How about time management??

Gibbs is the one that dictates this aspect of the game, and we have not done well throughout the year including today before the half. I don't know what the problem is, but someone needs to address it in the offseason.

Re: How about time management??

Maybe they can sign a former head coach to be in charge of it.

Re: How about time management??

I can't remember how Brunell was with time management. Is it just JC or was it both of them?

It seems like alot of the burden would go to the QB on this one. That's probably one of the easier things to fix during the offseason. Not worried about it.... yet.

Re: How about time management??

Brunnel was decent with time management

What really surprised me was taking those shots down field like we did instead of taking a knee, who saw that coming?

Im not to sure it is just Campbell, I remember being really pissed on Gibbs a couple of games before the half with Brunell.

LOL, good one.. Anyone else envision this conversation happening on 4th and short during the 35 second play clock?

Saunders-4th and one we're going for it!
Gibbs-Hold on, maybe we should kick.
Bugel-C'MON JOE LET'S RUN RIGGO UP THE MIDDLE!
Gibbs-Joe, it's 2006 Riggins isn't here.
Jack Burns-Can I say something?
All-NO!
Saunders-15 seconds left, we need to call something.
Don Breaux-Can I say something?
All-NO!
Duckett-Coach put me in!
Gibbs-Are you still here?
Duckett-Sorry, I'll go back and sit with Archuleta.
Saunders-5 seconds coach, make a call!
Campbell-Dammit, timeout ref.
Gibbs-Field goal.

haha, awesome.

you should put betts in there asking for the ball, and gibbs going "you got us this far down the field already, lets not risk anything by keeping you in here, youve setup up for a field goal and thats all i can ask of you..."

Re: How about time management??

The only time Gibbs seems to know time managment is when he has a big lead going into the 4th quarter. That soft fleshy spot in his mid-section where his balls use to be seems to be getting softer and softer. This man does not get it! Any other team in the NFL could have exacuted better than us on that! And I was so pissed that ARE didn't even attempt a return on that punt that we got just before the half. We could have done major damage to the aints in that game. Too many wasted oppurtunities. It kind of sums us up right now.

Sir you go to far, ARE missed that punt had abad bounce, we were throwing like crazy to get down the field maybe the lack of you own balls has rendered you helpless and unabler to see the Giant Old Saggy pair that Gibbs is carrying around. That drive did not go bette rbecuase of missed passes nothing that Gibbs can help.

Re: How about time management??

Well to me, even when Brunell was under center, it seems like the team would not play hurry up efficiently and we burned valuable sections. NY game I think before the half? I am sure there are more, but I gotta go back and look at them.

Re: How about time management??

over the last couple of seasons our clock management has been horrible. there is no sense of urgency when inside the 2 minute mark. and no, brunell wasn't any better

Re: How about time management??

At first it was bad due to Gibbs' return, learning the new tools of the trade, etc., now I think it's suffered due to coaching & qb changes. Hopefully that 1 year was all we needed to get this O down & we'll see a more efficient team in 07. They will have time to work w/JC on 2 minute O in the offseason, but probably didn't this year. Seems like something you can work on in preseason games.
Keep in mind that time mgmt. is much more difficult in this era than it was in Gibbs' 1st, plus he had one of the best 2 minute qb's ever IMO, Joe T. Back then the play clock was longer & there was less technology to get in the way.

Re: How about time management??

I also think that too often just before halftime, Gibbs would call for a draw when there was plenty of time left and he was either trailing, or holding on to a slim lead.

You have to hit them with everything you've got, and ever since Gibbs came back, it just seemed like he's been playing it too safe.

Remember though the Redskins did not want to "show" any of their playbook in preseason - this probably included thier 2 minute offense.

Great post!

In addition to all the coaches listed above, do the Redskins still have someone that is solely dedicated to reply challenge? I remember the last couple of years this was an issue but I actually think their challenges have been good this year.
