Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
The offense is finding a rhythem and identity with Campbell at the helm. He is starting to look to the receivers and once he works out some of the kinks he will be a solid starter capable of running this team. He gets my vote because of his progress.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I voted for Suisham but i really wish I could have voted for all of them, all of them were tremondous efforts today on the behalf of our players, I thought campbells play in the second half today was pretty damn impressive, to be able to bounce back from two turnovers. It was nice to see a consistent kicker for a change that definitley has some range. Betts had a great game which I would more over give half of that credit to the offensive line, the holes he had out there today where huge. Lastly Randle El, he was very impressive to me today, It almost got me thinking that maybe we should try a little wildcat formation ourselves, like arkansas does with darren mcfadden, I gurantee saunders has something in his playbook like that, and hes definitley the right kind of player with the right kind of skills to pull off something like that.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Betts. He's played great in Portis' absence. Unfortunately this is only gonna fuel the trade Portis fans.
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
while i never say anything about moral victories, i was impressed with alot about the skins today. our offensive line played very well. the play calling was very good. our kicking game was superb. and Campbell's mistakes are easily correctable. very pleased with the overall effort

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
maybe campbell should be changed to "campbell 2nd half". he was great in the 2nd half but dam that first half was frusterating. i thought the o-line did great, but im gonna have to go with betts. awesome day from him
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I went with Suisham mainly because Campbell's INT's led to 14 points for the Eagles. He pulled himself together and rallied in the second half which was awesome. I give him that. Betts ran very well but the Eagles have given up a lot of solid rushing numbers to RB's lately. I can't even remember the last time we had a 4/4 FG day. I know I'll never forget Lohmiller kicking 5 versus the Vikings many moons ago. Randle El had a pretty cool day, I almost voted for him. He was a close second in my opinion. All in all, the four individuals were bright spots in their own respects.

I agree 100%. Thats why I voted for Campbell. Betts does deserve it I just think it would be best not to praise Betts to much so we can avoid the trade Portis talks. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I'm voting for Betts strictly on his production, but the OL did a very good job of making life easy for him today. We may also have found ourselves a kicker.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Hey 4/4 field goals wow, if it was novak we wouldent even be able to say it was a close game

It's ridiculous. If anything, it means we've got two RB's with two totally different styles, that we can unleash on opponents next year. Will totally suck for fantasy football players, but I am loving Betts' success because it will force defenses to respect his presence when he's in the game along with Clinton now. Ladell should break 1000 on the ground this year, which means we'll have the luxury of two legitimate, 1000-yard rushers who can also both catch. Now if Saunders can just take advantage.... |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Also, am I the only one who thinks the 2nd INT was totally on Cooley, or at least the kind of fluke that isn't really the QB's fault?
I mean, a stat's a stat, and just like when Santana would catch a 7 yard screen and turn it into a 60 yard TD scamper, Brunell would get credit for a score, but still... I saw a ball hit Chris right in the numbers and he just muffed it straight into the arms of Mike Lewis, surely that one was on the receiver, not Jason. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
The Bright spot of the day for me was when they teased me with a few seconds of the lovely cheerleaders!! :goodjob:

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Betts did great, but I went with ARE. Great catches, decent returns, and one sick throw. Been waiting for him to show what he can do--I found that very encouraging.
Betts was nice, but, not to take anything away, the o-line was kicking ass on the run blocking. THere were some mack-truck size holes there. (Philly has given up a lot of yards on the ground lately.) Suisham was good, but only because I feared the worse, and he hit the makeable FGs. Campbell is a work in progress, but that TD pass was a thing of beauty, and we saw again that the kid gets up off the mat after making mistakes. It will come. |

Yeah it was more on Cooley, but he should of still never thrown the ball because it was 3rd down and Cooley was well covered and had no way of getting the first down. But all in all, I think Cambell is playing OK - if he would just stop on the big interceptions. I voted for Betts because after 2 weeks of that kind of running he deserves it (does anyone else remember the stat of how Gibbs never loses when a rusher goes over 100 yards...so much for that) but I don't think we should trade Portis...he is a better blocker and Betts also has nagging injury problems (like Portis). So, if we keep them both at least one of them should be suiting up each week. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Big Money Betts baby!

Yeah, I'm stuck in B'More and just can't bring myself to drop several hundred bucks for Season Ticket just to see the Skins, so I frequently just get quick replays and in this case I didn't even get the replay on my larger TV, so it just looked like a receiver bloop pop-up. In any case, it didn't look uncatchable by any stretch, which is what I was getting at. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I had a feeling Betts was capable of something of that nature, but it was incredibly nice to see a kicker with some consistency wearing a skins uniform. my second vote would go to ARE cuz it was good to see him and Campbell starting to build some chemistry and hopefully the emergence of another threat to prevent teams from consistently doubling Moss.

that was the first thing i thought too, is it just me or do the defensive teams know when the skins are running certain plays like their is a key, and they know it is coming.....like screen, counter trey, quick slant....its not that they are bad plays just either called at the wrong times or they know when it should be coming...... |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I voted for Campbell simply because at this point in the year every snap on offense is about one thing...Developing JC. It doesn't matter whatever else happens what matters is that JC learns to be an NFL QB who can win games for us. Yesterday he had one bad pick and one unlucky pick but was able to put it all together in the second half and give us a chance to win. If we don't have a stupid penalty here and there and our line gives him a little better pass protection we probably win. Hell we outplayed them most of the game on both sides of the ball and JC was a big reason why. What I really loved was that when we need first downs and the play broke down he moved around and made something happen by running or scrambling and throwing. He did some quality things for us yesterday.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I went with Campbell based on how he played in the 2nd half. He really bounced back strong after the early INTs.
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
betts hands down is your bright spot of the day..
we just need to work on this god awful defense of ours.. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I know we say this every year, but aren't we just a defensive player or two away from being back in contention?
I voted for Betts. And yes, I'm back from Key West. Longest drive EVER. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
It's been strange without you TMC, welcome the F back
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Thanks man. It's been weird not being here.
A depressing ass week to say the least. Thought you guys would enjoy this at least. I went to a bar in Key West to watch the second half of the Falcons game, and it was 50% Skins fans. Even at the southernmost point in the US, the Skins fans still represent even with the record we have. |

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I went Campbell because his development is the most important thing happening with the Redskins these days. I thought he did a nice job bouncing back in the 2nd half.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I went with Campbell based on how he played in the 2nd half. But I was really impressed by Campbell's recovery in the 2nd half. It's like during halftime, he learned how to be careful with the football, hit his check downs, scramble when necessary, and throw the deep ball in a spot where only the WR can get it. Tale of two halves with the guy, and no logical explination could possibly explain it. Sort of like the defense being dominant for 5 quarters this season, and horrible for the other 47.
My award goes to Betts. Admittedly, I didn't see the game, I was listening to it on triple X radio and following the NFL.com gamecast. But everytime I'd look up, Betts would have another 15 plus yard run. Give him his props. |
the second half from hell, must have been a pissed off bar
Yeah, I was furious. Gmanc and Warpath were texting me until I could make it there and then it all went to the shitter. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
We need to give some major props to the o-line (& Betts). The o-line really dominated the eagles yesterday and i think they would admit this much. We ran the ball right down their throats all day. That group has really played well over the last 1/2 of the year. It seems that the Gibbs "scale down." Run the ball philosophy is working w/ the o-line much better than the Al S. first 1/2 philosophy (or maybe their just starting to gel). So i'll vote for Betts but the oline needs to be in their too.

Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Betts because he is finally doing what the skins thought he would do. 1st he is healthy. He had injury problems before. If he was running like this when S. Davis was traded. He probably be one of the top backs in the league.

When Davis was traded, Ladell was stuck behind Trung "I'm The Losing" Canidate anyway. On a horrific pass first, punt second offense. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I say the O line gets it. With those big as FedEx field holes that Betts got to run thru, and the protection that Campbell got, I think the under appreciated DirtBagz get it
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
I love watching Moss catch the ball... it makes me giddy! I hope he has a few TDs next weekend.
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Well, without a unlucky bounce, we would've won...Campbell would've had 2 TDs and 1 INT instead of the opposite...and we'd be talking about how awesome we played.
That 83 yard INT off a bounce was a killer. Other than that, we had a good day. Our D finally held the opponent to a reasonable number of points (14) and this WAS an Eagles team who just murdered the tough Carolina defense. Betts was AWESOME and I'm ecstatic that we re-signed him! If we had everyone healthy, we'd be awesome right now. |

Its also a pass if picked goes along way the other way. |
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
The defender made a great play on the throw to Cooley, he just got his hand in there to cause the tip.
|
Re: Redskins/Eagles bright spot of the day
Campbell love fest again this week. He threw two picks which lead to 14 points just like last week. I know he's young but he does not deserve a game ball.
