What is missing from this years team?
Swagger is the answer, last year when the skins killed dallas we all knew we would kill the nyg, phi and tampa in the playoffs. We also held the believe that we could beat the seahawks. This year when we looked at the schedule we thought we would in easily 10 games and even the possibility of 12. We looked at the schedule when it first came out and counted the easy wins. Before the season it reminded me of past seasons under gibbs when we knew as fans that the skins were good and that we could count on wins. I mean we would go to games and know that the skins would win. It happened last year and most of us out there thought this would be understandable that we would win alot of games. The swagger of the fans came back and then left too quickly. Is there anyone out there think the skins can go to the playoffs. I still do i believe we can go as a 9-7 or 10-6 team!! Let me know what you think?

Re: What is missing from this years team?
Off season moves are never perfect. But on balance, the additions that were made were pretty good. I think Carter is improving, and could still turn out to be a solid pickup, but the jury is still out.
Arch is the big bust so far. Hey, even Gibbs is calling him out in public. Having only one real bust out of all those moves is pretty solid. I was on record saying this in the spring: We needed to make a move to improve our situation at QB. The possible scenarios were: ~Brunell improves from last year. ~Brunell gets hurt or devolves from last year and we end up with a QB who has yet to fire his first NFL pass in anger. ~Brunell sucks and we stick with him. |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
You get swagger by winning. I think if Portis had played in that opening game, we would have won, and we'd have had some momentum going. Thus far, we thought we had some going against Jacksonville, but found they were the team to get DESTROYED by the Texans.

Re: What is missing from this years team?
Maybe we need a uniform change. You should start a thread about that.

Don't say things like that to him. |

Re: What is missing from this years team?
Winning will usually bring on a "swagger".
Has anyone ever seen a 2-14 team with swagger?? C'mon now. |

What is missing from this years team? Players!!!!! |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
What's missing? Experience with the system and a win-loss record that more accurately reflects the effort put forth by most of these players.

Re: What is missing from this years team?
We are missing A GOOD QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What is missing from this years team?
Swagger is the result of success, not the cause of success.

Re: What is missing from this years team?
Mabye he's talking about the pyschological component of winning. There is definitly a "winners attitude", but personally I don't buy that we don't have it. Players are trying to win, I mean for christ's sake Joe Gibbs is our coach.
Defensive depth is what we were missing, and injuries have exposed this horribe horrible flaw. We're really not terrible on offense, and if our defense played like last year, we may be sitting much more comfortably in standings. On a random side note, I saw a black bear in my back yard last night. Scared the shit out of me. He was eating something and my neighboor started banging pots and pans at him. He just looked over and kept eating. I went into to the woods and saw a deer carass with big pile of crap next to it. I'm scared now, but year... random. |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
Did the big pile of crap look anything like Brunell? I keed, I keed.
|
Re: What is missing from this years team?
chemistry, health, stability, an offensive scheme and playcalling that are in tune with the actual talent and capabilities of the players on the roster...
|
Re: What is missing from this years team?
At least we're not missing washed-up players!!!
The Redskins' rivals in the NFC East -- the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys -- have stockpiled young talent. The Redskins, meanwhile, have stockpiled veterans on the downside of their careers. Their opening day roster consisted of players with an average age of 27.83, the highest in the NFL. |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
I think the Redskins are a group of older players that have already got there big contact and most of them, not all of them, but most of them just go through the motions every Sunday because they know that they already made there big money. Portis & Moss go all out every game on offense on defense I have a hard time coming up with anyone that seems to be playing consistently this year. Marcus Washington hasn't been the player he was over the last few years and this was supposed to be his breakout year with Arrington gone. Sean Taylor just goes for the big hit every play not like Troy Polumalu of the Steelers who is all over the field making plays. I think it comes down to a lot of spoiled players who make way to much money.

The interesting thing about kidwell is he starts a bunch of threads, and never responds back.
He is like a tornado, leaving a path of destruction, and never coming back. |

Portis, Moss, Cooley, El, Lloyd (and I'll throw Campbell in here) are all 25 or younger right? |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
We can also include discipline (or lack thereof) to the equation as well. That's something I never thought I would say about a Joe Gibbs coached team.

Re: What is missing from this years team?
A sure fire way to exterminate the "injury bug"!

i think lloyd is 26 and moss and randle-el are 27... and thrash is 31 and patten is like 32 i believe. 26+27+27+31+32 = 143 / 5 = 28.6 average WR age. |
Re: What is missing from this years team?
list of guys that are 25 or under:
QB: campbell RB: portis, duckett WR: TE: cooley OL: molinaro DL: boschetti, golston, montgomery LB: mcintosh CB: rodgers FS: taylor, doughty SS: K: Novack P: Frost that's 4/22 starters and 2 crappy kickers. (14/53 roster spots). for comparision, the eagles have 26 players age 25 or less, including their 4/5 WRs, 7/10 OL, and 7/22 starters. |
