A Signing Already?!

TSN : CFL - Canada's Sports Leader

"The BC Lions have lost one of the cornerstones of the defense that led them to the Grey Cup title. Defensive End Chris Wilson has signed a 3-year deal with the Washington Redskins of the NFL. Wilson has started every game in his 2 years with the Lions recording 70 tackles and 8 sacks."

That was quick.

There. Pass rushing problems solved.

Cool, I like the agressive posture! Maybe some of that could rub off on field play

I was so hoping we would sign Chris Wilson!

TMC - hopefully this guy can come in and contribute - it would be nice to get a DE that I would assume does not cost to much and get some decent production from for a change.

2 years he played....8 sacks. Yep, pass rushing problem solved! I heard we threw in a 5th round pick to the Canadians too.

Re: A Signing Already?!

Kinda small 240LB. I guess we could use him at middle LB if things don't work out at DE. I think it couldn't hurt.

Atleast we are getting down to business as other teams are deciding what to do with their coaches. Sends out a good message.

Re: A Signing Already?!

This is phase 3 of Snyder's winning strategy.

Phase 1. Sign overpriced, aging, free agents at non-critical positions while letting younger studs leave. Phase 1 completed.
Phase 2. Sign several overpaid, egotistical, coaches to improve coach-to-player communication. Phase 2 completed.
Phase 3. Sign CFL players for areas of critical need (e.g., DE). Phase 3 in progress.

That's what people the "other site" are saying. Hell, could be a beast in the middle. But man, three years already?

I think its because the raiders or Lions did not have anyone the redskins liked.

What a freakin joke. Another great pickup by the current front office/Gibbs talent evaluators. This is pathetic.

I'd assume it's just a practice squad type of move, nothing to get your panties in a bunch over.

Re: A Signing Already?!

you can see him in this video at 2 minutes in returning a TD. he doesn't do much but be in position but you can see his speed.

i am still watching. I am sure he is in there more, that was the first defensive highlight.

edit: next play i think he is the one that forces a fumble. Can't see well though.

Gotta love this signing.

The message is now loud and clear for Demetric Evans.

Which, of course, means that this costs nothing. Complainers will now need a new "issue" to smack-talk Snyder and Gibbs 2.0 about.

LOL! 8 sacks in two years, and remember all they do is throw in the CFL. Great work by our FO!

Good Golly!! Unreal. They sure do seem to do all they can at Redskin park to make things work.... too bad it isn't working.....

Christ almighty ... Was this signing announced as the savior of the franchise?? Did I miss something? Are the Skins saying "Well, we've made the big FA move we've been contemplating, now we're done"? Did Redskin 1 ever leave the ground on this one (Hell, did it even get its windows washed)??

They probably saw something they liked, gave him a no SB contract, and will be pleasantly surprised if he does anything more than make the practice squad.

Man - this mob looks to eat its own quickly. Can we at least wait more than one week before we castigate the FO for a horrible offseason??

I agree with you, I haven't seen the terms of the contract and I suspect a lot of the other people complaining haven't either, they might have signed the guy for a cap-friendly bargain price of 500,000 a year in return for a Pro Bowl player for all we know. Unfortunately though, this is the corner that Snyder, the FO, and Gibbs 2.0 have painted themselves into. Because they have a history of bad moves in the past now everything they do is a target. They brought this on themselves.

So now we need to blast them over a practice squad type of move?

C'mon this thread is just ridiculous. It was a tough season so I can understand people being on edge, but I really hope we're not going to spend the entire offseason blasting every move no matter how insignificant it is.

I tend to agree. Nothing to get panties in a bunch over for any reason whatsoever. Not a bad move, not a good move.

Gibbs and Company brought the microscope upon themselves. If he refuses to change course in how players are selected and scouted then Im gonna pile on every chance I get until they prove they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
