George Michael reported on News 4 that Gibbs lost his temper and really laid into the players today. He said that Gibbs told the players that he was sick and tired of covering for them week after week. If so I'm glad that he finally went off. I bet we are going to see a lot of running and old Redskin football this week against Carolina.

I totally agree. He needs to lay into the team, but keep it in house. The public doesn't need to know.

The Redskins writer for my local paper wrote a blog saying how Joe needed to be honest and informative with the media and fans. Basically whining because Joe won't give them great stuff to write about. That's not his job. I don't want some coach who feels the need to explain his every move to the fans.

I do think Joe was being too nice to these guys this season, at least that's how it appeared. His philosophy is to get smart players who will take it on themselves to be the best they can.

Sometimes even smart players need a fire lit under them!

Of course he's going to blow up at a team that is embarrassing him. I'm suprised it's taken this long. Hopefully Gibb's will whip us into shape before the game. Maybe he'll turn us back into the hard-hitting team we all miss. God knows we need some more bruisers on the team.

When I hear old stories about Coach Gibbs knocking over tables and punching holes in walls, I just can't seem to wrap my mind around that. It seems so out of character from what we normally see. He may have some age on him, but apparently he's still got it in him.

I've really come to despise a lot of the guys on this team. Not just the FA acquisitions, people I thought I liked. They seem so content to walk around with a glazed over expression passively wondering what's going on with the team. Bums. Let's hope Gibbs is finally instilling some accountability.

I agree line up the I and go to town. This is where the 'skins have gone wrong this season with offense...where is the power running game i was expecting? the way LJ and PH ran the ball in KC. I am starting to question whether or not Al Saunders is such a great fit for the core of players we have on offense.

Any offense has to have balance. Right now we are not effective running the ball. So to completely go to the running game is a mistake.

Its about time Gibbs laid into these guys. Let's see if we can get this thing turned around, or at least headed in the right direction. Sunday will be a good test.

They haven't committed to the run for a whole game. They certainly haven't executed a power running game plan.

What has frustrated me is that Duckett has shown signs that he could be effective for us. They have just refused to give him carries. I would like to to see what he could do if he was featured. What do we have to lose?

I'm not sure how much of this I really believe. Looks like the only one who lost his cool was George Michael.

The account I read was that the meeting was "intense". It didn't come across quite the way George Michael reported it.

Even Moss, when he talks, I feel like he has a bad taste in his mouth just talking about the team. They don't even care and we have 6 games to go! With Portis out and Brunell benched I just feel like our stars on this team have given up and couldn't care less... IT SUCKS!

I don't see how you can motivate a team that is as depressed as the Skins are. They all feel let down. THe high of thinking they are a SB team and then to have a season like this? I think they are all flat out depressed. I don't know how anyone can motivate a team in this kind of an emotional crises.

The power play gives a gap scheme, meaning the offensive line has angle-down blocks preventing the defensive end from penetrating. It also creates double teams at the line of scrimmage. The tight end blocks down on the defensive end, the front side guard blocks down on the nose guard, the fullback kicks out on the outside linebacker and the back side guard pulls around for the guard. It is a hard-hitting off-tackle play.

Another gap blocking scheme is the tailback counter. This is a misdirection play where it initially looks like it is going in the path of the fullback. The offense can pull the backside guard and tackle. The guard kicks out the outside linebacker. The fullback fills weak to allow the tackle to pull and to give the defense a misdirection look. Notice again the gap blocking which eliminates penetration by the defense.

Please, anyone who watches Michael on a regular basis should see his obvious bias. He's buddies with Gibbs, and when other people such as Riggins and Sonny talk about changing things, whats wrong with coaching, etc. He constantly blames anyone but Gibbs. I hate that type of shit.

There's no way you can say Michael isn't in Gibbs pocket, if so I question either how often you look at Michael or Gibbs.

Do I think Gibbs SHOULD have gone off and yelled at the players? Of course. It's about time. Should have been letting them have it from day one with the way we've been playing.

As far as players being out of it because Brunell was benched. Yeah right. If I were a player I'd glad to have ol' short arm outta there.
