Fire Gregg Williams and Al Saunders
This is the worst defense I have ever seen, the Redskins, put on the field. I cant believe the terrible decsions that have been made on personel. I have never felt good about Williams system. It always seemedto me that we were vulnerable to the big play. We just got lucky in many cases like we did against the Cowgirls.

Lets just fire everyone

As far as Saunders goes, I dont like how much bull shit they run, either.

Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Good grief....can we fire fans?
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
how bout changing a couple key positions on the field FIRST, before firing the whole organization?
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Dude....why are you posting multiple threads under the same title. Stick to one thread...
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
chris36 you should get fired...
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
NO WAY! Gregg Williams' system worked pretty well last year...it just that this year we don't have the DBs to allow a blitz!
Al Saunders' offense also cannot be learned overnight! It takes time and it has been proven if you look at the KC Chiefs' offensive history. And that was without superstar receivers like we're supposed to have. |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
I dont like the big corner theory and I am pissed that we are stuck with Archuleta. Sorry for the second post, it was an accident.
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
No, don't. Play better with what ya got. We are underachieving across the board (well, maybe the D has come back to reality after over-achieveing, but whatever). These are good coaches. Changing coaches, especially Saunders, in his first year and playing with a weak-ass QB, only causes more turmoil.
We aren't going to fix this with Danny's checkbook or a quick-fix firing. It's going to take some serious work, I'm afraid. I feel like the offense with a real QB can do some damage. THe D may need a few new bodies, but we know the they can play better (they have in the past). We just don't seem to beleive we can win, and when everyone sees MB go out there and throw the -9 yard pass, you can see why. It's demoralizing across the board. |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Merge--exactly the same thread title. Don't know who went first. Everyone is making bad plays today, even here on the warpath! ;)

Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
I don't think there's a reason to come out and start firing coaches. However, Brian Mitchell made an interesting point on Redskins Post Game Live. He said that it's time for Gibbs to start laying into guys. He said he was sick of hearing Gibbs blame losses on himself when the team's not playhing well and are making bonehead mistakes. He shared a story about one time when he showed up late to a meeting: Gibbs said, "You're a man now. If you wanna remain on this team you'll start showing up."
I agree. I don't think Gibbs is holding these guys as accountable as he should be. He needs to start pulling guys or screaming at them when they mess up. I don't think this nice guy routine works when you have a whole bunch of guys who think they are stars. Stop coddling this team and start kicking some ass...oh yeah...and bench Mark Brunell! |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
lets see what saunders can do with a different qb who he trusts (campbell, or even collins at this point) we know he trusts collins at least

At least you didn't throw a 70 yard INT for a touchdown! Or a minus-9 yard pass. Then you'd be in trouble here! ;) |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
This has nothing to do with Gregg Williams or Al Saunders. It is the damn players, Gregg Williams did not bite on the pass to Stallworth, he didn't design a defense that allowed a freak ass fumble for another big score. Al Saunders does not throw the ball 3-7 yards 90% of the time, he did not throw the ball to Lito Sheppard for another score. Get off the coaches as the problem both proven coordinators.

Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Hey, I agree with benching Brunnel at this point, but he rarely throws interceptions. The offensive line was awful. I am suprised he only threw one interception.

He rarely throws interceptions because he's always, always, throwing high percentage passes. The same mentallity can be attributed to Brunell being one of the least sacked QBs in the league. He dumps the ball off quick. Stats in this case mean nothing. |

Chris, you are an r-tard. This thread should be in thread hell.

Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
I think our D has played better the last couple of games. Eagles are #1 in the NFL. we held them pretty good the whole game. two big plays on offense, one of which was a fluke and they have 3 points. the pick cost us a TD. I think our D is coming around. we held them under 100 yards rushing until right at the end of the game.
I am sick of watching this offense week in and week out. We need 9 yards and we throw a 3 yard dump off to the back. I am sick of watching hand offs to randel el, screens on 3rd and long. it is absolutely ridiculous to do the sorry shit we do week in and week out. the talent is on the field and the crap we call is mind boggling. Duckett comes in and runds 12 yards and 5 yards on two carries, and then he is back on the bench. I think he is what will give us the opportunity to run the ball down hill and win games. (if portis is out for a while) bring on Campbell. |

In fairness, Brunell does check down more than necessary. But, many of the plays they ran today don't have downfield options. Like the swing pass to Betts which they ran against Dallas for a first down on the first drive last week and called several times today. There are no other receivers on that play that you can try get the ball to. Cooley is just setting a pick. Ditto the slant on 3rd and 10. Brunell can wait for the receiver to get further up the field, but as the Madden afficianados will understand, a slant has a definite window that is quickly closed by the safety. If you know your quarterback has a propensity to look short, then call plays that don't have short options. They should have been protecting with seven and sending everyone else down the field. I believe they call it a 989. If no one is open downfield, Fauria or Sellars or Betts can then let their man go and try to bail Brunell out. This is called flair control. It gives the play options and it's simple. Saunders' style seems to put all the money on one number. He seems to think that he can guess which skill player is going to make the BIG PLAY on THIS PLAY. Impossible. In addition, the runs they call are so scatter-shot and un-related that they add up to nothing. Last year when we got 80 yards rushing in a half, the other team was in trouble because it meant they were being worn down and the cumulative affect was devestating. Today we had around 80 yards in the first half, but it didn't matter because a) it led to no TDs and b)the style of the runs are not demoralizing. When you run the same basic play over and over again and still get first downs, the other team starts to quit. Saunders won't do that. |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Hey, the Redskins defense played horrible. Greg Williams is directly responsible for that. Joe Gibbs has give him free rain, with personnel and the play book. The players that he brought have not done a whole lot. Carlos Rogers was his choice. He has even managed to make Taylor look bad. As far as Saunders goes, I think it is personnel. The combination of the OL play bad, combined with a medicore quarterback.
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
I dont think I could endorse firing either one, but Chris36 has a point.
|
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Firing Gregg Williams is insane.

Williams didn't make Taylor bite on a double-move or grab a facemask. |

So why did you start a thread calling for Saunders' firing? |
Re: Fire Gregg Williams and Al Suanders I
Williams' D was great last season. It should have been at the very least good this season, so what's changed?
LB coach. Ryan Clark gone. I don't see how firing Williams would help. Maybe the LB coach and figuring out how to use AA (as we are stuck with him) and making the CB's play a little closer to the man. Seeing Rogers giving his WR a ten yard cushion on a short yardage down makes me want to :vomit: That HAS to be a coaching decision, not #22's. Keep it up Chris36, you're proving yourself with every post. :iamwithst |

And Brunell rarely does anything to win a game. He led us to 3 points and gave the Eagles 7. The defense played poorly, but when we were behind, there was no way Brunell was going to get us back into the game. Alas, all he did was seal the deal with his TD pass to the wrong team. |

Who is Al Suanders I? Is he related to Louis XIV? Henry VIII? John Thompson III?

I believe these guys view Gibbs as a players coach and they lack a sense of urgency because they know their coach is going to cover for them week in and week out when their performance leaves a lot to be desired. It may be time he took a different approach, providing it's not too late already. |

I think this game goes to reinforce this post. Fire them both, put Joe in charge of the offense and hire Pettibone to run the defense.

please shuttup. We have been doing what you have been suggesting. Constantly changing people who run the team. Please just take my advice and stop.
