Where is Ramsey?

Are all these people calling for Campbell the same people that wanted to get rid of Ramsey. Ramsey has been the answer for years. He could have done better than Brunell up to now.

Ramsey never got a fair shake here, in my opinion. I still wonder what the state of our team would be if he didnt take that shot from Lance Briggs to knock him out for a series.

I loved and still love Ramsey, I dont know why. I still don tthink he had the fairest of shots here.

I agree. The Skins also shattered any confidence in the kid as well.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Gibbs never gave Ramsey a fair shot. Gibbs had his mind set on Brunell from day one. When Gibbs returned instead of bringing in Brunell and all these other FA. Gibbs should have played Ramsey in 2004 and see what Ramsey had that year and what kind of team he had. Instead of trading draft pick and signing everybodies over price players.

SmootSmack 11-02-2006 09:45 PM

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Gibbs owed Ramsey nothing.

Ramsey can't even crack the top two with the Jets

If he's so emotionally fragile that he can't handle QB competition then he doesn't belong in the league (for the record I think he handles it well, I don't understand why so many people want to act like he's the kid who gets picked last in recess so his mom talks to the principal about "why doesn't Timmy get to play more"

I have no issue with Ramsey the person. But as a player, he had a chance to put so much distance between himself and Brunell last offseason and pre-season and he didn't

I can't believe I got sucked into talking about this topic again. I'm done with it.

CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 11-02-2006 10:09 PM

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Never said he owed Ramsey anything especially since i guess Gibbs owes everything to Brunell for saving his life. In 2004 Ramsey outplayed Brunell and should have been given more than a quarter in the regular season last year. Especially how poorly Brunell played at the end of last season killing us in the playoffs by his piss poor play. Ramsey would have given the skins a chance against seattle. Brunell was terrible in the playoffs almost costing us the tampa game by his typical rookie mistakes with that interception late in the fourth quarter. The seattle game he miss open reciever and had moss for a touchdown and threw the ball out of bounds near the end zone. His only td against seattle should have been a interception but was deflected for a touchdown. Gibbs never gave Ramsey a fair shot and all honest redskins fans know this. And unfortually Gibbs is throwing away this season like he did in 2004 for his man love for Brunell again since the old man cant get it done. Everyone one can see that Brunell cant play in the league but Gibbs. Remember what SI said about Brunell from a scout, I cant believe this guy{Brunell} is still in the league he cant throw two good passes in a row.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Ramsey is 3rd string in New York. He couldn't beat out noodle arm Pennington and a rookie. Enough said.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

I hope that Campbell has the gun Ramsey had, but a little mobility and I hope we don't ruin him by letting him get killed his first year in. I know PR held the ball too long, but Spurrier didn't exactly make pass protection a priority either...

CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 11-02-2006 10:32 PM

Re: Where is Ramsey?

i would take pennington over the lip noodle arm qb we have here. Pennington actually throws the ball over the line of scrimmage not like our mr shuffle or screen pass or dump off the rb brunell to keep his stat. Brunell stats come when the game is a blow out and the other team let him dump the ball off and can get a late td like the indy game, or get most of his yardage like he did in the dallas game after it was out of hand. Heaven forbid that Brunell ever step up in the damn pocket instead of backing up like he does every freaking time.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

brunell over pennington any day...

I cant say I even base that on pure skill or anything, but he's always been a whiney little turd. My wife went to school with him and he was a self-righteous punk. Anyone remember the interview he did a couple of years ago after he threw like 3 picks in a game? About how much of a privelege it was to cover the Jets and he just wouldn't shut the fuck up....

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Oh boy my kind of thread, nice to see guy's finally coming to thier senses, as I said when we released him we will regret dumping him for this season.

Whether or not he's doing anything for the Jets is irrelevant, he's better than anyone we have right now.

As far as Brunell outplaying Ramsey? What did Brunell ever do in pre season to set him aside from Ramsey other than praise from Gibbs? The same kind of praise we heard after the Colt game, and every other debacle for that matter, you would have thought Brunell set the field on fire the way some people carry on about his pre- seasons, he did nothing note worthy, and he did it under different circumstances in the pre-season as well. Ramsey was treated like a red headed step child by Gibbs. After watching and listening to Gibbs the last 2 plus seasons I would't trust a thing he say's, if you forget he was a 3 time SB champ, then he would be in the process of being torn apart by this board and every other one as well like a school of piranhas, Gibbs is getting by on reputation and reputation alone right now.

Say what you want about Ramsey and whether or not you think he can play, we all know Brunell can't, Ramsey deserved a real chance even if he eventually failed, I am not saying he needs to fail as much as Brunell, but he deserved a real shot, especially after he beat Brunell out the previous season, I guess we couldn't expect Ramsey to grow and get better with playing time? Unlike a proven winner in Brunell, I wonder what Gibbs big time gut feeling is telling him now?

Funny we keep hearing excuse after excuse for Campbell and his 6 different systems in 6 years, yet I didn't hear Gibbs cutting Ramsey that kind of slack, it's not like Ramsey wasen't thrown to the wolves. Yup everyone knows Ramsey will never pan out, funny I heard the same things about Drew Brees, he was in a bigger dog house than Ramsey. Further more almost everyone on this board was behind Ramsey 100% when Gibbs came back on board, and everyone was shocked that he went after Brunell, reason? we all saw Ramsey excel in SS system when he had more than 2 seconds to throw, and figured Gibbs would turn him into a pro-bowler, well the only thing Ramsey did wrong since then was not being the apple of Gibbs eye. Gibbs wanted Brunell and no one else regardless, and Ramsey was pushed aside. But turn about is fair play because Gibbs failure this go round is partly due to his inability to judge as well as utilize talent, and a delusion that Brunell is something more than what he is.

Well sunday we are going to recieve a royal A** kicking by the Boy's, hopefully Gibbs will wave to the fans in the parking lot, it is a long walk from the parking lot to thier seats in the stadium, that kind of loyalty, and effort to watch a butt shalacking of a 2-5 team shouldn't go unacknowleged.

Pointless thread.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

I love the blind Ramsey supporters. They rant on and on about unfairness and how we ruined him. Where's the same outcry for Heath Shuler and Gus Frerotte and even Jay Schroeder whom once played great but lost something and could never get it back? Didn't we ruin these guys too by having the audacity to play them?

Anyone remember Warren Moon? Guy put up Hall of Fame numbers in the Run and Shoot or as Buddy Ryan called it, "the chuck and duck". If you can't handle getting hit and being shuffled in and out of the lineup then you are too fragile to be a QB in the NFL. In addition Ramsey holds the ball too long and has zero touch.

I would much rather have Campbell in there making mistakes than Ramsey, at least there would be hope for the future. The question is when do we get Campbell?

Warren Moon played more seasons NOT in the run n shoot than in it. That ain't the reason he's in the Hall. Greatest professional football QB ever. Over 70 thousand passing yards. I know he played in the CFL, but damn that's a lot of yards! Enough with this Bull shit, put in CAMPBELL DAMN IT!

I can't remember Gibbs making a mistake since his return. He made the QB switch away from Brunell when he needed to. I might agree with you that he took away Ramsey's last chance to become a QB in this offense, but based on past history, there was no reason to assume he would. Anyway, he brought back Brunell and the offense improved greatly, and we ended up in the playoffs. I would have never made the decision to bring Brunell back after 2004 unless I was there at practice and saw vast improvement...like someone like Gibbs was. I think sometimes he gets too conservative on 4th downs sometimes, but outside of that stylistic 'flaw', if you will, Gibbs has yet to make a bad decision on his return.

Basically, Ramsey was a player projected to be very average, and he played very average. He only would have been a star if Gibbs decided that his system could make him a star, and based on what happened, I think it's safe to say Gibbs made the right decision to bring back Brunell. He's been a top 12 passer in the NFL since 2005 and thats really all you can ask for.

As for Gibbs, since he came back, he's had two trys to get a franchise that had struggled over the past 5 years or so back to the playoffs, and he did once. Whether or not he gets them back there this season should have no bearing on the fact that he got them to the playoffs last year, against all odds.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

Moon could put up the yards. He had a real bad habit of throwing it to the wrong color in clutch situations.

Re: Where is Ramsey?

you can't ignore the similarities between the ramsey and campbell situations. They are both not in there for the same reason, turnovers. Too bad our offensive 3 and outs are just as bad as turnovers. Gibbs wouldnt put in ramsey unless brunell got hurt, same thing with campbell.
