F "Dead Fish" Handshakes

I wanted to get in on the F craze! What up with people who shake your hand like their own is some dead fish flapping around? Are you one of those?

A firm handshake isn't too much to ask for, is it?

And on the other side I hate it when some guy tries to break your hand.

There needs to be a firm middle ground. They should teach this at a young age.

Actually, one day, when I was about 10 or 11, my Dad sat me down and said "Son, it's time you learned how a man shake hands and this is why its important to do it right". He practiced with me, making sure I didn't deadfish or crush, for about half an hour all the while telling me why it was important for a man to have a good, solid handshake. I remember feeling pretty damn grown up.

Just one of those small "Dad" things I'm grateful for.

My boss has one of those limp wristed handshakes. The first time I met him I thought of the movie "LIFE" with Eddie Murray and Martin Lawrence.

"Your hands nice and soft, supple, like a lady!"

Thats why I call him "Jingaling"!

Shouldn't this me merged with the F...Metrosexuals thread?

Re: F "Dead Fish" Handshakes

This is just a Catholic thing I think... but anyone ever in church during "our father" when you've got to hold hands....

I usually have an obnoxious family member to the right, and then just a random innocent bystander to the left....

The family member will try and be a clown and crush my hand... and I've got to fight back... so I squeeze back, and inadvertantly squeeze the person to my lefts hand.... man thats embarrasing....

plus I'm always afraid I have sweaty hands...

I'm Catholic too, but I refuse to hold anyone else's hand. I don't know when that tradition started because I know that wasn't the norm when I was a kid, but either way, it doesn't fly with me.

If someone gives me a limp handshake, they might as well go ahead and smack me on the ass because that's probably what he's thinking.

I have two 12s and a 1000-watt amp baby.

Girls have lady lumps. I have Malcolm mounds.

I probably should get those checked out.

Re: F "Dead Fish" Handshakes

I agree, there has to be a middle ground as Matty stated earlier. I also can't stand it when someone wipes their hand on their pants or something and then extends their hand for a shake...screw that, where the hell has that hand been that you had to wipe it off????

TheMalcolmConnection 11-09-2006 02:31 PM

Re: F "Dead Fish" Handshakes

Yeah, when someone wipes their hand off and then extends it to me, they might as well shit on me because that's probably what they're thinking anyway.

this is a pet peeve of mine, also. this post makes me feel good, becuse when my son turned 10, i did the same thing with my son. there is nothing worse than shaking a mans hand, and getting a wet noodle in return
