9-7 To The Playoffs?
 

Week in and week out, at least game is an upset, with all these teams going up and down, does 9-7 get the 2nd wildcard? the 1st is everything but locked up by the 2nd place finisher in our divison(cowgirls/giants).

Mathematically we are still alive but we have to play like this for the rest of the season and we need a lot of help. Beating carolina helps and the Falcons lost which they do next week against us and the Gmen need to lose against Ten. and so on. Philly will more than likely lose tonight since Mcnabb is gone. 9-7 can make the playoffs, it would have last year since the cowpokes lost to finish 9-7 & we had the tiebreaker over them.
runnin the table is a bit much to ask 2 years in a row, but for whatever reason(s), we looked like a real team today. If we beat atl. next week, watch out. We're at home for them & eagles. great opportunity to build momentum!

We've got a long way to go to even start thinking about the playoffs.

I'll be happy if the team just continues to play with the same level of intensity that we saw today. At least we won't be able to call them quitters.

This thread is frickin retarded. Why talk playoffs? We are an average to below average team with too many conference losses. Typical fan getting ahead of themselves. We are 4-7! Bring something bettter to the table.

Your right, in a way. Yes we do have alot of conference losses, but most of them can be redeemed, we lost to NY and we have them at home to finish the year, we lost to philly on the road and we play them at home, yes we lost to Minnesota but they struggled to beat the worst team in the league today and they look finished, the lost to tampa will not matter, the losses to indianapolis and Tennessee do not hurt us as far as NFC playoff push is concerned.
Sure we only are 4-7, but hell last year we were only 5-6 after a loss to the Raiders and looked every bit as bad as this team. Joe Gibbs is known for this, he can rally the troops like no other. Have some faith, we dominated a pretty good team today, we went back to burgandy pants and Redskin football all in the same week, maybe this win was a fluke, but maybe just maybe it was this team figuring things out.

I second that, this even if we win out, we played like total shit this year. We don't deserve the honor of playing in the playoffs.

Hooskins...alot of teams dont diserve the honor of playing in the playoffs but they go anyway what makes it so different? We lost at home to the raiders last year did we not diserve to go then?

We were an ok team in the beginning of the year, and we played tough D. We had passion and emotion, that I have not seen before this game.

Even last year, it would have been more gratifying if we had won from the start. But that is just my opinion.

Today was a nice win, but we've had a couple of big wins this year (Jax, Dallas) that lead to nothing the following week.

I hope the team sees a light to aim towards. Last year that sign was in the locker room and everyone knew it was 5 in a row or we don't go. Everyone knew that if we did it we would most likely go and if we lost just ONE we weren't going.

Assuming on the off chance that we do win out; can we go. Lets spend sometime looking at schedules and figure this out.

Also i am not giving up a wildcard spot to the giants. We are 2 games behind and a game to go against them. They are on a horrible slide. If we do win out I see us ahead of them at the end of this. They have fallen three in a row. They are going downhill REALLY fast. THey just gave up a 21-0 lead in the FOURTH to the TITANS.

I want there to be a perception that the playoffs are within reach just like there was last year. I don't care if it is a small chance because last year we fought hard because we knew the playoffs were possible. Last year was not more probable than this year. We had 3 division games to go and we did it.

I'll never stop thinking about making the playoffs in any year until we have been mathematically eliminated. Too many weird seasons in the past for all NFL teams to not have some heart. I think (hope) we all realize that the chances of going this year are....remote...to say the least, but it doesn't really hurt to continue pulling for our team to make a run.

And there is nothing wrong with rooting for your team week in and week out, it would be nice ot make the playoffs and with a few acts of divine intervention it might not be all that hard. We need to find a team that plays the teams ahead of us a pray week in and week out and as hard as it may be this team might be the giants

Just for fun here are the teams we need to pull for next week (Week 13). The team in paranthesis is who they are playing against which is in our way for a wildcard. Don't get mad when you see two particular teams that I suggest. And remember, just...for...fun!

Dallas (Giants)
Eagles (Panthers, I'm assuming the Eagles will lose tonight)
Bears (Vikings)
Jets (Packers)
Washington Redskins (of course)
Saints (49er's)
Arizona (Rams)

This would put us surprisingly close to a wild card spot (one game behind). It's actually not too unrealistic. Maybe the Arizona/Rams game.

In Week 14 here are the teams we need to pull for:

Panthers (Giants)
Washington Redskins (of course)
Lions (Vikings)
Packers (49er's; assuming Green Bay loses tomorrow)
Tampa Bay (Falcons)
Bears (Rams)

So against those teams, our conference record would be irrelivant since we beat all of them. There's still a chance we can catch the Giants, also. The tough thing is that the Vikings can only win twice more the rest of the year, or we won't be able to catch them.

9-7 is pretty far off at this point, and I don't see us beating New Orleans. However, if we take out the trash these next two weeks, stranger things have happened.

Is it possible? Yes.
Is it likely? No.

It would be a major feat just to win 6 in a row in the NFL, no matter who you are. If you were to pull that off, then 9-7 doesn't usually get you in the playoffs, and if it does you probably will have to win a tiebreaker which is out of your hands.
