What Big Name On Defense Is Most Likely To Be Gone???

I know Wynn and Daniels will prob get the boot, but what about some big names. Particulary Washington, Griffin, Springs. AA is prob gone..so exempt him.

I hope Springs re-works his deal - there was an article a few weeks ago stating how they would like to work in Springs at safety in certain defensive packages next year, which makes me think he will be back. If he doesn't agree to restructure, Springs is certainly gone.

I would hope Griffin would be back as well. There is no way they let M. Washington go.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Springs leaving myself.

Of that group I would say Springs. But I don't think he leaves unless he is unwilling to restructure his deal. You have to keep the heart of your defense (Griff and Washington). It's the Redskins FO, who the hell really knows what they are thinking!

Wynn and Daniels both have to be on the hotseat due to their age and contracts. I think Springs will be back with a restructured deal.

No, if Springs does not restructure, the Redskins' incentive would be to keep him. If he doesn't restructure, he'll count $7.3 million against the cap. If they cut him, he'll count $7.4 million against it. There's no savings for cutting him.

But there's no reason he wouldn't restructure. He's not going to care how he gets his money, as long as he gets it.

The only way Springs leaves is if he's the deepthroat and GW finds out.

Re: What Big Name On Defense Is Most Likely To Be Gone???

Wynn would represent a savings of $2.5 million if we cut him. They will certainly try to force him to accept a paycut, and they'll have leverage because he's not worth what his current contract says he is. If he doesn't accept the paycut, they'll axe him.

On Daniels, he would represent a $1.9 million savings if we cut him. But I can't see them cutting both Daniels and Wynn. That would leave us really thin at DE.

I can only see one or the other being gone at most, and quite honestly I think both will be back.

Washington and Griffin are like Springs, cutting them would not represent any cap savings. They'll restructure them both.

Wynn and Daniels could save us some nice cash. Guess it all depends on what happens in free agency/draft. I doubt they'll cut both of them but I think it's a strong possibility at least one of them will get the axe.

The message here is when in doubt just look at the cap, it usually tells the whole story. Thanks for the breakdowns.

No problem. As in any business, money makes the world go round.

NO way Wynn and Daniles are getting the boot. They are core. AA is out of here. You don't bad mouth the coaches in Washington and live until another season.

If Wynn gets cut who will co-host Monday Nite Live?

Re: What Big Name On Defense Is Most Likely To Be Gone???

Springs, Washington and Griffin are quality players - when healthy of course - AND the Redskins have no one else on the roster who can play those positions at the level these three guys do. If the cap causes the team to lose even one of these guys, that's an indictment on the "cap gurus" in the front office.

Sean Taylor would be my guess.

I heard someone saying, and I think it was JLC, that Springs moving to safety was not something that would happen next season, but rather, down the line. So I think Springs is the correct answer given his cap number and injury history, even though I'd love to see them find a way to keep him. He's a true competitor who loves this team as much as we do.

Re: What Big Name On Defense Is Most Likely To Be Gone???

JLC mentioned that Wynn & Daniels are both key to team chemistry. I know they're both old, but they both play hard & 1 is effective vs. the run, the other the pass. I see D. Evans & Boscetti losing their roster spots to draft picks. I hope Wynn & Daniels are both back. I would say Daniels is the most likely to get cut of the two.
