physical abilities as a QB. Look at his college career... He throws the ball perfectly. He's one of the most accurate passers out there. What's in question is his ability to make a fast release (looked a little slow) and the right read. Once he gets those two things... which may or may not happend, then he'll be good to go. |
Re: Jason Campbell
I couldn't care less about his release! As long as the ball gets there on time, that's fine with me. Look at Byron Leftwich. His release is slow, but he has a freakin' cannon! As does Campbell! HAIL from MCUSA!

Accuracy? from what ive seen, his deep throws are pretty on point and he has LEGS! HOLY SHIT! QBS CAN RUN!?!?!?!? WHAT A FUCKING NOVEL CONCEPT??? Brunell has lulled us into the notion that all QB's look like Frankenstein at certain points in their life but from the videos of JC that I saw....the boy has never heard of Halloween............ |

what games were you watching? |
Re: Jason Campbell
yeah chad henne is really the answer. UMMMM NOT! Play campbell to much invested in him not to. We need to see what JC has. another young qb just what we need.
|
Re: Jason Campbell
in all reality, it may be better offensively if campbell plays. We will be forced to shorten the playbook a little and forced to run the ball more. With his strong and accurate arm, a little play action down the field from time to time could get us some big plays.
|
Re: Jason Campbell
If Campbell is so promising, why isn't he in.......oh yeah, saunders doen't like him cause he doesn't fit his offense. Byron Leftwich throws deep balls to talented receivers on 3rd down after two running plays on 1st and 2nd. Leftwich threw the ball 90% of the time at Marshall, Campbell rellied on running game and solid defense at Auburn. I agree, Campbell has talent, but he musn't be a very quick learner if we haven't seen him once in two years. What was required of him at Auburn compared to the NFL is too much of a transition especially in a complicated offense. Campbell should not have been the guy drafted if we knew in advance that we would hire Al Saunders.
Chad Henne was just a suggestion, I am a huge advocate of investing in a franchise QB, and Campbell doesn't seem to be that. |
Re: Jason Campbell
we invested two draft picks for Campbell ... let's at least see what he can do in a game (a season really), before we dismiss him. how can you say he isn't a franchise QB, or the QB of the future? ... you haven't seen him play!
let's be more levelheaded, and not so impulsive |
Re: Jason Campbell
Impulsive is always looking to the backup QB, Smart is looking at the big picture. I agree we need to play campbell, but there is no sign that he is the answer.
I did not see the "swagger" that you look for in a qb when campbell played in preseason. |
Re: Jason Campbell
I would love to see JC be our qb of the future...
However, from all of the info coming from players on the team he is not ready/comfortable in the system etc. They are the ones along w/ the coaches that should know. For example, on the John Riggins show they have had on Sellers & Lloyd recently who have said Brunell is our guy. If he should go down, then its Collins that should play, not JC. I'm paraphrasing here of course. They said JC is improving....etc etc. Now if we rewind to our draft, alot of pro scouts were suprised at how high JC went. I heard from a couple that said JC is a long long way from being a nfl qb. They called him a "project." Lots of scouts have been wrong before and let's hope they are wrong about JC. So as much as i would like to see JC step in work a miracle, i just don't see that happening. I do trust the coaches on this one. I just don't think we have any better alternative besides MB at this point. Time will tell if our scouting dept dropped the ball on this one. |
Re: Jason Campbell
Zim, he's not in because Gibbs won't pull the trigger! Are you smokin', if so give me some! JC is the best freakin' option we have at QB! The only option! He hasn't been given the opportunity! How can you say he is not the answer! I know one thing, he's not the problem, and that's for damn sho! Dare I play the "RACE CARD" here? I've really held my tongue on that one! HAIL from MCUSA!
