Did anyone See!
Ok did anyone watch the NFL network tonight about the Leftwich situation? (I should be doing my hw so I can remain elgible lol) But If #9 plays well this weekend we could be talking about Leftwich in Washington in the offseason! THATS WHAT THEY SAID I had to use Tivo to make sure I heard that right!!!! WOAH...But if so Poor Jason Campbell...On a side note...Im disgusted with the play of that punk (and sapp called him one too!) tonight a knee shot to the balls is an illegal move even in Full contact Karate...So what do u think the NFL Feels about it!!?!?!?
|
Re: Did anyone See!
Pure speculation at this point. The media loves to put any big name in D.C.
|
Re: Did anyone See!
I think that would be the craziest thing ever for Leftwhich to replace Brunell again. It wont happen though. I will officially call Gibbs a retard if something like that happens. The only way it happens is if the start playing Campbell and he shows a complete inability to function. Then maybe they find a vet to come in. I wonder if this is Brunell's last year?
|
Re: Did anyone See!
i was aware that the NFL feels.
and i wouldn't give too much thought to stupid rumors. leftwich probably isn't the answer. he's hometown, but he's inconsistent. |
Re: Did anyone See!
not gonna happen b/c of campbell

Why not? There is a reason JC isnt playing and it because he's not ready. Other more inexperienced QBs are playing and playing well but JC stays on the bench because he's still not ready. I think JC has maybe 1 more year as a skin and then they are going to have to make a decision about whether or nat thay made a big mistake giving up so much for him. In the meantime Gibbs loves vets and BL is a solid vet. I can see the skins getting BL. |
Re: Did anyone See!
Campbell would have to be a complete disaster in order for them to bring in another starter. I don't see that happening.
|
Re: Did anyone See!
This is crazy. But at this point I really woulden't be shocked. I mean, think about it. We move up to draft a guy in the first round two years ago, coach him up, and then never EVER let him play. I'mm pretty sure that Mark is done after this year and with that said, why don't we keep Redskins tradition and sign Kerry Collins and cut campbell.
I love Brunell but sometimes I wish he would get a minor injury (very minor) I don't wish pain a suffering on anyone. But then maybe just MAYBE then Campbell would get some playing time and at least have a CHANCE to do well. |
Re: Did anyone See!
I think at this point the coaches see JC as closer to disaster than starter.

Based on what? I know that some people think that because he's sat for a year and a half that must mean he's garbage, but Gibbs is known for bringing his QBs along pretty slowly, so it's really not that much of a surprise. |

i think its been written in stone that this is Brunell's last year. Can you reasonably expect Campbell to remain content for another year on the pine? we bench him another year, and he will depart as soon as his contract allows... as for leftwich, i'm a fan of his arm, but do we really need a QB that moves slower than Brunell? |

Re: Did anyone See!
Fox Pregame said that Gibbs said Campbell would be ready to start in 2-3 years
Which to me either proves he royally fucked up getting Campbell, or he thinks Brunell will be around that long. Either way, if this proves true I won't be happy. |

Couldn't be further from the truth...Gibbs would sit Campbel for 5 years if him and Brunel were any younger. He likes veterans...always has. This has nothing to do with Campbel's potential shortcummings. |

It's got to be 2-3 years from the start of his career, which seemed to be the plan all along. |

I dont know if JC is good or bad (I'm not watching practice) but Gibbs et al do watch and so far he has shown them he's not ready yet. Like I said, lots of less experienced QBs have shown enough to become starters ahead of shakey vets, JC aint one of them. |

Coming out of college he was considered to be a bit of a project that could benefit by sitting a while, couple that with Gibbs' history of sticking with vets to the bitter end and bringing young QBs along slowly and it all makes logical sense if you ask me. |

Gibbs is also the guy that said we scouted Desmond Howard and saw no flaws. College and pro are entirely different (as you well know) and because a player is highly regarded coming out of college is no guarantee he will work out in the pros. |
Re: Did anyone See!
campbell wasn't that highly regarded ;)
he javelined short/mid passes the way ramsey threw EVERYTHING... however, the touch on his deep balls was crazy good in college, and he's a little bit of a runner too. |

Please share with us where you get your information about Jason Campbell not being ready to play. I'm only asking because I haven't see or heard it anywhere other than from people who don't know what they're talking about. |
Re: Did anyone See!
gibbs has said time and time again that jason could start if needed and i'll take his word over IRISH any day. also jc is in his 6th offense in 6 years and gibbs wants to make sure that jc understands every nook and cranny of it before he throws him to the fire. right now i do believe that brunell gives us the best chance to win because he has somewhat of a 'hot hand'.
gibbs has named brunell the starter on the bases of he knows how he plays and reacts to situations. plus what matty said about gibbs staying with a qb to the end is soo true and this is no different. anyway the point is that byron will not come here b/c of campbell. campbell has a leg up on any qb that washington would bring in just for the fact that he knows the offense. the only qb i could see washington bringing in would be trent green. i say that b/c his team is doing good without him and he and saunders know each other. maybe saunders would want him back? |

I got my info from gibbs. I heard him say that MB gives the team the best chance to win. That means JC is not ready to play. The coaches of any team will never tell the whole truth because they dont want to tip their hand. |
Re: Did anyone See!
I don't want Leftwich. Not just because of Campbell either. Byron's a great athlete but he's fragile! He's ALWAYS getting hurt.

If something happens during the game then Collins will come in. Again it doesnt sound like somebody who's ready to play. I find it really funny that MB and "hot hand" can even be mentioned in the same sentence. |

Let's see... We're finally ready to begin the Campbell era after YEARS of preparation and training for the day...and we bench Campbell for a veteran QB who doesn't know the system and can't complete a full season. Campbell's confidence AND trusting of the coaching staff would be crushed, although he DOES seem like the kind of guy who would keep it to himself for the team's sake. Leftwich starts the season and gets hurt. Campbell replaces him...NOT as the QB of the future, but as the guy they don't really want to play (in his mind). GREAT PLAN. :pffff: |
Re: Did anyone See!
BRUNELL HAS A HOT HAND
he is having his best season as a pro in all 4 major categories. dont believe me? look it up |
BRUNELL HAS A HOT HAND

Re: Did anyone See!
oh yea? he is my mvp candidate.
i keeed again |
Re: Did anyone See!
sorry, guess i missed the sarcasm amongst my hate-mongering. :(

Re: Did anyone See!
F it let ARE start a QB next year. Campbell is pretty fast maybe he can be a receiver.
|
Re: Did anyone See!
there is no way a first rounder would wait 2-3 from now to get an opportunity to play. I doubt young JC will be will ing to not start next year...if he comes into camp next year without it being his job to lose, i think he demands to be traded.
i would. |
Re: Did anyone See!
if campbell doesnt start next year, chances are he cant play in this league. and no way to leftwich. always hurt

I'm guessing next season JC will be taking over the reigns. If he's not at that point, then we can start worrying about Campbell or bust. |
Re: Did anyone See!
BRUNELL HAS A HOT HAND
he is having his best season as a pro in all 4 major categories. dont believe me? look it up
I know MB is having his best season (stats-wise) as a pro. That said the only stat that counts is the record and this team is down low in that stat. Most of MBs stats are padded dink passes (especially from the Hou game). |

The last time the question was put to Gibbs he said they think the world of Jason Campbell, and also said he thinks he can win games for us now. Where this idea that Campbell is not ready came from I have no idea, but it's pure conjecture and time to be laid to rest. No one in the Redskins organization has made that statement. The only reason he's not playing is because Gibbs is enamoured with Brunell and will not make a change until he absolutely has too, and knowing Gibbs, we understand that whether we like it/accept it or not. |
Re: Did anyone See!
I like it. Another high-priced signing of an injury prone, inconsistent QB. He'd fit right in.
|
I don't want Leftwich. Not just because of Campbell either. Byron's a great athlete but he's fragile! He's ALWAYS getting hurt.
I wouldn't characterize Leftwich as a great athlete, he's a tall, accurate passer in the mold of a young Drew Bledsoe. He has far less mobility than even Brunell at this stage, so you had better resurrect the old Hogs if you're planning on putting a statue behind center. Campbell brings far more to the table in terms of raw athleticism. I say give the kid a chance before bringing in yet another vet. Gibbs's handling of the QB situation since his return leaves ALOT to be desired. |
Re: Did anyone See!
Go ahead and sign Leftwich. All the Skins need is another over-rated, over-priced free agent that will finally play his way to the bench. Has anyone noticed how the Adam Achuletta experiment has failed. Troy Vincent has only been with the team a few weeks and he has already taken over Arch's starting job and relegated Arch to team specialist (suicide squad and situational quasi-linebacker-safety). Oh, and by the way, throw in a few draft picks, the Skins don't need those either.
HAS ANYONE SEEN T.J. DUCKETT LATELY? Where was he when the Skins floundered 8 goal line attempts? |
Re: Did anyone See!
2-3 years is just stupid. Let's face it. Gibbs still has not adjusted to today's NFL. In today's NFL YOU DO NOT GIVE UP 2 #1 PICKS ON A QB AND SIT HIM FOR TWO YEARS. That is why the team sucks. Two number one's invested on someone who is on the bench. Along with two #2's on Rocky M. But who's counting?
